PROPER BOOZER. We only stayed for a few pints but it was a great atmosphere with friendly locals. A decent selection of whiskies and a few beers. Would recommend.

I can't think of a more memorable pub. Ian is a legend in his own time. The food was great, whisky selection top notch and boy did we have fun. Cooked us an impromptu breakfast off hours and we went back the next night. Amazing place, I'll never forget it.

Might have ordered slightly too much seafood Crab claws, full lobster and scallops plus bread, salad and chips. An excellent meal and very helpful and friendly staff. Sorry for ruining the chef's night off.

Now I'm slightly biased about this place as I adore Ian and I think he's a pirate of an extraordinary mind. Maybe because we are friends I get that extra magic but I can't tell you how good the seafood platter is. You could travel the world and not find it's equal. Honestly it's that good. Languostines, crab claws, hulking lobster, scallops and a bucket of chips.

Boom there you go. For the half hour it takes to eat it you feel like a Roman god. When you've finished it's like being a medieval king at the end of the feast for the marriage of that ugly daughter you'd never thought you'd shift. Your full and so smuggly happy at the treasure from the deep. The pub is like being in an odd spaceport from star wars.

Don't expect mood lighting and designer decorating. I've seen multiple people just fall off bar stools and once found someone asleep in the urinal. That aside if you like a rough diamond and you crave the good stuff. Come and enjoy this rather amazing, surprising pub at the end of the universe.

Booked a table beforehand but weren't told it was Curry Night. Not a big problem as we like Curry, and the food was excellent, but it took ages to arrive with huge gap between courses. 2.5 hours for one meal!

Rooms are clean and the in house bar features a large choice of beer and whiskey as weel as a pool table. The hotel manager is very nice and his breakfast is hearty and tasty. Be aware that some rooms are right next to the hotel bar which is a local gathering place (it can be a tad noisy until the bar closes)

Excellent little hotel; clean, affordable, cozy. Full Scottish breakfast included in the rate. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Have happily stayed there twice in the last 6 months while touring the distilleries. Short walk to Bruichladdich or bus ride to most of the others.
