Alhambra Court Hotel

Great location, friendly and helpful staff. Room was a bit dirty with hairs on sheets and on bath and toenail clippings on the carpet but it was the cheapest hotel in York so can't complain too much. Wi-fi not included (3 per 30 mins) room was quiet even on a Friday (I was on the 1st floor) Late check in was no problem, they are open 24h

Rooms were standard, no breakfast available even though we had booked and paid for this prior to our travel. Location was good close by to all tourist attractions, staff were very helpful, no parking on site so had to carry the luggage from the car park which was situated about 5 mins walk from the hotel.

.Due to the excellent train service to York we arrived early. The reception yold me me i could not have my room -Not before 3.! even though there were not busy To be fair it does state the time on documents. However there was no place to leave the luggage. Had to carry it a round for a while. My partner is disabled so cause a problem. Carpets filthy, room boring, Door locks dont work well, blank walls, not cosy. Better hotels close by.

The rooms here seem bigger than some other travelodges and we both could have stayed here longer our room overlooked the river foss and cliffords tower, its in a great position for the barbican, Q Park and the city centre, next door to the weatherspoons for breakfast if you dont want the travelodge option. Also the reception staff were very helpful and went the extra mile for us.

My husband and i went to york for a short break to celebrate my husbands birthday. We checked in which was great then after the first night we had a letter pushed through the door saying there was problems with the water in that room, we did not encounter any problems at all with the water. We were allocated another room on the same floor just around the corner we felt this was quite inconvenient, when we were about to leave the following day at 11.45am my husband used the toilet and realised when he flushed it there was no water at all and this was the 2nd room we had been moved too. I will surely think twice before booking again.

Arrived literally 2 hours early and asked about early check in and was told it was only available if we paid a 10 supplement. We declined this and asked about leaving our tiny carry bag somewhere until check in only to be told sorry we don't offer that facility either. With no other option we paid the 10 early check in fee only for the lady to look at what room type we had booked and to say they had those rooms already available but just to make you aware that we have work going on tomorrow but it shouldn't disturb your stay!

We woke to the most incredibly loud sound of someone chipping away at the plaster above our door and then to top it all off when we had finally had enough and decided to leave the room we opened the door to leave but couldn't even do that as there was a step ladder leant up our door. But don't worry the work going on won't disturb your stay! Upon checkout there was nobody available to speak to but just an auto check out box to drop your key card in. Appalling service and treatment avoid at all costs

The public areas were clean and staff were helpful and friendly. Our room was clean, albeit dark with a strong smell of cleaning products. Someone had kicked the bathroom door down at some point and the holes had been repaired but it didn't add much to the overall feel of the room! However, it was the cheapest hotel for our dates and it's well located, with most attractions just nearby. The only negative is that the car park is quite a walk away and you only get 30% discount from being a hotel guest.
