From its origins as a hill fort through its Renaissance cultural flourishing and its importance in Scotland's break from the Roman Catholic Church to its modern status as one of the most dynamic cultural cities in Europe, Edinburgh has enjoyed a rich and complex history.
Despite being only minutes from the bustling centre of Edinburgh we have the best of both worlds at Best Western Braid Hills Hotel. Surrounding the hotel we have some of Edinburgh's oldest golf courses and great historic local walks and parks. Located adjacent to the hotel Braidburn Valley Park has been a public park since 1933.
Taxi's are available from various rank's operating in the city centre including outside the main bus and rail stations. Lothian bus number 11 runs a frequent journey straight into the City Centre and takes approximately 20 minutes. Please note you must have the correct change when boarding the bus as the drivers are unable to give change.
Our Classic Double & Twin rooms are perfect for a cosy retreat after a day out exploring the city. Many of our Classic bedrooms are located in the townhouse section of the hotel and retain many of the period features typical of the famous Edinburgh townhouse era. Our Classic bedrooms are ideal for short stays but for those guests looking to stay longer or require additional floor-space please look at our Deluxe, Clan and Signature bedrooms which offer additional space and seating areas.

We spent there 3 nights and evening was on top. Staff- very friendly. Room was clean with beautiful view. The only minus was downstairs restaurant. Waitress did all she could to make our dinner nice, but menu left bad impression- shorter than online ( QR code left in room redirect you to menu), some things were out of date.

Beautiful room (no.216) looking out over the park + lovely views over the hills. We had a couple of issues I.e the wardrobe door had come off the runner + the shower head was blocked. These were fixed very quickly + staff were so friendly + couldn't do enough for you. Breakfast ( buffet style) was very nice to with good quality food.

7.15 am just awake! Leaving today after 3 night stay to go home to Cumbria. Reflections! Yet another great visit to the city I love and Braids Hotel has once more been a vital part of having a great time. I have absolutely no hesitation in recomending Braids hotel. When I next come to Edinburgh this is where I will stay. Room great, staff, great, food great. Can't wait to come back!

We arrived today for a funeral lunch. The staff were amazing. particularly the staff who took care of us in the Braid Suite. Marcia and the rest of the team were so helpful and attentive and took care of us all so well. Everything ran so smoothly and we couldn't have been looked after better. Congratulations to the hotel on having such a wonderful team of employees.

This is a very good hotel. We were in 3 different rooms over a 3 week period and all had obviously been updated. Rooms were of deluxe status and spacious. I suspect all rooms have been updated. All public areas that we were in appeared to be in need of some updating. We used the restaurant for dinner each evening and found the food to be lovely. Good selection although menu was the same each week but this was due to staff shortage apparently.
Staff members we had dealings with were extremely helpful, polite and willing to help in any way possible. We could not fault anything about our stay. Breakfast was amazing. A very good selection of cooked items as well as continental.

We booked 2 nights in Classic Double rooms with breakfast. The rooms were very pleasant, spacious and clean. The breakfast was an impressive buffet. The hotel was in decent order except for some tired carpets on a couple of stairs but this added character really. The only 2 issues we encountered were the lack of draught beers in the bar and the lack of staff through illness.service was a little stilted but the handful of staff who were left to survive managed well and were polite and friendly. All in all an enjoyable stay that we would happily repeat.
