Yesterday evening was the worst hotel experience we have ever had. We were physically threatened by the owner of the hotel, he threatened to phone the police to have us removed from the hotel (despite it being his misunderstanding!) and what was supposed to be a relaxing night away was completely ruined. I did see a similar review on here about this owner and wish I had listened to it and we never booked here - don't make the same the mistake!
We had booked with the hotel a few weeks ago to use a buyagift voucher with them after viewing the hotel on the buyagift portal. Our booking was confirmed (twice!) but once we arrived and had got keys and checked in, I received an angry call from the owner saying that they don't accept vouchers, had never accepted vouchers and that we had to leave.
He didn't once listen to me trying to explain the situation and was very aggressive & obnoxious. I should say at this point that the staff on the front desk were very helpful and tried to explain the situation to the owner (who wasn't on site), but he wouldn't listen to either of us. After some time we managed to get buyagift to confirm that they would reimburse the hotel for the room, but we were then threatened to have the police called to remove us from the property.
I still can't believe I remained calm as I'm typing this, as we felt completely victimised. We didn't have anywhere else to stay and by this time it was nearly 7pm (took 3+ hours to resolve) so thankfully the owner actually listened to his staff member and accepted an email was sufficient. The owner had obviously lied to us about never having used vouchers, as it ended up they had a portal with buyagift to log in to collect the payment!
I can only assume this is a tactic they use to try and scare people into paying more money. Either way, it ruined the whole experience- we were on edge the whole time we were there because of the physical threats and were in genuine shock in how we had been treated. Even other guests and the staff who were aware of the situation said how ridiculous the owner was behaving.
The unfortunate thing is it's actually a nice quaint hotel and the front desk staff were really good, just completely let down by the owner. I am writing this review to alert others to the behaviour of the hotel owner, in the sincere hope that this hotel is avoided so nobody else has to go through what we did.

This used to be a drinking pub for my sister so was interesting to see how it has changed. It is more of a tea rooms during the day with a very small menu and limited hot food options. Food was delicious - although not much bread with the ploughman's which is strange as bread is the cheapest part. Wine was good and the staff super friendly and helpful. Would go again but might ask for more bread next time.

Character old building and good centre of village location. The staff were friendly but there are obvious gaps as the inn tried to reopen post Covid. No evening meals as they are missing a chef and the bar closed at 7:30pm. The plumbing and wifi were flaky and our overall feeling is that the rates were a little high for the services actually available.

The Angel Inn, Midhurst very kindly provided us with a splendid afternoon tea. The service could not have been better. Such kind and friendly staff, who made sure we had a great experience, providing us with such delicious lemon drizzle cake! I can highly recommend this delightful hotel. 5 star in every respect!

Very disappointed. We booked a Premier room with the dog and when we arrived we were told we had been upgraded to the flat. Ended up in a dingy little flat which needed decorating, the shower door didn't close, the table was lopsided and the fridge stunk! The noise from the outside tables right outside our bedroom window was very loud and the language outside and in the bar on both Friday and Saturday night was foul. Certainly won't be back.

I booked a meeting space last minute for my manager who was hosting a zoom meeting with a client. The staff could not have been more accommodating if they tried. We only needed the space for 1 hour so they gave it free of charge and reserved with only an hours notice. Great parking and great coffee! Highly recommend.
