The Port Charlotte Hotel is a small 4 star hotel located in a charming, beachside location in the conservation village of Port Charlotte, on the beautiful island of Islay, also known as "The Queen of the Hebrides". We are a small privately-owned and run hotel, bar and restaurant, open all year round to residents and non-residents. We host live traditional music sessions on Wednesday and Sunday evenings throughout the summer season and occasional guest bands. The hotel welcomes dogs in the bedrooms and there are lovely walks on the beaches and countryside on the doorstep.
Services
All our rooms are beautifully appointed with luxury en-suite bathrooms with complimentary toiletries and fluffy white towels All rooms are centrally heated with direct dial telephone, flat screen colour TV and complimentary wireless internet connection. Each room is individually decorated using high quality fabrics and furnishings reflecting the mood and colour of the area to ensure your comfort and relaxation. We have two ground floor rooms for ease of access for mobility impaired guests. Our family room offers two double beds.
The incredible West Coast ingredients provide the inspiration for our changing seasonal menus. We source as much of the food as we can from local producers and suppliers, all of whom specialise in quality. The beef, chicken, pigeon and venison comes from Argyll farmers and estates and is sourced by our independent butcher Archie Ferguson on the mainland at Lochgilphead.
Local produce, freshly prepared to order and served in elegant surroundings is the central theme of the restaurant. Apart from its world-renowned single malt whiskies, Islay exports some of the best seafood in Britain. You can expect beef, venison and lamb from local farms, game, including woodcock and red partridge from island estates and scallops, lobsters, oysters, crab, langoustines and prawns from the Islay fishing fleet to feature on the menus.Quality vegetarian dishes are always a feature, as are a selection of fine wines from around the world supplied by Corney & Barrow.
From time to time we host special events, such as our Hogmanay dinner, with special menus. We can also cater for small groups celebrating their own special event including weddings, anniversaries, Christening parties, birthdays etc. We would be delighted to discuss your requirements and talk through some options to make your occasion really special.

I have been to Islay many times and would say that I love the place. On a family trip to celebrate my daughter's 30th birthday we chose to have a celebration dinner at the Port Charlotte. Big mistake. Their idea of an appropriate setting for this was to cram 12 of us into a corner of the bar where the service was problematic because of how busy it was.
If I had wanted a casual pub dinner it would have been perfect. In future, I will choose a place where they understand a sense of occasion. Very disappointed and feel stung at how expensive it was for something ordinary at best.

We have visited The Port Charlotte Hotel during our holiday for drinks on a few occasions and once for dinner. We have thoroughly enjoyed it each time! The restaurant had fantastic service and gorgeous views of the beach. The meals we're well priced and well portioned. I would thoroughly recommend and am excited to return!

We chose this Hotel for our 2 week trip to Islay and it was the best choice we could have made. This place is absolutely gorgeous, the rooms are beautiful and comfortable. The food provided in the Restaurant is superb. We enjoyed everything here. And, in addition, the bar has no less than 139 Islay whiskies on the menu. Slainte Mhath!;-

Recently had the pleasure of visiting Islay as a group of ten. We booked at the pub for dinner and drinks and we're not disappointed! A lovely warm welcome, beautiful service, great food, cosy atmosphere and even the added bonus of traditional music in the evening. Great selection of whisky to boot. Would love to come back and stay as the hotel looked gorgeous. Thank you!
