The room was spotless and a big size. The bed was really comfy and the person who checked us in and out was very nice. There was always some cake available for guests to help themselves to, which was a nice touch. We plan on staying in Folkestone again in the future and we will definitely rebook to stay here.

Self proclaimed luxury hotel needs to understand what luxury is and isn't. Windows that don't close, drains that don't drain away, tap water bottle in the room are all things that aren't really acceptable at the rates they charge. I also found the staff a bit abrupt, business like, and transactional, not friendly or welcoming. Not once was I asked if things during my stay was ok. The breakfast was ok though. Decor outdated.

My husband and I stayed here on Saturday night. Lovely Victorian building. Ideal for a weekend break. Rooms and house nicely decorated. Bed was clean and comfortable. Lovely hot shower. The breakfast was easily ordered via email and Was delicious both the meat and vegetarian full English. 2 Minutes to the lovely beach. Ideally situated for local restaurants and bars. Laura the host was lovely and welcoming. If I was back in Folkestone I would visit again.

Stayed here for a night away. Very lovely and clean there is a lot of stairs but I'm used to them as I live in a top floor flat. Very quiet. Lovely shower with the white company products. Breakfast in the morning was absolutely beautiful. Was a really pleasant stay just a shame it was not longer. The only downside was the WiFi connection wasn't brilliant being right at the top. And would have been even better if the smart tv was connected to the internet.

My partner Booked The Relish via booking.com, 9 days prior to the date we had booked, so well in advance. As soon as it was booked, confirmation came from booking.com via email, and then shortly after an email from 'Laura' at The Relish (the hotel itself) also confirming the reservation and with various info. We chose it as it had good reviews and it offered the choice to pay in full at the property which we wanted to do.
Not once did it mention needing to confirm card details before hand / when making the booking. We arrived on the day we booked at 4pm, the time we were told the room would be ready, and couldn't get in the front doors as it was locked. Rang the hotel itself to let them know we were outside, but could not get in. A rude woman answered and stated 'she had already emailed the door code to everyone' (which we hadn't got) but said she would give me the code over the phone, and asked for the name the reservation was under.
Once provided she then turned around to say our booking had been 'cancelled on email' due to 'invalid' credit card details (even though we didn't need a credit card - as paying at property and there was no deposit needed prior) and that the room was now unavailable. I said to her that no email was received and asked if there were any other rooms left, to which she said no and told me the 'email was sent to the email YOU provided' upon checking it had gone into junk mail. but why did no one from booking.com / The Relish then think to text, or call to confirm card details or advise this needed to be done online?
Not one single apology from the woman, she pretty much told us to do one and blamed us for the error. After travelling over an hour to Folkestone to stay here, she was not understanding whatsoever and wanted to get off the phone to us leaving us standing outside! Total lack of empathy and a horrible patronising tone. Would not waste your time booking The Relish as the bookings are managed appallingly and the rooms given away instantly. All about money and they don't seem to care about their customers. Vile way to spend a Sunday
