The Old Wisteria Hotel

Wonderful place. Staff were fantastic - friendly, helpful, amusing, busy!

Very nice smallish, Hotel and Restaurant / Bar. This is the first time I stayed here, although I have eaten in The Restaurant on another occasion. The rooms in newish annexe on The ground floor are slightly on the small side. We booked a twin which was a double which was split into a twin room. Breakfast was very good with reasonable self service cereals etc.

All served by friendly staff. A hot breakfast order is taken at the table. Dinner on our very first visit Restaurant was very good with a good Service. On our visit this time, our order was taken we waited a while to be Seated in The Restaurant. Once we were seated we also waited a quite long time for our meal to arrive. Once it did, we were generally pleased with The Food. Would stay here again for sure. If they can just speed up slightly The Dining Service, I would consider eating here again, too.

I visited here twice in March 2022 - Thursday 17th March 2022 - Room 21 - double and Tuesday 22nd March 2022 (toom 3) cosy single. Both were ample sized rooms and comfy and quiet - and rooms were at the back. The single was fine I had to book for breakfast which was fine The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from Oakham Railway train station - an easy route and easy to find - The castle is only a few minutes away and also the Rutland museum is literally next door Breakfasts were great - help yourself for cereals, yoghurts, jams etc (and all in individual portion sizes in jars) Staff were pleasant and courteous Whilst it is on a main road it is a quiet road being slightly out of town but nor far from the services that you need I was doing a walk called the Rutland Round so I was starting and finishing from here and was able to leave a small bag there

Warm and welcoming atmosphere, staff professional and friendly, room was spotlessly clean, spacious, tea/coffee etc, rainfall shower was lovely, the bed.well.i was tempted to skip the evening plans of a meal out to get in it sooner it was that comfortable, best pillows. Breakfast was really nice, both cooked and the continental buffet breakfast. Will definitely be booking to stay again in the future for a break away.

Since I last stayed there approx 3 years ago I was amazed at the improvements the new owners have done. The staff are very friendly and the meals are really lovely ( both breakfast and the main resteraunt). The hotel is also dog friendly which is a big plus for future stays.

Staff are professional, efficient, friendly and helpful. Outstanding service in hotel and restaurant. Varied menu choices at reasonable prices. Room spacious, comfortable bed and perfect pillows. Tea and coffee making facilities. High standard of decor. Free ample parking. Chose a stay which included breakfast that was excellent value. Would highly recommend this hotel. When I visit the area again, this will be my number one choice of where to stay. One of the best hotels I have ever stopped in.

Such a lovely stay and venue. Held my wedding breakfast here and stayed at the hotel with my mother before the day. Each staff member went above and beyond, the rooms are clean, spacious and have all you need. Breakfast was brilliant too. Family members have already booked rooms again! Do visit

Sunday evening I booked a table in the restaurant as we live locally and I really fancied a full Sunday dinner. I was not disappointed, the husband and and I both the pork belly which was delicious and was served with just the right amount of veg and an amazing freshly made Yorkshire pudding. One of the kids had the lamb which was equally delicious whilst the other two had hunters chicken burger and chicken nuggets from the kids menu (though he did eat plenty of my meal too) The service was exemplary even though the restaurant got busy.

My only criticism would be the hot chocolate one kiddo had for desert was a little watery and the husbands cappuccino wasn't great but otherwise it was a beautiful night out and I would go again

Just had a lovely stay at this hotel. The staff are amazing so friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Zena and Lee. Good location, very clean hotel, great beer garden. Our room was well decorated and very clean. Breakfasts and our evening meal were delicious. Would recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the Wisteria hotel for our wedding. The staff were so helpful and very accommodating. Rooms were very nice. Breakfast was delicious. We had a meal in the pop up beer garden the night before our wedding, the food was great and the garden was set up very well with tables spread out nicely for social distancing. Food and accommodation was great value for money also. Thank you again to the hotel staff for making our stay special.
