The farmhouse, Sherley's Farm, dates from about 1528 and we are advised that parts of the building may be over 100 years older. Sherley's Farm is unique in that it is the only complete farmhouse in Greater London and is a three frame house, whereas most buildings of this age are only two frames. Some of the oak frames used in the building were dragged here from the River Thames having been scavenged from old ships. It is rumoured that a ship's name can be seen on one of the timbers, but we have not found it yet.

Rooms were spacious and luxurious, but shower leaked onto floor. Food was any thing but good. buffet food was plain, lacked garnish and colour, . Scones were partially uncooked and should never have been presented Breakfast was standard plated cooked breakfast, cold with scraps of bacon, with very greasy scrambled egg, no alternative choice on cereals, only cornflakes, only orange juice, no pastries or continental choices, service was just as unexciting, barely a smile or any enthusiasm. No comment when we left our whole breakfast. Didn't have breakfast the next day. Had a better quality stay at a cheaper hotel in the same area. Very disappointed

As we got to the hotel at 9:30pm I went to the reception to check in. I confirmed my name and the receptionist said he had it booked for 1 person. I booked for 2 adults, a baby and special requested a cot. The receptionist made us wait for approx 10mins to call another colleague. (My baby is now started to moan as it's his bedtime and he's due a bottle after a long journey) When the women came down she said that I had booked it wrong and for only one person.
She then said that there wasn't a cot available. I'm extremely annoyed with the hotel as I had a 4 hour drive from Blackpool, and arriving in the evening with a 4 month old baby. I felt like whoever made the error I shouldn't have been left standing around being told there wasn't a cot. So we had to look for another hotel at 9:45pm. Customer service skills are terrible. Wouldn't recommend unfortunately! I felt like they could have resolved the matter a lot better.

I would give more. Everything ( service, location, staff)was fine. One of my kins stayed there a couple of months ago so I was there every day. I was very dissatisfied by one barman. We went there for a drink and he was really rude with us where us he was very polite and friendly with other customers. From the time we entered the bar he made us understand that we were unacceptable.
The guy was tall plump with a little beard. It's a shame for such a nice lovely and friendly hotel to have staff like him because all of the other members of the staff were really polite, friendly and welcoming with what we needed.

Great service from a very friendly and knowledgeable crew. The location outside of city centre but in the vicinity of the London underground makes this a great hotel for a stay in London. The only negative regarding a noisy shower doesn't prevent me from rating this hotel with the full set of stars.

Over the past 35 years we have lived in Ruislip but now live in the Midlands. We have had many dinner's at The Barn(inc. Xmas & special occasions) & our son who lives in Madrid always stays here at the Barn. We only stayed for one night but found our room exceptionally lovely & well appointed. We also had a delicious breakfast. The staff ( & we know some from previous visits)were charming, helpful & very attentive. Your establishment fully deserves the five stars. Thank you for everything Colin & Marion Chandler

The staff were welcoming and helpful, and very clear in explanations for bookings. The catering was also very satisfactory, and the food delicious. The only drawback was the parking, and it would be helpful to have clear understanding and directions to overflow parking outside the premises. I was one of the last to arrive at my father's funeral reception, and was directed to narrow reserved hotel guest parking at the end of the long driveway, not advisable for exiting in dark or wet weather, and I had to reverse out. For future visitors who cannot park, I understand that the Ruislip Rugby Football Club has ample free parking, accessible on the other side of the road.

I stayed here with my family around 1963/64 when Dad was posted to one of the Ruislip Air Force bases. So I would have been 3 or 4 years old, but I can still remember the Barn Hotel -- at least the old half-timbered buildings. We must have had a good time and good food while we were here. Mom was a British citizen and wanted to live in the town. After we got the bungalow on nearby Herlwyn Avenue, we often walked to shopping on High Street and could see the Barn Hotel from the road as we passed by. Glad to see the place still operating after all these years.

It was an excellent hotel to stay in outside US. Stood in the new wing, Deans Lodge, the rooms were very spacious, all toiletries available even slippers. They need to work on their room safe perhaps upgrade to new user friendly ones. Carpet also needs some TLC. Definitely a place with lots of history and character. All employees we were in contact with were really nice, 2 min walk to Ruislip train station which was a great way to get to London. I would have liked to have a luggage rack in the room. I would definitely return to this hotel.

Stayed here for one night and had a very mixed evening. The rooms were absolutely awful. Flaking paint, tiles coming off the wall and just very poor internal decor. The room was so bad that we asked to move and were given another room that, although not as bad, was still very poor. However, the staff were very pleasant throughout and very helpful (I hope this is not because it happens all the time!).
The food was another matter. The set menus start at approx 85 which does appear to be a little bit pricey, but do not be put off because the food is absolutely amazing. Intertwined with the 3 courses are another number of smaller courses to really set your pallet dancing. I have never eaten such beautiful and clever food. At the end of the meal I did not feel completely stuffed, but pleasantly full, all washed down with a lovely bottle of red.
The food here is amazing, pity the rooms do not live up to the same standards. A good place to go to treat yourself to a wonderful evening of food (just don't stay the night!).

Surprising small hotel very close to Ruislip station. The hotel has reasonable parking and the reception, bar and restaurant areas were well appointed. The conference room I was in is in urgent need of redecoration and the coffee was lukewarm. However the food was good- staff exceptionally friendly- a refreshing alternative to the boring chains, especially good if you have people coming by car and public transport
