The only three things that are pleasant are the concierge/bell boy, the bed is great and location. The staff all treat us like we are an inconvenience. The hotel bar has the worst service. The cleaning crew insist that every door be slammed 100 times per room so if you are international and trying to get adjusted, a bridge down by the river may offer a better experience.
The breakfast is mediocre at best. This could be due to service. Good thing with the location it isn't far to better food and drink. Booked here for a week and our booking was lost. We had it they lost it. Not sure we will last the week before changing hotels. If your lucky the lifts come but do plan on stoping at other floors for no reason. If not the stairs work great.

Very nice hotel. The staff was excellent. Miro walked four blocks rolling our luggage, so we could get a taxi to the Eurostar station. The streets of London were closed due to a bike race. I would definitely stay here when I am in a London again. It was close to everything and the staff was super attentive. Great value for the money. Rooms were extremely clean, bed very comfortable. Couldn't ask for more.

Great location - walking or easy transit access to everything London has to offer. However, the hotel is dated and the rooms are far from elegant. The staff is very kind but we actually got locked out of our room because their system didn't keep a card on file (how very Anna Delvey). Skip the hotel bar.

This is my second time going for bottomless prosecco afternoon tea at the Cavendish. The service was excellent (our waitress Jurate), the little sandwiches were very fresh, and the scones are my all-time favourite. We felt a little bit let down with the patisserie, the lemon tart was not homemade, the choux were filled with heavy chocolate ganache instead of earl grey cream as expected and the red velvet cake was good. I have notified the restaurant manager (Kapil) of my disappointment and was promised another chance to try their finest patisserie.

Meh. Let's start with the positive: The location is incredible. It is central to many attractions, great restaurants, around the corner from the tube. The hotel is nestled on a quite street full of lovely boutique shops. The bed was nice a comfortable. Housekeeping was prompt and kept our room tidy. The staff was helpful and friendly The negative: The room was almost damp and incessantly musky.
The bathroom was fine and served it's purpose but no more. The shower fine, but for the caliber we expected for a hotel of this price we found ourselves disappointed. We found ourselves at the bar on our first night and the staff was unsure of how to make a martini. We were served a lukewarm cup of gin after a long confusing wait on how to make the drink.
I felt bad and tried to help with the recipe but alas. On our second night we found a note requesting a card for the remainder of our visit. My card had already been charged the full amount on night one. They insisted they had trouble with their system and that they would check the following day. The next night we returned to the room to find we were locked out.
I went downstairs to get our keys reactivated and they said they had locked us out due to nonpayment. I pulled up my bank statement to show them the charge and they reinstated our access. On the final day, they charged my card the full amount again which I had to dispute with my credit card. There was some strange leak coming from the ceiling in the lobby. It was not a BAD stay by all means, it just wasn't great. It is listed as a 4-star hotel but this was no better than a Radisson or LaQuinta.

Unfortunately not going in line with the other reviews. After arriving the hotel, the cavendish asked for a credit card block of 150E which for me was highly unusual because the stay was paid upfront. Arriving in the room, the smell was bad and the service was also not very kind for what you could at least expect from a hotel in that kind of area. Furthermore, the breakfast didn't have coffee and after several times of asking and waiting, the breakfast also disappointed.
Maybe I should give two stars because one of the service employees was at least picking up on that note. Sorry to write this critical review but also want to be sincere and warning other guests. Hope it helps in you making the right choice. Bye and take care

The staff at this hotel were fantastic, especially Antonelle who was on reception when we arrived. The room was nicely decorated and comfortable, the only let down was the walls are quite thin as we could hear a couple in the room next to us arguing at 2am! Otherwise this would have been 5 stars from me.

We have stayed here on many occasions due to its location. I am not sure what has happened to this hotel but all I can say that it was dirty, dated and just unpleasant experience. Bathroom had a hair in the bath. Holes and chipped paint in the walls. Thick dust behind the towel rail. The pillow cases had holes in them. The decorative bed cushions had marks on them.
There was mould around the window. The room was small for a superior and the noise from the hall way during the evening was awful. This will be the last time I stay at this hotel.

We came for afternoon tea and it was just perfect. We were served by Andrey he was pleasant made conversation with us told us exactly what was in the afternoon tea and kept us topped up with Prosecco. Would highly recommend the Cavandish for afternoon tea. We will definitely be back for an overnight stay.

Me and my partner stayed at the cavendish last night after visiting London's west end to catch a show. The staff are super helpful and the rooms are nice and clean with a comfortable bed. Food was nice with great room service. We will 100% be staying back at the cavendish when we visit London again in a couple of months.

Went for Afternoon Tea at The Cavendish Hotel. We were served by Gerda and all I can was that she was amazing - she made us feel really special and was really attentive and kept us regularly topped up with drinks throughout. Her service was above and beyond. She even got us an umbrella for when we left as it had started raining quite heavily. She made our visit even more special and enjoyable. The afternoon tea itself was fantastic. Definitely would come back again.

It was my first time visiting London in May. I was visiting because I was going to be going over there for school in the fall. I can safely say that The Cavendish ruined my entire trip and added to my anxiety that I would not fit in in this city. First off, we were not welcomed warmly by the front desk and the man behind it was quite rude when checking us in because we didn't state our last name when he asked for our name.
When we ordered a taxi to visit my school, I was nervous so I did not mind my head when I entered the taxi. I hit my head on the taxi hard, and another man working there, instead of pretending he didn't see it or asking if I was okay, said rudely like I was an embarrassment to be seen there, said "carefully" in an exasperated tone. Further, on another day, we asked the concierge what the best way to get to a certain location (that was quite far away) was, as we had never been to the city.
Instead of offering us help, he in a condescending tone asked why we haven't checked our papers for directions. We obviously did and researched it online extensively, but asking a native of the city seemed like a logical option at the time. Now we regret that too. However I will say the hotel checked in on us when we were at our location since it was far and we requested a taxi.
That was very nice. Finally, my towel had a long black hair on it (did not match out hair) and my sister's pillow had stains on it. I'm not someone who likes leaving bad reviews, I never ask for anything or complain, but this one hurt because it ruined my experience and now I'm scared to move to London because of how unwelcome I felt. Excellent location though.

Loved this hotel. I cannot say enough great things about the Cavendish. Unfortunately, I only stayed for one night but the one night I stayed was excellent. I was in London for over a week and the best night's sleep I had in this hotel. The rooms themselves: super clean, rooms were very large- so spacious, bathroom was great (tub and a shower).
Bed was a true King sized bed (as you would find in the US) and it was super comfortable. The room was very quiet (although we had a horrible view of a back alley/other building, but we really didn't care as it was only 1 night). Staff was very helpful and friendly. Very walkable to lots of touristy attractions including Piccadilly. Only small complaint was our room did not have a minibar. Overall, I would definitely stay here again.

I got the Cavendish Hotel on my hotels tonight app. The app has always been spot on. From the minute we stepped out of the cab to the check out, they were nice and professional. Rooms are clean, just the right size. Staff are very friendly. Location is awesome if it's your first time in London as it's located to a lot of things.even walking distance. I will definitely stay here again!

I researched all the hotels in this area obsessively before choosing The Cavendish and my efforts definitely paid off. It's one of the best places I've stayed and would definitely come back to The Cavendish again and again! My mom and I visited for 5 nights in a junior suite - very spacious for the two of us. Service, location, cleanliness - all top notch. I also REALLY enjoyed the breakfast each morning at the restaurant on the 1st floor - so delicious! Thank you Cavendish for the great stay!

I stayed 6 nights I believe. The location for me was great The posh men's clothing district. I had a Lauduree across the street, a great underground restaurant down the block. The underground was on the corner. I took taxis everywhere but only got on the tube once Not my thing The breakfast is about $20 it was nice, just like Paris. It was more than decent than any food I could find in London The concierge got me into Gordon Ramsay, and the front desk protected me from odd men who kept following me.
The staff were calling me "Pamela" a nice black lady finally told me why, they were calling me the pamela Anderson. A waiter from Gordon Ramsay was coming to the hotel to leave me notes! They were nice enough to say I wasn't there, and warn me if he was coming back. Then I had some other stranglers waiting for my presence in the lobby bar.! I swear London can't handle me!
I was always overdressed and approached by men. I'm married, thank god for this staff and their intuition They knew I was travelling alone. I was there long enough. The bar was nice, so was the window washer! Saying hi to me as I watched tv and did my make up. The best thing about that room is there's a Bose where you can blast Morrissey and no one complains.
Small room compared to USA. Just like Paris. But this room has excellent showers, deep tubs that I love, walking distance to Piccadilly Circus and Buckingham Palace and all, there's a Fortnum & Mason nearby to shop and eat. There's lots of pubs nearby. I never heard anything bad about the Cavendish I'm about to go plan my trip to London/Dublin I may just come back here. Hopefully no weirdos this time. I should upload the psycho note the waiter from Gordon Ramsay left me. Lol

Very convenient location, in the heart of Piccadilly, within walking distance to Theatreland, Leicester Square, Buckingham Palace and Mayfair. The room was clean, luxurious, with lots of amenities, however a little on the small side. The staff was pleasant, smiling and always available to help. The price was reasonable. Overall I was happy with my stay.

My first experience was Serena and she couldn't have been ruder or less accommodating. I upgraded 30 and got a room with a view of a brick wall. If you don't go higher than floor 10 you get a crappy view and noisy street. The bar is set in a hallway with no beer on tap. Decent scotch selection. Last a boutique hotel should be hip or at least new looking. This looks like a smoking lounge or library. I wanted a fun place for the weekend with my wife. I got my grandfather's study for 290

The bar here is an excellent place for a date! I was a lil confused when I came in, as the lobby is quite underwhelming at the side entrance - and only then did I notice that they'd moved the bar upstairs. The service was incredible, as you'd expect for an establishment like this, and we got some fancy complimentary nibbles which is really lovely. Good times! Would return in a heartbeat :

I was lucky enough to win a night's stay here back in January. A very nice comfortable hotel. Very centrally located. A slight confusion with the entrance actually being on Duke Street St James, which confused me and the taxi driver that came to pick me up. I had a room on the 11th floor facing North ( I assume the ones facing south have great views of St James' Park and Westminster).
The bedroom and bathroom were nicely decorated and had a great night's sleep in the bed. There was a good choice at breakfast, unfortunately I don't feel that hungry first thing and had to rush off to work so couldn't enjoy more of it.

I stayed here for two nights recently, having arrived at the hotel at 7:30AM - much too early to check in at most hotels. The front desk, however, was extremely accommodating and provided me with a room! Only thing I had an issue with was the bathroom tub door - the seal at the bottom was not tight, and so when showering, water would leak out and drip onto the floor. The first time this happened my floor was partially flooded - I ended up putting towels there as a preemptive measure.

I like this hotel primarily because of its location. Situated on Jermyn St. at the back entrance of Fortnum & Mason's. I love Jermyn St. since its IMO the best place in the world to buy shirts! Everything is convenient from here, except if you have a car then its not a good idea given that parking is extremely expensive. The rooms are a bit larger than most London hotels but very small compared to anything else especially US hotels.

We only went for afternoon tea in the lounge. The lounge was very comfortable, and I was tempted to take a nap. The pricing was modest as well. The teas were typical, but the accompanying scones, finger sandwiches, chocolates, and dessert tarts came out on an exciting display (see photos). As the displays were pretty big, we thought maybe they were meant to be shared, but our server confirmed that each person gets their own.
When we couldn't finish (and we're used to American portions mind you), we asked the server to take it to go. The poor chap obliged and took our trays away. He returned with a cardboard box labeled "brown sugar". Inside, we found our leftover goodies wrapped in aluminum foil. haha! So apparently, take away is not the norm for afternoon tea. :) I'm also thankful that they had complimentary wifi, even for afternoon teakers.

My room was very small but conveniently located to central sights like Buckingham Palace and SOHO was within walking distance. The hotel is situated across the street from Fortnum & Mason. The bed was very comfortable for myself - with a leopard-patterned throw and velvet headboards - but it might be cramped for two people. I couldn't figure out how to adjust the volume on the tv/alarm so every time it went off in the morning it would scare the bejeebus out of me.
Oh and there was no door for the bathroom. Odd, that. The front desk people could be more pleasant but the bell people were very accommodating and offered their services with a smile. There were a couple of computers in the lobby, which I used because the dial-up in the room was quite slow. Their breakfast buffet was mediocre (toast, scrambled eggs, sausage, and beans) but i think it was free with the reservation package I obtained. If the price is competitive with others in the area, I might stay here again however I would be interested in staying in another part of London the next time I visit.
