Our long experience has shown us that the opportunity to discuss personal reservation requirements is preferable to booking through a booking agent and is also cheaper! So if possible do please contact us directly. Bookings made by this method will carry an administration fee. We have fifteen cottage style rooms in the heart of historic Oxford, seconds away from colleges, libraries and museums. All rooms are ensuite with digital flat-screen televisions, Minibar, and coffee- and tea-making facilities.
In the heart of the city, this 17th-century hotel has floors that slope at disconcerting angles and stairs that are fit for a hobbit. Its creaking, crooked rooms are full of character. Our recent and third stay at the Bath Place Hotel was satisfying and inspirational. Apart from its ideal location there's so much more.

17th century cottages form this quirky hotel in the heart of Oxford. A literal stone's throw from the Bodleian, reached by a cobbled street and adjoining a tavern (that closes at 11pm), the rooms are clean and comfortable with a cosy bathroom and small TV, chair and desk as well as wifi. A continental breakfast went down well and additions could be bought for those who like hot English versions.

Quiet hideaway right in the center of Oxford. Place is old and worn, with tiny rooms and steep narrow stairs - and that's what gives it such a unique character! Very nice and accommodating hosts. In walking distance to everything Oxford (pubs, food, shops, colleges). If you want a sterile, clean & straightforward chain hotel - move on. If you want a quiet place to enjoy Oxford's history - then stay.

This is a fun hotel. Very central and full of character. If you are after a sterile posho city centre designer space then this probably not for you. It is set in a 300 ish year old building with small rooms and some of the decor is quite dated but this gives a wonderful atmosphere. The bed was very comfortable, staff excellent and good breakfast. Our room backed onto the courtyard of the Turf Tavern which was not noisy and was very convenient.

Wonderfully charming if cosy hotel. Not for the claustrophobic, infirm or those unable to sleep without air con. Hopefully the experience will only improve when guests can eat in the dining room as opposed to their rooms. Ideal central location, surprisingly quiet given that it is adjacent to a popular pub

We've just returned from a 3 night stay at The Bath Place Hotel and sadly it's not somewhere we would return nor recommend. The saving grace of this hotel is the location - it's situated right in the centre of beautiful Oxford. The parking was also well organised, secure and just around the corner - albeit at 60 for 3 days. We must also add we were here during very warm weather and our room stayed cool which was a relief.
Our initial greeting was friendly enough but upon seeing our room we were so disappointed. It was musty, cramped and grubby - yes it's 2* but we were stunned this room could possibly warrant 166.75 per night! The soft furnishings were faded & tired, the walls patchy, there was no shower (just one you'd have to hold manually!) & there were hairs all over the bed & beyond!
Not the welcome we'd hoped for after a long journey in anticipation of a restful break from work. My partner mentioned this and we were able to move to an alternative room which we were grateful for but again, general housekeeping seemed to have gone amiss. The carpet hadn't been hoovered, the bathroom didn't look as though it had been cleaned thoroughly for a while and the furnishings just looked so sad.
The bathroom shelf was hanging off, the toiletries were half used (as was the loo roll so we had to ask for more!) and the towels had stains. On a positive, the bed was comfortable so we slept well - despite the noise from the nearby pub - and the breakfast in bed (due to Covid) was OK although not the most substantial. The shower was decent, although small. Overall, we felt this hotel was seriously overpriced for the experience we received.
We appreciate that the Bath Place Hotel is an older building with quirks but we felt this ethos was used to detract from a poor guest experience and below par housekeeping. Guests deserve better - we work hard for our money and felt ours wasn't spent wisely here.

We booked 2 nights and multiple rooms as part of a wedding party. Unfortunately this was not as expected, the rooms were incredibly small, outdated, dirty and dusty. The beds were so uncomfortable and I have never spent an entire night awake whilst away due to noise from other guests in other rooms. Despite the reasonably high cost of 150 per night, parking was an additional fee which isn't unreasonable in the center of Oxford, but only offering a very limited continental breakfast within that price yet having a kitchen which would make hot options, but at extortionate prices is ridiculous. I would honestly not recommend staying here. Part of our party left, got a refund and stayed at another hotel. Wish we had done the same.

Overall we enjoyed our stay! Great location right on top of our favorite Oxford pub, and within easy walking distance to all the university sites. Our room (#3) was very cute and comfy, with no issues receiving the free wifi. The complimentary breakfast buffet was simple (cereal, fruit, cheese, cold meats) but adequate. The french press coffee was surprisingly good as well. (That said, I still recommend walking to The Missing Bean for a proper espresso drink.) The only negatives to report are (1) the noise from the aforementioned pub (thank heavens they close at 11:00pm) and (2) the lack of a shower in our room (only had a bath tub with movable "shower" head). All in all, we'd definitely stay here again, but make sure to get a room opposite the pub with a shower!

I was surprised to read that Bath Place Hotel got the reviews it did. I'm sure it shouldn't be classed as luxury hotel, but when I stayed in October 2012 the service was good from everyone I met, particularly the two older ladies. Breakfast included in the rate is like a buffet, but has croissants and cold meat and cheese. I don't eat English breakfast, but it was available if you wanted.
No sausages though, which might be seen as a shame. The coffee is very good, and prepared for each person. The room I had had a DVD player and cute sloping floors. It faced the Turf Tavern and was very lively until closing time which was well before midnight.

So when I needed to stay here again because everything else was full, I asked them for a room with strong internet and they put me in the room right next to the router behind the check-in desk. I had internet the whole week, so I was a very happy camper. I was also immensely pleased that they let me check in when I arrived at 12 as it was a raining and cold day.
Breakfast is still lousy and every. single. coffee they gave me had a broken filter and I got nothing but grinds. I'd mention it, they'd bring me another and surprise, grinds again. I ended up making coffee in my room every day which was much better than the restaurant's.

We were walking around, discovering Oxford, and on the way to the Turf Tavern passed this place. We walked in and we greeted warmly and given a short history of the place and a look around. We booked in for a week on our next visit to Oxford. What a lovely place to stay. Our room was well appointed and furnished, the breakfasts filling and tasty, the bar area very welcoming. What a great place to stay. Come enjoy!
