Paid for a twin room with private bathroom and was told when checking in that there system changed it and I was to have room with shared bathroom and guest from other room did not keep it clean and left there mess in toilet a good few times 400 paid for the 4 nights and didn't get what was paid for When spoke to staff they didn't seem bothered that they gave the room to someone else who had not paid for that room as I had and staff was not willing to rectify there mistake

We booked this place last minute as a last resort as all the campsites in the area were fully booked. The room was warm, clean and tidy, we had no ensuite toilet but we were told that when we booked so it was perfectly fine and the toilet was right next door to the room. Friendly welcome at reception, brilliant banter in the bar, Donald is a legend and had us in stitches all night. We ate our supper in the bar and the food was fresh and really tasty and we had a good breakfast in the morning too. I would book again.

Sadly the Belgrave Arms did not quite meet my 3 star hotel expectations. So 3 stars for a 3 star. For more information, go ahead and read my humorous monologue below: Upon arrival at le bar I am greeted with a hostile reception with a dash of public humiliation. Scottish humor maybe. "Oh you're a guest?!" Sadly, yes, this is true. I sit and take in the scenery. Donald is the head honcho at the Belgrave Arms and makes every effort to remind you of it.
After all, it's a hard life running a roadside inn, pouring pints and inputing orders. The locals seem well accustomed to Donald's antics - they're practically finishing his punchlines. Donald has forgotten my order - did I ask the chef? Sorry, no. The table next to me reminds him: "Fishcakes!" Delicious by the way, the only saving grace. Onwards and upstairs; the room. Well, let's be positive a second - it has a bed, sink, TV and the heater works.
There is a wardrobe but I daren't open it - the smell might be coming from there! I settle into a night of TV and the gradual hum of traffic from the A9. Early start and sandwiches await at the reception. Nice! On reflection, not so bad and would have liked to have more time to spend in an upgraded room - the others look OK - perhaps my 50 quid could go towards a new lampshade for room 8. (Or some new joggers for the barman). How about rather than a copy paste apology below, evidence of this? Though no Karaoke pics, please.

I paid for the room in advance on Friday. On Saturday I showed up ahead of time at the hotel. I waited patiently until 4 p.m. when someone was officially supposed to show up at the reception. 4:20 pm the hotel was still closed. When I asked politely why no one was at the reception. A very nice kind gentleman said that I was insolent and threw me out of the hotel. Leaving without anything. Still waiting for my money back. Stay away from this place. Otherwise, they will have neither money nor accommodation.

Great pints at reasonable prices. Lovely beer garden on which was a very nice sunny day. Going back today for dinner and drinks so will update after Update Had a lovely meal here. Burger was very good, chips were excellent. Homemade macaroni was a winner. Great little bar and thanks to the owner for giving us a run up the hill on a very rainy night. Good selection of beer and whisky. Especially liked the staropramen on draught. Excellent
