The Hanover

Perfect hotel in a perfect location. I try to operate a no nonsense approach with hotels - arrive, quickly check-in and then be left alone until I leave. I had all of that at the Portico. The room was small but very clean and modern. The only thing that would have been nice to have was drinking water in the room but I won't mark my review down for that. Thank you very much.

At first, I wanted to say that this hotel has probably the most comfortable beds I have ever sleped in. The room was very clean and the space was very big. The price was definitely adequate. The breakfast was something new for us, cause you will get a bag with pre-packed food and you take it to your room. This wasn't bad but definitely you should know. Lastely, the hotel doesn't have a lift. Overall I would stay here again (next time with lighter baggage)

There's no lift; we were on the fourth floor. Each flight is double. The lights are keyed to the door card, very odd. Lovely room, lovely view. Bathroom was excellent. Our heat wasn't working but it fixed in an hour. Staff was pleasant but struggling. They ran out breakfast well before nine.they said many times there would be breakfast. Never came.

Was lovely - very friendly staff and perfectly positioned- I had a strange breakfast as I just did grab and go and they may have forgotten the yoghurt? My only gripe was the fact there were so many stairs to climb with a bag! If you end up in room 405. -be prepared - it's further than a 4th floor - because there seem to be so many mezzanines. Room was lovely and staff kind (I spent very little time in the hotel other than to sleep as I was working - so my treck up and down the stairs was the highlight of the stay to be fair! ). oh - and the cleaners in the adjacent rooms were blooming noisy 4-5 PM.

Clean, comfortable and well-appointed hotel ideal for the Victoria. Breakfast in a paper bag, so not 5 stars, but would certainly stay there again.

Small rooms, super basic breakfast and the hairdryer didn't work. Also, there's no way to contact with them by e-mail so foreign people have to pay for the call.

Really nice place to stay close to victoria rail station and underground. The bed and the pillows were sooo comfortable and i completely relax. Everything were clean and tidy each morning.

I booked this hotel for a 3 night stay at the end of Feb 2022 and I have to say it was excellent! Upon arrival, we had a warm welcome from the lady on reception who was very friendly and helpful. There were 3 people in my party so we had a triple room which was just perfect for what we wanted. It was very clean and fresh towels were provided if needed each day.

It was in a great location just a 5 min walk from Victoria coach station and 10 min walk to Victoria train/tube station. I was that impressed that I have booked again for another stay with friends later in the year.

Terrible hotel, I booked to stay for the night at a price of 100 pounds. I got a message saying they are moving us hotel to a room that cost 60. so the hotel would profit money. asked for money back and took a week.

Room ok. Ended up being a different hotel name, than the one booked. Had to ask twice in regards to payment as it was a bit complicated.

I was really disappointed with everything about this hotel the price is shocking and I will never stay there again. The room was really poor for the price. Tv, not working plug shockets not working insects on the floor and the breakfast was a joke. A apple and cereal bar and yogurt in a paper bag handed to you in the morning. I was expecting a hot breakfast for 250.00 for two night stay never again lesson learnt. Mr Tyrer

Clean, comfortable, quiet, friendly and fine for an overnight stay. Our room was small but perfectly formed and stocked with everything we needed for an ideal stay in a central location. Victoria train station is a short walk away and there is plenty around the area to keep the curious traveller interested. Would definitely stay again if in that part of town. Also very good value for money.

What a disappointment. The pictures online do not represent this hotel at all. 1) There is no lift - expect to carry your bags up and down the stairs. 2) The 'continental' breakfast has canned fruit cocktail and packaged meats and cheeses - don't expect any eggs or fresh meat. 3) The rooms are dirty in disrepair and extremely small.

We stayed at this hotel in early Oct 2019. 1 and 2 above would have been acceptable if the room had been clean and up to standard. The carpet and drapes, walls and baseboards were dirty (even in the hallway). There was mold in the shower and on the bathroom door. My husband got bit by a spider and I got bit by a bed bug. I would never recommend this hotel. There's definitely better choices for a similar price in London. Don't bother.

Do not recommend. Staff was friendly but carpet was filthy, construction across the street very noisy, room tiny, no daily housekeeping (they just emptied our garbage which was bizarre), shower leaked up through the ceiling, our "balcony" was covered in cigarette butts and shared with the room next door (incredibly loud group- we heard everything). I would never stay again.

I stayed here last May with other students from my university. The room was extremely small, so small it barely fit the beds. The floor was extremely uneven and my bed was slanted down at an angle. There were unsettling red stains on the carpet and the room was miserably hot even with the window open. The whole room just felt dirty.

Clean rooms and decent facilities conveniently located in Victoria. The hotel rooms are on many floors, so if your room is on the too floor it is bit of a hike. Breakfast could've been better, though you do get your croissants, toast, cheese and juice. Fresh vegetables would been a nice addition. Breakfast staff wasn't very attentive and seemed to be in the kitchen talking a lot, though some of the tables hadn't been cleared. Reception staff was friendly and helpful and the hotel has a luggage room free of charge for hotel guests.

Only stayed one night for a couple hours. This hotel depends on what you are looking for. We just needed it for a couple hours which was fine and worked perfect. If you are looking to stay a couple nights it is a bit small and there are not elevators. There is a doorman that will take your bags for you. Payed about $70 for the night I am not sure what is the average in London. Stayed here instead of a hostel.

No air conditioning which I probably read about when I booked but forgot. It was fine as the window opened. Bathroom was cramped and not great. Breakfast was very nice. Breakfast room was cramped but guests were friendly and shared tables. Staff working breakfast did a fantastic job. Overall a good place to stay especially if you aren't planning on lounging at the hotel much.

Not sure where to start but bed was not clean brown and yellow stains by the foot of the bed. Also this was apparent when I laid in it because all night I was itching. Lights kept going in and out, toilet wouldn't flush at times, and shower was flooding due to the drain not being fully cleaned. After all that I still made the best of it and when I went to use the hair dryer, that didn't work either which was the breaking point. as sad as that is.

I then went and spoke to the "manager" of the hotel and asked him for a late check out since I was originally suppose to be in by 8 but due to delays, didn't get to the hotel till 2 in the morning. I was scheduled to check out at 10:30 and was just trying to get another hour or two of sleep. He said sure I could stay longer, for more money! What a nightmare of an experience. Do not be fooled by the low prices, go pay more and have peace of mind you will not be staying at a dump!

This hotel seriously lacks an adequately trained or motivated housekeeping staff. While the front desk staff were more than helpful and gracious this hotel lacks an adequate ventilation system and has a serious mold problem in the bathrooms. It was throughout the bathroom grout particularly the shower. Repairs appeared incomplete and hotel lacks an elevator (an issue if mobility challenged) and one I did not discover until we arrived

Good location does not make up for the deficiencies. There are many reviews for this hotel on Trip Advisor. If they are good, it says something like good-value for the money; it they are bad, it says something like not worth the savings. I fall into the latter category. I could not sleep because I was worried that the simple latch hook holding the door shut could easily admit a stranger.

Not the main door, but the door into the shaft. And there was a ladder in the shaft making it easy to move from floor to floor. If you want protein and good coffee, plan on purchasing it elsewhere. If there's anything wrong with your room, forget it. The staff will not budge and the problem will not get fixed.
