This place is a must stay, for your time in London! I would say that the best part about this hotel is location, location, location. Yet, location, location, location, is not the only thing that makes this hotel great! How about Afternoon Tea, Afternoon Tea, Afternoon Tea and English Breakfast, English Breakfast, English Breakfast! The Platinum Jubilee Afternoon Tea, was an awesome experience!

Everything tasted great and the service was great! After tea, how about a nice stroll to Buckingham Palace, it's only a 3-5 minutes walk. The bed at the Rubens is so heavenly and comfortable that you go straight to sleep. The rooms are decorated in a way that you feel that you are sleeping in a room at Buckingham Palace! This will not be my last time staying at the Rubens! My family and I are definitely coming back!

Now this isn't your average vanilla hotel.and the decor may not be for everyone and to be honest it is perfect British opulence for the London tourist. Everything is maintained well and clean. The bathroom was well fitted out and shower was spacious and had plenty of pressure. I slept great and couldn't believe how quiet it was considering the location.

Probably something to do with the immensely thick heavy curtains. Talking of location, it's literally by Buckingham Palace. Great for Victoria and the rest of the West End. Service was professional, helpful and polite.,.you can't ask more than that. I will be returning for sure.

All the staff are friendly and attentive and nothing is too much trouble. The bars are relaxed and the Curry House served up the best curry I have tasted. The rooms were clean and extremely well appointed. This hotel and it's staff are more than deserving of 5 stars.

Fantastic hotel, this was our second stay. We were greeted on arrival by name, they even asked about our children. They must have made notes from our first stay. A nice touch. We live just outside London and came across this hotel by chance, but we will be staying every time we come into to town now. The staff are very friendly, they made us feel like the most important people staying there.

The hotel is full of character and history. The food is fantastic! We had afternoon tea this time. We had loads left and they boxed it up for us and had it delivered to the room for later. If you are looking for the proper London experience in a five star hotel then you will not be disappointed. Ps, not bumped into the Queen yet, she has been out of town both times we stayed.

We stayed several days while on a WWII tour with the National WWII museum. Quality service, nice room, not large but we didn't spend much time in the room anyway and good restaurants. Very accommodating for our tour group and to us personally when we extended our stay.

Beautiful hotel in all aspects. Love all the doormen who were so engaging and helpful. Where do they learn to whistle for those taxis?! Continental breakfast was filling, with attentive service in a lovely setting. Phenomenal dinner at the Indian restaurant. How I wish I had more room for that butter chicken! --Or could have had the huge amt. of leftovers for the next day.

The rooms were always clean, very neat, sweet notes left in support of what we had going on. I wouldnt hesitate to ever stay there. Great, central location across the street from the royal news and minutes from Buckingham palace.

Great hotel. Staff are brilliant. Location is very central in Victoria. Is a pricey hotel but as a special occasion it is very worth it. Only critic was tea and coffee in room was poor for a hotel of this standard. No complementary biscuits provided either which is a surprise.

I arrived with high expectations of The Rubens and I'm not sure that they were met. The reception and door staff were excellent and check in was straight forward. My first impression of the room was not good. It was very small. I had an appointment so dropped my bags and left. When I returned I had a look around the room and noticed that it was rather shabby.

A broken toilet roll holder, chipped paintwork and the dead bolt did not work. It gives the impression of not being totally clean. There are hot drink facilities but the coffee was awful and there's no fridge. They don't have a gym/fitness centre but you can use some nearby facilities for 25 per session which is ridiculously expensive. My breakfast was first class.

Excellent quality produce and nothing was too much trouble. The continental choice is just as good as the cooked offerings and you can't fault the staff. The communal areas give the feeling of opulence and are a pleasure to be in. I'm just not sure it's a 5 star hotel.

Stayed here on both our jaunts to London and I could honestly say their staff's hospitality is second to none. Everyone from the doormen to the housekeeping service were so friendly and coming back to the hotel after a long day of sightseeing is akin to coming home with everyone greeting you with a big smile and chatting with you about how your day went.

The daily English and continental breakfast was amazing. We stayed for 5 days and 4 nights and I picked a different item off the menu every time. Dining staff was great and very attentive, always there to refill your coffee cups and toast tray. Very strategic location, just a 5 min walk away from the Victoria tube station. Plenty of restaurants and pubs nearby and a brisk 15-20 min walk away from Buckingham Palace.

On our first stay, we were even lucky enough to be staying in a room facing the Royal Mews and my husband was especially excited to see the carriages and horses come in and out every morning. Room was a bit on the small side and I could never wrap my head around the half-sized shower door, but that's just me nitpicking.

Afternoon tea. Meh. Not worth the money. Head over the Dean Street Townhouse for a wonderful afternoon tea experience.

My mother and I stayed here for 3 nights and it was lovely! We got this place from our Costco travel package so didn't exactly know what to expect. When we got here from the airport there was a doorman there to greet us and staff to take our luggage. In fact, all of the staff here is AMAZING! So kind and friendly! We went to check-in and the process was very quick and painless.

The room was (along with the rest of the hotel) was gorgeous. Very spacious and had a great layout. Although as someone coming from the states, if it is your first time in the UK (as it was mine) make sure to flip on the power after you plug something into the outlets. Nothing worse than thinking your phone has been charging for an hour only to see the battery go down.

Other than that the room was great. We got there around 11:30, so after getting settled we walked around London. This hotel's location is AMAZING! There is a great pub/restaurant right across from the hotel and so many other shops and cafes to explore. It was also a very quick walk to Victoria station which was really nice to get around to the places we needed to get to in London.

On our last day there we had their breakfast which was incredible! I had their Vegetarian full English (photo attached) and my mother had the regular full English both were delicious! My mom even tried the black pudding and said it was "not terribly offensive". And I had some veggie bacon that was the best ever, nothing like what you can get in the states! Service-wise they are amazing too!

We had room service after a very late night that was served quickly and devoured quickly as well because of how tasty it was. We also had to end up using their laundry service as I had gotten quite car-sick on the way to the hotel from the airport. They were very understanding about it and got our laundry back to us faster than if we had washed it ourselves! Overall this is a great hotel and we'll definitely be looking into booking again for our next trip!

I am just home from a wonderful stay at this hotel. Nothing was too much for the staff - asking for assistance with my double pram, luggage, room service - everything was FAULTLESS! I travelled with 3 children aged 10, 3 and 18 months. We tried the pastry experience, which was just wonderful for all ages - especially as they were all able to meet the pastry chef herself!

The Prince and Princess Afternoon Tea for the children was beautiful and, again, a fabulous experience - they really did feel like royalty (as did I!). The suites we stayed in were kept exceptionally clean and the beds were so comfortable! A special THANK YOU to Maisie, Tony, Aaron, George, Junior and Sarah (Pastry Chef). It truly was a magical stay. I will certainly be back (this is the only place I will now stay in London!)

From start to end, our stay over Christmas 2021 was a delight! The entire team was incredibly helpful and welcoming and the doormen were fabulous with lots of helpful suggestions and always able to get us a quick taxi! The rooms were lovely and super clean! All the restaurants were excellent, but Afternoon Tea was beyond compare! We highly recommend The Ruben's for your future stay!

This review is solely for afternoon tea at The Rueben's at the Palace. Dress code is smart casual, so you don't have to worry about looking like you're meeting the Queen for those laidback dressers. The experience is nice, and across the palace, so the location is convenient. The food is basically all you can eat and drink, and there's just too much of everything to finish everything.

I personally preferred the finger sandwiches and the scones. You can have bottomless mulled wine in the Christmas time or bottomless champagne. For non-drinkers, one pot of tea is more than enough for the afternoon.

Craig the concierge made a good stay turn into an amazing stay. He was Always so happy and enthusiastic, and loved talking to me and my partner about my home country Australia. Unfortunately he went on his break for us to give him a well deserved tip. We will be back to spoil him next time. Bunya mountains big fell

Great hotel! Customer service is second to none and always happy to cater to any special requests. Only stayed for the 1 night but thoroughly enjoyed the entirety of my short stay. Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to stay in a higher budget hotel in London.

We had such a wonderful time. The festive afternoon tea was amazing. We had a warm welcome, great service, top quality food. Definately worth the cost. We can't recommend this experience highly enough. Top points all round and extra thanks to Oliver for looking after us so well on my partner's birthday

I had a lovely afternoon tea here for my Mums birthday. Food was delicious and all the staff were friendly and accomodating. She was also given an extra slice of cake with Happy Birthday on, which is a nice touch. The hotel was like stepping back into another era and I must add the toilets were clean and beautiful!

Extremely professional and polite staff. Very helpful from reception to housekeeping. The decor in the main reception rooms is old world charm. However, our room, a superior king room was not what I was expecting for a 5 hotel. The facilities were more in keeping with 3 establishment. The only nod to luxury was the bedding and towels. No fridge in the room shabby furniture and carpet.

This room must have been missed off the refurbishment list. Maybe they have certain rooms they keep for the tourists? The breakfast was very good and we appreciated the air conditioning.

Lovely hotel, really good centrally located, not far from main bus route, we normally use the tube, but bus was easier. The beds were super comfortable. Asked for extra tea milk and sugar for the room which was immediately supplied. Clean hotel. Very nice friendly staff. Would book here again in an instant

Our favorite hotel in London. We have stayed a couple of times, and consider the Rubens our home in the city. We had an issue, and the manager, Mr. Hendry was very accommodating. The entire staff is incredible. Say hi to Aaron at the front door. This man can tell you anything about London you could ever want to know. Almost every morning, we listen for the clip clop of horses hooves and watch the procession parade by. Beautiful rooms in a beautiful building with a rich history right across from Buckingham palace. THE best hotel in London.

This was a great hotel. What really made me feel heard was in my reservation I notes I was celebrating my birthday and they left some surprises for me in my room. Hand written cards wishing me a happy birthday special pillow embroidered with happy birthday and. Cake. Talk about paying attention. The twin beds are quite small and the sheets just fit so if you like to engulf yourself in your sheets like I do well it makes it challenging.

The staff overall were friendly we ate breakfast every day in their English grill and it was good. I had a challenge getting my eggs how I liked it but morning to complain about. We had dinner there one night as well and the food was great and o asked them to create my own version of a hottie tottie and they did no hassle they actually welcomed it.

I struggle with rating this place. The staff was 5 stars and they were wonderful! The daily breakfast was 5 stars as well and was delicious, but the rooms are just dreadful. This hotel is in dire need of a remodel. The rooms are filthy! Why is there fabric on the walls and headboards? Dirty fabric nonetheless. Our room had stained carpets and headboards.

It was nasty. We complained and the staff kindly moved us to a much better room, but even that was dirty as well. Great location and staff, but for the price you are paying for the room. They should be clean. Pics of first room attached.

Costco travel offered this place in the England/Italy class. It's exquisite! The staff is friendly and incredibly helpful. We are there every morning on our 3 night stay. Erica who works in the restaurant in the mornings was wonderfully kind and assisted me while I was trying to hold my child and pack my plate! I ordered cappuccino after a delectable dinner and the already delicious beverage was accompanied by the most buttery tea cookies I've ever had. We had afternoon tea here as well and were NOT disappointed! My boy toy and I will definitely stay here again!

Review is for Afternoon Tea. The location and setting is lovely, and you receive more food than you can eat - so I think it's worth the price. We all loved our teas (albeit a smaller selection than I hoped for). All of the sandwiches were good and the scones were yummy - but the desserts as a whole were a miss. Only one was good. but you're so full by then it doesn't really make as difference. I recommend stopping by since it's so close to the palace - a perfect afternoon out!

Although it could be a bit pricey, for its location, service, style and cleaniness of the hotel rooms, I found the stay quite enjoyable. The hotel itself is situated with a 5min walk from the Victoria station which was great because we took the Tube as much as possible. The station also goes to and from Gatwick which was super convenient. It is also located right next to Buckingham Palace and St. James Park and basically was super easy to go to other popular spots like Westminster and Trafalgar square. Coming from New York City, a couple of miles of walking was nothing for me.

To save some cash, we selected the extra small room which truly met its name, it was quite small. The room fits a full size bed and some side desks. It didn't bother me because fortunately, the bathroom was the perfect normal size with plenty of towels and space to get ready. Overall, the hotel met all our needs in terms of convenience and comfort. A great pick when visiting.
