Beautiful gardens and pleasant ambiance. Food below average. Orders taken at bar and paid for in advance. Drinks were forgotten so we had to go in to keep reminding. Terribly short staffed.

We went to Gilbert's the restaurant for Sunday lunch. The menu was as expected. The roast beef was exactly as ordered. The summer pudding was delightful. Highly recommend this setting. Staff were very helpful.

Attended a friend's wedding so stayed for the weekend. Great setting and gave the feel that we were the only ones at staying at the hotel. We stayed in the Garden Lodge the first night. Although comfortable the room/bathroom is starting to look a little tired. The second night we stayed in the main hotel which was fine. We apologise for nearly al the guests descending upon them on the Sunday for breakfast, but bless them they coped very well. At least they had ran early finish to the breakfast serving that day!

Was looking forward to our stay until we arrived and found that we were not staying in the actual hotel but a little block of rooms that are very dated and tired, it was quite a let down. If I had known I would definitely have booked a Premier Inn as they are a lot more inviting, fresh & clean. The walls must be thin as we heard noises from two doors down.

Quite a lot of late night/early morning 3am-5am deliveries and activity outside which was also quite disturbing. We left feeling really tired & reduced our stay. The breakfast was served in the restaurant in a buffet style & the options were OK but the head of service was a little demeaning to the younger staff that seemed very polite and efficient, although she was very pleasant to us it gave a bad vibe overall.

We were really looking forward to our stay but left feeling rather disappointed which is a shame. Maybe check with reception when you book if you're in the main hotel or the separate block as I feel our experience would have been a lot different.

I went here for cream tea. The hotel and grounds are so beautiful. The staff are very friendly and can't do enough to help. The cream tea itself was outstanding. The scones were huge and had just been cooked and were totally delicious. I'd definitely recommend this place. 100%!

Went here for a walk near the hotel grounds with our dog. Woodlands are stunning. Came back to the hotel to sit outside for an afternoon coffee. Service was good asked for the menu to be told they weren't doing food. So we ordered drinks. Later to reslise they had scones etc. Would definitely recommend to go there on a sunny day lovely to sit outside dogs allowed outside. Lots of tables choices. Service could slightly improve but wouldn't put me off. Latta coffees where very week had to ask for extra shot. Coffee could be improved to note.

In love with the vibe at the Grim's. The outdoor space is beautiful. We have been coming here for the last 10 years. They had an event today but that did not disturb the ambience at our table. Perfect for a day out. The forest that surrounds the restaurant is beyond amazing. Yes, the hotel is in the middle of the forest. Very friendly service.

We have had the most incredible time staying here as from the moment we stepped into reception we were treated with kindness and great service by junior who upgraded us following us getting engaged earlier that day. We next stepped into the bar, an open room with a lovely barman that couldn't do enough to help me choose a wine I would like, going above and beyond letting me try them.

Our room was beautiful looking out on the gardens and there was even a table and chairs to sit outside but it was a bit cold. My fiance and I had a bath in the evening and there were jets in the bath that made the experience that much more relaxing and special. The next day when we went for breakfast we were greeted by Debbie who, again, couldn't do enough for us to make our experience of breakfast comfortable and easy.

The food selection was great and the cooked breakfast by chef William was delicious- hot and well seasoned. Overall the hotel is clean and spacious with great grounds- maybe we will be back for our wedding :

Went for a Christmas day meal which was superb. The dining room had been appropriately decorated and the staff were both attentive and efficient. The wine selection was good and other drinks to were available. The gents however though clean was perhaps in need of a revamp as it was somewhat dated There was level access for those less mobile and a car park with plenty of space between bays
