Castle Green He built the house which today forms the Business and Training Centre and the executive bedrooms. He left the house to his nephew, William Bindloss, who was Kendal's Mayor six times. When William died, he donated the house to the Borough of Kendal in his will in 1895. The house was sold and the proceeds were used to extend the Town Hall and to build the clock tower, which is a feature of Kendal today. Between 1949 and 1995 the house was owned the by Electricity Board as their area offices and around 300 local people worked in the building.

Stayed for 3 nights 6/7/8 June. Lovely room with garden view and a huge bed. Lovely breakfast and friendly helpful staff. I have nothing negative to say about our stay, thoroughly enjoyable. However, I did think the restaurant menus were not very imaginative, and expensive.17 for what in effect was bangers and mash, and 18 for fish and chips? But they were both very nice. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Very comfortable room, well furnished with everything you need. Bathroom fitted well with good quality workmanship, adequate size but bigger would be a lot better. Shower cubicle small but adequate for most people. Staff helpful and attentive. Car park on split levels so we had to carry bags up an exterior covered stairway. Restaurant good. Prices to match.

Great location with good views from the front. Book a garden view room, it's worth it. Great food and loved the swimming pool. All staff were friendly and efficient- they seemed to actually enjoy their jobs and gave excellent customer care.

Great location up on the hill above Kendal. Plenty of parking but on 3 levels with lots of steps. If you have mobility problems you need to park at the very top. Exceptionally good food in the restaurant, especially gluten free. Almost every dish available with few substitutes needed (bread being the main example). Reasonable rates, great staff & lovely views

We were very happy with our stay. This hotel is just out of town. It is super quiet. It has a great workout facility and a basic restaurant. The staff is very friendly. Our only complaint is the standard rooms are small compared to American hotels (yeah, we are silly Americans). The room was great, don't get me wrong. We just aren't used to small hotels. But we hardly spent time in it anyway as we were out exploring.

Two day break 17 -19 February. Beautiful hotel. Herdwick suit. Very large room with all the best fittings. Tremendous view out over the town and surrounding hill. Lovely bathroom with bath and separate shower. Could have held a party in the suit. ALL staff were smart, polite, helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Great bar and lounge area for snacks and drinks.

We had two evening meals both of which were very satisfying. Actually the food was superb! Breakfast was not quite so good. It was a buffet style affair, which I personally do not like, but that's just me. The main problem was that the food on display was not very hot. However there was a really good selection to choose from. We did not get chance to use the spar, due to time, and the ground which appear to be large, because of the very inclement weather. Would we stay again. Most definitely. Thank you

We stayed two nights for the New Year and it was great! All the staff is lovely, the room (standard one) was really nice and clean with a balcony over the garden and a king size bed. Nice swimming pool too. The best was the restaurant, the food is amazing! Either the starter, the main plate (we had the beef and two different fishes) or the dessert, everything was really tasty and well cooked.

Really good cakes for the afternoon tea too (the brownie was amazing). The portions are generous yet for a reasonable price. We will defenitly come back eat there! Thanks to all the team for the nice time :)

Our second visit. Excellent safety protocols, wonderful room and staff. The meal and breakfast were excellent too. Top class gym, steam room and swimming pool. Excellent attention from the young man in the bar. Wish we'd booked for Christmas too, we will next year. Possibly our favorite hotel ever.

Remote check in and plenty of covid secure signage, sanitizing and covid policies in operation made us feel very secure as did the clear seating policy for breakfast and dinner around the hotel. Reception and restaurant staff were always available and more than willing to assist. Good amount of parking, although it didn't appear to be busy. A self serve buffet Breakfast was available with a wide selection of options available and plenty of staff if you needed anything.

The star was deducted for some of the dinner menu selections and actually the 'what' was served. The blade of beef selection was left mostly uneaten (by a meat lover and surprisingly not queried by the member of staff) and the cheeseboard was a massive let down for a four star hotel. Four identical pancake sized oat cake type biscuits covered about a third of the plate.

Butter straight out a fridge and 'small thin' wedges of 3 cheddar type cheeses. Chutney was under the grapes and actually missed initially because of that. One may have been an award winning cheese but what a let down! You couldn't even have contemplated sharing it. Not sure what I was supposed to do with biscuit 4! Staff politely took on board the comments and I wasn't alone on commenting that night or the following. There were vegetarian starter and main meal options which I tried (although not a vegetarian) more because the menu was not what I'd expect in a four star hotel.

Lovely hotel, just a few min drive from central Kendal. The location and views are absolutely stunning. The room is very nice, very modern with excellent window shading for a pitch black room. And while the shower is a bit small, the water pressure is insanely good. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The gym is great with lots of options. Also had a massage which was very good and calming. The included breakfast is also good, very English so no fresh veggies. But there is fresh fruit.

Pleasant staff in the hotel generally. We were there for a large function & formal meal. The waiting staff were very attentive & efficient. The food was good & dietary requirements catered for. Very good experience. Hotel room a bit small.

Really surprised when I turned up at night to see a big green garden in the car parking area(s). Thought it was a 5 star hotel. Staff were courteous and helpful. Feeling clean and spacious. Room was a bit like Travelodge but a bit more spacious. Quiet and unfortunately facing the back onto hillside. Probably quite nice view facing front. The only gripe would be the croissants which were small and a little crusty.

We had a good time there, spent an extra night. First night had a room with garden view, but small bathroom/toilet. Spent next six nights in another room, bigger bathroom but view of car park. JESSIE, the receptionist handled both our book-ins, and was very helpful when she managed to get us a fridge in the second room. Lack of lift to some rooms, on the second and third floors was an issue.

Staff throughout the were very good, gave assistance on occasion. Pool was very nice, steam room broke during visit. Breakfast and restaurant were excellent. Location was good, do need transport around local area.

Lovely location, great staff, food is truly wonderful, had the 12oz steak with hand cut square chips, onion ring and red wine sauce. I must say every bit was heaven, by far the best steak I've ever had.

This hotel was nice and lying on the top slopes of Kendal. The spa was also located in the hotel and was small and convenient. The breakfast was amazing according to my partner. The staff were reasonably friendly for a busy hotel. A good place to stay for reaching the lake district and wainwright walks

A good venue for works dos, Christmas parties and the like. I didn't stay at the hotel bur friends did and were happy with their accomodation. Good food and drinks supplied, a dance floor of youre feeling the need and easy to find, park and get a taxi to and from.
