Our journey so far at Stonehouse Court Hotel has been incredible, and yet we have really only just begun. I took this beautiful property on as a private hotel in the summer of 2004. Although it is undeniably a rare gem, the interior of this stunning Grade II* listed Tudor country house hotel was in need of a great deal of tender loving care. With the support, knowledge and dedication of a first class staff, we set out to create a place that is truly unique and special.

We went for an Only Fools and Fawlty Towers evening. Very much a panto for adults with a meal. Really enjoyed the evening and the meal. Everybody there seemed to really enjoy themselves too, lots of audience participation (if that's not your thing, choose a seat away from the centre). We would definitely go again.

Attended the hotel for a one night stay and first impression was a nice first impression down a short drive. Lots of parking on site some of it on a gravel parking area. Check in process relatively easy and the reception off the bar lounge area. We found the room easily and the room had clean bedding. If you look for issues you will find them. There are perfumed sticks in the wardrobe but I didn't find the smell unpleasant.
We only ate breakfast at the venue and there were a range of yogurts, cereals, toast, waffles, porridge and a self service breakfast. I found the fresh hash browns were crispy and the older one went soggy in the serving counter. The reception was unmanned when staff were on a break and an issue with the shower required a visit to speak the the bar staff.
The on duty manager attended in a reasonable time and offered alternative options. Overall the staff were friendly but the premises in need of TLC, fresh paint, double glazing windows replaced and garden areas tending. Towels were only supplied for one person during our visit.

Lovely old Manor House but the annexe where the bedrooms are is neglected and completely out of keeping with the rest of the hotel. Room needed a complete refurb and it just seemed unloved and an after thought. Grounds are beautiful and the church yard and canal towpath make for a lovely evening walk. Food is top quality and good sized portions. Staff were did their best to be willing and courteous

For my 22nd birthday my family and I went here to have Sunday lunch. Whilst the beef burger and pizza was amazing, the roast lacked a lot of flavour and needed some sauces (+or more gravy?). The staff we saw seemed friendly, but they were very understaffed. We had waiter ourselves and actually deliver drinks to our table in the middle of dinner because after we asked for refills, they never came back. In comparison to other restaurants that charge less, it was a bit dissapointing. The food was a 4/5. The service was 2.5/5.

We had a lovely stay for a special birthday and we were not disappointed. The hotel is set back from the road in large grounds and a 2 minute walk through the gardens brings you to a canal with a tow path either side and a beautiful old church next to the water. There is plenty of outdoor space to relax in and lots of outdoor seating. The hotel itself is old and all the interior and rooms are in keeping with the age of the property. The food was amazing and the best thing of all was the efficiency and friendliness of the staff. Nothing was too much trouble! Would definitely come back.

Staff were faultless and really wanted to please. Restaurant food was excellent as was the service. disappointed that we were over charged for drinks we didn't order which was refunded after we paid and had already left the hotel. Despite asking for the safe in our room to be opened after the previous guests stay this didn't happen throughout our stay.
Also we chose the vouchers for the hotel's green initiative which meant we received two medium glasses of house wine and forfeited the opportunity to have our room cleaned or towels replaced. This was acceptable but toilet papers weren't replaced either.

Wow wonderful changes to the hotel since I last went 11 years ago. Was taken for afternoon tea. All colleagues very helpful and attentive. The afternoon tea, well we had coffee which was delicious. The sandwiches a little dry (could be as we booked later in the day). My favourite part was the warm scone and could have had two. The fizz was great, which came with the tea. Finished up with a cocktail sublime! Looking forward to a return visit and will try dinner next time. Thank you!

Nice quaint hotel. Staff are very organised, friendly and professional surprisingly so as they're mainly kids. Nice to see actually. Young, intelligent, courteous staff obviously brought up properly. Reception chap, barman and two girls in dining are a real credit to themselves and this business. Food is incredible. The chef is inventive and clearly creative so congrats to her.
Room was a family room which was huge but a little tired. I will be back though as it is very reasonably priced and not at all pretentious. Well done to the owner for letting the kids run the hotel.

This was very oldy worldy with real log fires in the reception/bar & dining room. The room was exquisite, with a four poster bed, and a small seating area and even a desk! Great attention to detail, with even dressing gowns & slippers & a sm coffee m/c. The dinner was also delicious and interesting and the staff were very friendly. Well worth a visit. Go on treat yourself or a friend.

Well I arrived and it looked like an old Manor house. Loads of character. Inside the reception was very nice lots of wood. Looked very posh. The hotel has a lot of character. Little stair ways here there and every where. The room was freezing as the radiator had been turned off. Once I'd worked this out it soon warmed up. My room was a famy room, load so space and the beds very comfortable.
The bathroom was large separate shower to the bath. The shower was a walk in shower. But the water pressure was very disappointing. The temperature control was also a let down. It was just hot. Unfortunately I was ill during my stay so I didn't get the full benefit of breakfast as I left early so I didn't pass my cold on to anyone else. The staff were very nice and cheerful.

The hotel could have been lovely as the room and hotel looked great on the surface but could do with some tlc in parts. We asked for our bathroom to be cleaned again as it had hairs/stains in and were told it would be but noone ever came. We also had to ask for extra teabags and again noone came and we ended up going to reception. The evening food was so good and big portions so that was great!
But the breakfast was disappointing as it was cold despite being a buffet and the cups weren't that clean. The gardens looked lovely but the lights weren't turned on in the evening and there were no chairs to sit on. Overall it was disappointing for such a nice setting so we wouldn't return. It was in a good location for exploring different bits of the area however.

A lovely old fashioned Court house, which was clean and very comfortable. The gardens were well kept with plenty of seating outside. Staff were friendly and provided a good service. The reason I only gave it four stars was because although the food was tasty it was served lukewarm, and I like my food hot, also there were a lot of laundry bags left in the corridor on way to bedroom which is not a good look.

Beautiful stunning old hotel with lots of character. Outside area also gorgeous. Good location for visiting local areas. Rooms clean and tidy although some could do with a little tlc but nothing major. Food absolutely lovely but try and book your seats in either restaurant or bar area as fills up quickly. ALL staff helpful, friendly and approachable a credit to the hotel. Would definitely stay again. lounge/bar area
