The Boars Head Hotel

We had 1 night stay at the hotel also booked the meal for tea. First arrive at the hotel was good, but we were a bit disappointed with the meal for tea we felt like we were left out, we kept asking for serving and we missed our desserts, but fair enough the restaurant took the drink out of the bill. However, breakfast was very nice staff were very friendly than the restaurant.

Food was incredible with the Lamb Shank being a personal highlight. The service was lovely and friendly. I would definitely come back to eat here again.

We recently held our Wedding Reception at the BHH and we can only say how amazing they helped make it for us. Gabby, Gayle and all the staff were absolutely amazing with us and our guests on the day and in the lead up to our big day. No problem was too big or small and they helped everything go so smoothly for us. We'd visited the BHH numerous times over the years and the food is always stunning, which was a big draw for us to consider in the first place.

Add to that the gardens, the quality hotel rooms, customer service, outside areas, beer selection.it ticked every box and then some. Our menu was varied and so delicious on the day, plus they catered for all our Vegi & Vegan guests too - including the bride on the day. The BHH has loads of nearby facilities too like a campsite which lots of our guests choose to stay at.

We could go on for pages about our special day, but the truth is they're always great regardless of the day. A wonderful location that we'd recommend for any occasion big or small. Thank you again for all your hard work and for making our day the best ever!

General feeling by all members of our family which was 9 people said they were disappointed with the food and that is based on many years of going. Those that had the carvery said it was only look warm and lacked flavour. The piri piri kebabs were dry and lacked spice and flavour. Chicken wings rubbery. Sorry for negative feedback, it won't stop us going as we think the staff and venue are fantastic. Steve Moulson.

Spotlessly clean, staff are very friendly and go above and beyond. Management care for the customer experience, we heard them ensuring everything was ok for customers between themselves, this was not just for our benefit. Really interesting menu, not the same old stuff in other places, lovely food. Breakfast was really good. There were a few broken items in the room hence the lower stat ratings there but when we did say the radiator wasn't working someone came within minutes and got it working straight away. I would recommend this hotel.

Was lucky enough to send most of the day here at a wedding would have stayed but was fully booked however the food was outstanding along with the staff will go back and have dinner there and might stay if rooms are available Beautiful place and loverly people

It's a lovely location and the food is good too. The menu needs more choice, especially for kids.

Booked a table in the restaurant, turned on time and got placed in the bar. First 2 pints poured was off and the the mains was so salty. It is a shame as I have had some good meals there.

It was a short stay overnight. And we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful, the accommodation was spot on, and the layout good. And the breakfast first class, will definitely stay again.

Lovely meal with friends, not been for years, love the upgrade. Staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing and happy to answer our questions about food ingredients. Only slight gripe was some of the portions were a little small eg the rice pudding. Be assured we will be back!

Never had a bad meal me & my son called in tonight extremely good food and fine ales.

Omg what a brilliant place, I will definitely be back to stay. The family who own and run this hotel are very friendly and run it very efficiently. The food was amazing with plenty of options. I really can't wait for my next visit

Visited for a family dinner on Boxing Day. Friendly service, great good and excellent value.

Fantastic champagne breakfast served by very attentive staff. The food was excellent and we had a whole bottle of champagne between 4. Will definitely return.

Called in today 30th Nov on the off chance of getting a table as we were passing on the way home from a day out we got a table no problem the staff were very good as was the food couldn't fault it at all we will go again for sure would recommend highly

Just had sunday lunch was the best dinner we have had out for a long time. would recommend you give it a try. Staff where very helpful especially Laura who served us.

Wow! Great place with equally great atmosphere. Everywhere was spotless. Excellent restaurant. Food cooked to order. Had daily roast of turkey which did not disappoint. Good size portion well cooked and presented. Veg was served on the side, again great. All nice and hot. Attention to detail, service and staff excellent. Looking forward to our next visit! Highly recommended.

Such beautiful hotel and staff are so lovely and kind. Stayed in room 9. Lovley room with view of water fountain and food was Lovley. Staff even helped get me normal teabag lol. As english breakfast teabags were to posh for me. Staff put up with my strong glasgow accent lol. I will rebook this hotel again worth the money. Thank you

The staff were truly amazing! They all had amazing attentiveness, they were very friendly and couldn't do enough to help! The food was also absolutely brilliant! My partner and I had three courses from the restaurant on both evenings of our stay and we were always finishing each dish saying how amazing it was. The location was perfect for us as we stayed over the weekend and went to Alton towers on the Saturday which is around 20-25 minutes away from the hotel.

The beds were hard which is perfect for me but my partner had some trouble getting comfortable. Although it is a 3 star hotel, it exceeded all my expectations and I would recommend this hotel to friends and family. When we initially arrived the bathroom had some soap and hair around the bath. This was rectified almost immediately by the amazing staff. Also the room / bathroom was a little dated, but served it's purpose entirely.

The room was very clean and tidy, plenty if space. However, a little dated and in need of some TLC. Only two waitresses in the dining room so breakfast service was extremely slow. Food was ok, however portions rather small. Paid extra for sons pancakes which when came were two very small pancakes also paid extra for hash browns.one! All in all.ok. Bed.very comfortable. Lovely outlook onto parkland.

Stopped for lunch while travelling. Lovely place good choice of good. Good well cookedfood, nicely presented and generous portions. Plenty of choice from lite snacks to full meal. I had belly pork and my friend had beef ballantine. Staff very welcoming. Would definitely call again if in the area in the future.

First time here. Definitely recommend it. Called in for a late lunch wasn't disappointed. WOW. Three excellent meals were served to our table. Delicious food. Very tasty Very attentive waitress. Will definitely visit again. Thank you
