Set in the heart of Royal Deeside, within the Cairngorms National Park, the Auld Kirk is a fine example of a Victorian Scottish Free Church building. Sensitively converted in 1986 to a small hotel , the Auld Kirk has built a reputation for good food, comfortable accommodation and a warm welcome that is the hallmark of Scottish hospitality.
Services
The coffee lounge at the Auld Kirk offers an informal and relaxed space for customers to enjoy a small but daily changing offering of sweet & savoury pastries, freshly baked filled rolls, delicious cakes and desserts. We also offer a freshly made soup and a hot special of the day at lunchtimes. We have two seating areas within the coffee lounge and outdoor seating is available on the terrace.
The Auld Kirk offers comfortable accommodation with en-suite facilities. We have 7 well-appointed guest bedrooms, with a mix of twin and double and family rooms, all situated on the first floor of the building. An ideal place to stay for a quick stopover or a short stay to explore the beautiful Cairngorms National Park.

Fantastic place to stay. Kevin and Helen are great hosts and we had the pleasure of staying here for six nights. This place is so welcoming and immaculate. Great breakfast and lots of it. Tea room offered great homemade food and wonderful staff. Helen is a great baker and cook. Would highly recommend a stay here.

Stopped here for lunch on our way through the area. As it was a nice day, sat outside in the lovely garden. The wonderful staff promptly brought our retriever a water bowl and some gravy bones! Our lunch was delightful and the coffee superb. Beautiful establishment inside and out plus a special mention of the toilets. By far the best ive seen! Relaxed atmosphere and made to feel very welcome. Wee stops like this really make a holiday. Thanks folks.

Do you like cool (but not pretentious) boutique hotels, run by warm, welcoming people who can't do enough for you, and the best breakfast you've ever had? If so, this is the place for you! Helen - one for the owners - was an exemplary host, and went to great lengths to ensure my stay was a pleasant one. The absolute highlight for me was the breakfast - so many different options and elements, and all of the highest quality.
I couldn't believe it when I sat down and found a tiered tray that included *home-cooked* scones and croissants - I can still taste the scones now when I think about them - they were so good! And that was as well as loads of fresh fruit and yogurt, and before the impeccably-cooked traditional fried breakfast That may have been the highlight, but it was not the most impressive thing.
That was the fact that Helen realised I'd made a mistake with my planning, and she encouraged me to cancel my second night with her and book somewhere closer to my final destination to ensure I had a better and safer journey. Helen passed up on a night of my money to ensure things were better than me. It really was such a classy move, and made me feel genuinely looked after Oh, and Ballater is quite nice too! I'll definitely go back if get the chance

This place has got a lot of character! Very cosy and warm bedrooms with a very comfortable medium mattress. The breakfast was amazing with home made jam and good selection of breads. The lady that serves the breakfast was very friendly, came across genuine and was more than happy to help. Highly recommend
