The Haweswater Hotel is perched right on the lake at the heart of the Haweswater nature reserve - a stunning, 100 square mile haven for wildlife. The views over the lake, towards Kidsty Pike are simply breathtaking. It's an absolute joy to be working in one of the most beautiful locations in England and with such an important historic building! We look forward to welcoming you to this very special place.
Or ice-cream parlours. Just one stunning Art Deco hotel, set in 100 square miles of pristine wilderness, amongst the finest that England has to offer. The hotel's public rooms made specific provision for walkers, casual visitors and residents while staff were recruited locally. Cutlery and furnishings, newly ordered from high quality suppliers like Waring and Gillow, were marked with a Manchester emblem.
The newly restored Bistro and Brasserie enjoy views over the majestic Lakeland scenery and are a great place for relaxed drinking and dining. We serve uncomplicated, brasserie-style food to the highest standards. Phil Clarke, John Cook and Reece Kirkham, our chefs, take great pride in sourcing ingredients from the very best local producers.
Perfectly located for Wainwright's 'Coast-to-coast' walk. It was originally built to transport materials to the site of the dam. Perfect for cycling, it takes you over the dramatic fells and through some lovely villages - see first map, path is marked yellow going east from the North end of the dam.

This hotel is a hidden gem. The location is fabulous, the rooms are beautiful, the food is delicious and the staff can't do enough for you, the customer service is amazing. This is our second stay at this hotel. We outstayed our stay on 12/6/22 (till 10pm)as we were stranded due to car trouble, but the staff were empathetic to our situation and couldn't do enough to support us through our ordeal. Thanks so much everyone! We will be back, and cause less trouble next time :)

My partner and I stayed at Haweswater in January 2022 and it was perfect, my partner actually proposed to me whilst we were out walking on the Saturday afternoon. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms lovely, food exceptional and the staff can't do enough for you. A really special place for us, will definitely return.

Stayed for a Friday night and enjoyed some walking in the fells on Saturday. We were very impressed by this place from start to finish! The staff are friendly and attentive, rooms are beautiful with amazing views, dinner was delicious and of high quality. To top it off the manager (I think) clearly cares about creating a special atmosphere and has great attention to detail and friendly character. Will be coming back!

Facilities are important, but it's the people who make the difference. Haweswater Hotel has all the facilities you need for a complete break away from it all in the beautiful Lake District and it has great staff. Chef is excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed all of our meals, including the Mother's Day Special. Breakfast is made to order, and help yourself to cereal/juice while it's cooking.
You don't need a gym when you have mountains and even superb low level walks on your doorstep, then come 'home' to a roaring fire in the cosy bar and read the fascinating local history in a specially commissioned book. Staff are always on hand to attend and chat and answer my quirky questions or leave you alone if you prefer. We were so much at ease that we chatted freely with other guests, sharing pictures and memories; Haweswater Hotel is a real home-from-home.

This place is amazing. Set up above the shores of Haweswater it has the most picturesque views of the reservoir and a 1930's vibe that is so well done. The whole place is decorated with an Art Deco feel, was opened in 1937 and the staff ensure that that theme continues. Irrespective of this, the staff are, to a person, polite, professional and welcoming.
This truly is a hidden gem. The food is impeccable with fine dining dishes served up with traditional favourites. The welcome given to our dog, Tango, will make us definitely visit here again. Kate, who was on reception, and at the bar, was an absolute joy. We will be back!

I love this place so much. It's beautiful, the staff are so friendly, the rooms are beautiful and have the best shower/baths I have ever used. The food from the restaurant is just delicious. But the absolute icing on the cake is the view. It never gets boring. Sitting on the balcony watching the jets planes training was just the best. Hope to be back here soon.

Lovely hidden gem of a hotel, amazing views, excellent attentive, friendly service, with high quality tasty food and actual none alcoholic drinks that were not sweet and sickly (which is such a bonus), when you. have to drive. My recommendation would be to offer non alcoholic wine etc, as there is an amazing array of alternatives. Personal preference was for you to change the style of music in the background, definitely not to my taste.

Stayed here for a couple of nights on my way up to the Cairngorms. The hotel is really interesting and different. The food was quite nice, and they catered for vegans and vegetarians, although the choices were slightly limited. If you visit be prepared to loose all communication with the outside world, there is no WiFi and atleast with EE there is no signal until you make your way to the nearest town. However it's not totally necessary to have it as the hotel and surroundings are so nice.

Fantastic 1930's hotel, loved the attention to detail from the art deco designs down to the 30's music on the gram. Excellent value for money, lovely room overlooking the lake and mountains. Staff are friendly and attentive. Breakfast was very good, To sit in the lounge with fire roaring and peaceful surroundings was just wonderful, highly recommended and cannot wait to book again.

A bit out of the way, about halfway up the road that leads to the top of the reservoir - an historic building in local stone, the hotel was an imposing sight with great views across the reservoir itself. The staff were helpful and polite and we had a lovely time sat in the afternoon sun with a beer. Reasonable prices and well worth a visit.
