Harrabeer Country House is a historic gem in the heart of Dartmoor. Within an easy walk of Yelverton village, with its shops, pub and cafe, we offer classic bed and breakfast accommodation in our Victorian wing plus two charming self-catering apartments in the converted 17th Century stone barn. We have been graded as 4-star Guest Accommodation and boast of Silver Breakfast Awards. Our self-catering guests are welcome to join us for a freshly cooked breakfast, and all our guests enjoy the use of the atmospheric lounge bar which dates from the 1680s.
Services
I've travelled to all corners of the globe on business and pleasure, staying in accommodation ranging from swish hotels in Singapore to treehouses in Sumatra. And for decades, I've dreamed of taking the best of what I've experienced and creating my own haven for holidaymakers, using my background in corporate hospitality and interior design.
We offer 4-star bed and breakfast accommodation in our family-owned house, providing a home from home to our guests with a personal and friendly service. We currently have three king/double bedrooms, one with the option of twin or king-size beds (please specify at the time of booking). Updated photos will be added as soon as possible.
We are a family-run business, providing a home from home to our guests with a personal and friendly service. Prices quoted include bed and breakfast for king, double or twin rooms with ensuite bathroom facilities. A 10% reduction is offered on stays of 7 nights or more. Each additional night thereafter is calculated on a pro rata basis.
We have converted the ground and first floor of the 17th century stone barn into 2 separate, self-catering apartments each sleeping 2 guests (a further 1-2 by arrangement). Each is tastefully decorated, comfortably furnished and well equipped. We have preserved the characterful old timbers and exposed stonework and combined them with the comforts of a 'home from home'.

The Harrabeer Country House Hotel is in an absolutely wonderful location and the hotel itself can only be described as a credit to the lovely new owner Nicky and the obvious effort she's putting into her new venture. There was absolutely nothing too much trouble for her - and her breakfasts were really exceptional- I'm not the easiest person to cook for being almost vegetarian but she wasn't fazed at all and my food was fantastic. Nicky was a little apologetic about the room (she said it's going to be updated soon) but she needn't have worried - it was fine!
The en-suite was massive! It's going to be great returning to the hotel in the future and keeping up the friendship (she's really that nice) with Nicky and seeing her plans come to fruition. Next time we intend staying closer to the hotel and taking advantage of the local attractions- And there are plenty! Thanks For making our short stay a superb one. Dave Axford.

We have just had our first stay under the new management of the lovely Nicky. She was bubbly, thoughtful and did everything she could to make our stay comfortable. Her thoughtfulness was evident in multiple areas - the special on the breakfast menu, her offer of tea and biscuits on arrival and her service at breakfast. We have booked for a few weeks from now and are looking forward to our next stay!

I was in a complete pickle in Plymouth, my booked accommodation was disgusting and not as described so I was left scrabbling about on a Monday calling every hotel to be told 'no room at the inn'. I called Harrabeer and had just the warmest greeting and offered me a bed for that night and the next. When I arrived (after temp check and hand sanitiser) the welcome was akin to a hug (of course no actual hugging took place).
The warmth of these people just made me feel so much happier. It is a cosy, well run, beautiful place. The hosting is second to none. The bedroom and en suite were immaculate and comfortable, small touches like a clean flannel and shower cap were very welcomed. Breakfast was fabulous with bespoke ordering, none of this 'help yourself from a lukewarm selection' it was cooked to order and perfect.
Even a muffin for the day to send me to work. Evening meal was fantastic, home cooked and so much better than terrible pub food when you are working away all week and the owners Amanda and Michael were so gracious and funny. I will be returning next week for a couple of nights and will return every time I am in the area - thank you so much for helping a slightly upset panicking woman!
Also worth noting they are very sensible with the Covid situation and hand sanitisers everywhere even on the back of the door so when you leave your room you can use it before going into communal areas - very well thought out and I felt very safe.

A very beautiful country house with excellent food, Michael and Amanda are the perfect hosts, welcoming, entertaining and kind. Nothing is too much trouble. We stayed in the upper half of their barn, could not fault anything, very comfortable, the photo's do not do it justice. You will not be disappointed.

Stunningly beautiful barn conversion. Nicely presented throughout and biggest pro was the space inside and the fact it was all ground floor. Everything you need for self catering and they've even thought of the little things. It's in the center of Yelverton, so the perfect base to explore from. There was a bit of a mix up when we arrived but we knew the owner was away so kind of expected something to go awry. Only real down side is you can hear everything the person is doing upstairs through the wooden floorboards.

We were so impressed with Harrabeer Country House. Amanda and Michael were wonderful hosts who went above and beyond expectations. We were greeted with a pot of tea, and Amanda even drove us to and gave us a little of the local reservoir. Breakfast was perfect and the menu was very varied. We loved the homely bar too and the honesty pad! We would definitely come back here. Great value for money too.

Very friendly owners. I really got the feeling they love running their hotel and making their guests feel at home and feel special. The food tastes excellent and the room was very nice. It is also situated very nicely. In a little town with facilities and great to explore national park Dartmoor. We really recommend this hotel to stay. It was lovely!
