In the quiet village of Iffley a brisk Thames-side walk from the centre of Oxford you will find Hawkwell House a hotel where individuality is recognized, and the guest is king. We are perfectly placed for business meetings near to Oxford. The white house and gardens make an elegant setting for a wedding. And, if you are planning a weekend escape near Oxford, you'll love Hawkwell House.

This is a lovely small hotel. I loved all the vintage shoe and clothing decorations. My room was so very clean and quite spacious. I ate at the hotel and had a wonderfully cooked steak and veg. It is a quiet neighborhood and reasonably close to shops. The price was affordable but definitely it looks upscale and the staff were kind and professional.

My husband and I have just returned from meeting friends at the Hawkwell Hotel for a two night break. The hotel, rooms, staff and food were all excellent, it's got a lovely ambience too. We had a great, relaxing time made even more enjoyable by Wendy, especially at breakfast and Vishnu in the bar and restaurant. We would definitely recommend the hotel and hope to visit again soon. Keep up the good work.

What a great hotel the decor is beautiful and surrounding are great. The lad that check us in was helpful and welcoming. The rooms are faultless and everything is in there that you need for your stay. Staff will give you information for your stay and helpful for the local bus service or will even order a taxi . The car park is spacious. Breakfast WOW the staff are so welcoming and talk you through everything on offer your staff are certainly are asset to running this hotel. Thank-you for a great stay we will be back for sure.

This is one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in. It has character, is extremely clean and tidy, it's nicely decorated with Oxford inventions and innovations and every member of staff made us feel welcome and at ease. On the first night, we walked 5 minutes down the road to a pub in the village which served food. The next day, 5 minutes in the opposite direction is a bus stop on the main road that goes into the city centre every 20 minutes or so and takes just 10 minutes.
Breakfast in the hotel had full cooked English and continental buffet choices and kept us full into the afternoon. The bed was incredibly comfortable and actually helped my girlfriend's back so much that we're looking to buy the same make for home! The TV in the room was enormous, and while we didn't go there to watch TV, it was great to lie there after a busy day in a comfy bed in front of it.
The icing on the cake was that I left my laptop charger in the room, and the hotel very kindly posted it back to me. Thank you. Considering you can leave the hotel and be in the city centre on the bus within minutes, I don't know why you'd choose a much more expensive hotel closer to the city. This one has a large car park where we left the car the whole time, and they let us keep it there the whole day after we checked out while we went on another exploring session.
We will 100% stay here again when we come back to Oxford. Mercure is a global hotel brand with hundreds of hotels, but this felt like a family hotel run by absolute professionals. Special thanks to Chavi, Wendy and Vishnu for making our stay so good.

A delightful hotel tucked away in the outskirts of Oxford, close enough to the town to not miss out on anything but far enough away to feel like a country retreat. There are two gorgeous buildings for accommodation set in pretty grounds. The restaurant is a hidden gem with a seasonal menu that is truly delicious.

GCattermole makes some valid points, however we paid 55 for a double room on a Friday, Some paid 95, the list rate is higher still. So I'm rating it on value against say a travelodge, in which case it was really good value, why: Good rooms Includes breakfast Bar open as long as guests want. 5 taxi from centre Pleasant bar and lounge. Saturday breakfast between 8.45 and 9.45 was chaotic, waits for tables etc., but OK when we had it. Not a top hotel, but perfectlt good, and great value.

We went here for a friends wedding and it was a lovely location situated in Iffley, a village outside of Oxford. The gardens were lovely and the hotel itself really clean. The conservatory where the wedding was held was quite dated so I wouldn't recommend it for a wedding. The lounge bar overlooks the front lawn where you can play croquet. Beautiful on a sunny day
