Would have been 5* across the board apart from cleanliness of room, Extremely dusty in various locations within the room, This kind of accumulation happens over time. Wardrobe not secured to the wall, With young children in the room or elderly this creates a crush hazard if wardrobe were to fall forwards through lack of restraint. Other than that an excellent venue.

Great food after walking round Digley Reservoir. The burger is amazing, but is enough for two people, so sharing is good! The Sunday roast platter is a delicious beast with bottomless Yorkshire puddings and gravy. Generous portions in a delightful and friendly pub, with dog friendly areas (and free biscuits) for the pups Recommended! We haven't tried the rooms, but after lunch were tempted to check in for a nap!

Local boy originally. Flew in from Canada with family to meet a few old friends. Stayed a couple of nights. Great atmosphere. The bar later in the evening was a hoot. Staff friendly and a good laugh. Rooms nice and clean. I would say only thing lacking is a mini bar / fridge but everything else covered.

We didn't stay in the rooms so cannot comment, but had dinner and breakfast here as we were staying in our motorhome. We would thoroughly recommend it! Super helpful and friendly staff. They were happy to amend the details of menu items due to my dietary restrictions (a service they offered before I had to ask). Great food, lovely dining room/bar area and wonderful staff. The views on a good day are great too.

Myself and my husband got married at the Huntsman on Saturday 7th May, and honestly I wish we could relive the whole day again! The venue is just perfect, the staff are incredible and so helpful! We honestly can't thank everyone enough! The room where we got married just looked perfect, and Melissa the wedding coordinator did the most amazing job, I don't have enough good words to say about her and the day itself!
The wedding breakfast was delicious, the guest were commenting on how much they enjoyed the food. I honestly can't thank the whole team enough, the really made the day and stay very enjoyable! I can't wait to come back!

Ben and Connie and the rest of the team do super well. Great turkey and trimmings. Absolute top class plate of food. Fab decor in the restaurant, lovely staff and sheep in the back field to awww at on the way in. Cannot be faulted. Congratulated Ben at the Bar for the food. Like Arnie. I'll be back. Mr H

We met up with good friends 3 weeks ago for lunch. Real welcoming staff from the bar to the table and then a great choice of lunch menu in a very nice space. We all enjoyed separate choice well cooked food and the young ladies' table service was relaxed and spot on. Post meal coffees/drinks away from the table in the entrance lounge no trouble. So impressed we're about to book again to meet other friends in two weeks. Wish my JWL local was as good as this.

Went here a few months ago and looking forward to coming back. The food here was incredible, as was the staff who had such great food and drink knowledge. Nothing was too much trouble for them. When the weather is better you must sit out in their huge garden on the large tables. you won't ever have such a peaceful pint outdoors. Will be back soon when next in holmfirth! EDIT: Came back here after the previous good review and had a very different experience.
This time we had a meal for four people and the service really let it down. We was waiting a long time to not just order but also have any drinks or plates cleared, yet could always see staff just chatting at the back. One waitress was great and seemed like she was running around and having to do way more work as the other two at the time were laying back and just doing their own thing.
My own food the halloumi fries and lamb shank were very nice, however another guest's meal of gammon was swimming in grease and the egg on top was rock hard. The pie another guest had was dry to say the least. Overall just very disappointing this time and didn't reflect the price of what we paid. Also a side was missing and still tried charging for but after telling the staff about this they knocked it off. A big let down and maybe the manager at the time isn't doing their bit with their staff unfortunately, hesitant to travel all the way out to return.

Had the twixmas menu, we chose the cheese and onion pie. It had been sliced and then warmed in the oven. My son had the burger which he enjoyed. Would return not at Christmas as i think the food would be better. The pub itself was lovely inside and very welcoming. Would like to give higher than 3 stars when we return for the 2nd time.

We had a lot of changes due to covid nothing was too much. trouble and they accommodated last minute changes and cancellations. A huge thank you to Claire who went the extra mile before and during the wedding we appreciate all your help! Thanks again

We booked a table at The Huntsman as our post walk meal, the surrounding's and pub itself are beautiful. We were spoilt for choice with the menu but decided on Lemon baked salmon with prawns and the steak pie. Wow! The salmon was baked to perfection and very tasty and the steak pie was packed with tender beef, even our little girls burger was amazing! All reasonably priced too. We will definitely be back!

Stopped here on the way back from Manchester for Sunday as a walk in. They managed to find us a table with a smile. The Sunday dinners were on but we both fancied their Steak & Ale Pie with Mash and a side of Buttered Greens, we were not disappointed and the food was lovely and a nice big portion of Pie which was packed with delicious and chunky pieces of Steak.
I also tried a pint of the Special Plum Pudding Bitter which was tasty. We will definitely return but will book in advance next time. The Pub itself has a nice decor and atmosphere

Absolutely love this pub. So homely and inviting! The food is just so moorish, we go alot for Sunday lunch, and you can see from the pics, as to why! Reasonably priced, great location, busy friendly inviting pub. We have also stayed over here and have to say the duvet offer they have is excellent value for money. Also dog and kid friendly :
