A country oasis within the M25 that deserves 5 . Friendly helpful staff, quiet and well maintained rooms, and what an incredible setting in the Beale arboretum. And to top it off the breakfast was excellent. Lots of fresh fruit, variety of cereal (not just big brand packets), and the cooked options were delicious and poached eggs perfectly soft.

It's such a shame, that given the beautiful grounds and location of this grand old country estate that it seems there has been no.money spent on the hotel since the late 90s! It's tired, out of date and worn out, it feels like walking in to a time warp which is a shame.as it has so much potential. Very overpriced room at 120 with no breakfast (in fact after my nights stay I cancelled breakfast as I think I may have been dissapointed and went locally instead.) The only reason this place got a star is because the staff were lovely. I have stayed at more luxurious B&Bs

Booked in the restaurant for afternoon tea for a baby shower. There were only 5 adults and 3 children. I had booked almost a month in advance and as it's afternoon tea you order when you book so that when you arrive you only need to decide what tea and drinks you have. We arrived at 3:30pm and had a lovely table near the garden. Once we had ordered our drinks we waited for food to arrive.
Well we ended up waiting for about an hour and a half. The children started to complain about being hungry and thank god the weather was nice and they could play in the garden or I don't know what we would have done with them for all that time. When the food did eventually arrive after asking a couple of members of serving staff it was disappointing considering how much they charge for it.
Especially the children's afternoon tea. It was not as described on the menu. The children should have a chocolate brownie and jammy dodger but they were given the same selection of desserts as the adults which included a coffee cake. So not appropriate at all! The clotted cream served was not clotted cream but over whipped double cream which had started to turn to butter so it was lumpy and unpleasant.
On top of this our drinks order was wrong and took forever to come too. And when one of the children's drinks did arrive it was in a chipped glass which the waitress knew and told us to be careful of. So why give it to us in the first place?! The service was snails paced and hard work. I have been a couple of times now and the experience has always been the same. Disappointing.
Thought it was just bad luck the last couple of time. It's a shame because it's such a beautiful setting. I did complain and they did take one of the afternoon teas off the bill but I won't be going back again or recommending them.

Lovely grounds.but my room was infested with large flys! Fortunately the staff moved us to another room (however the bathroom was very outdated and the table surfaces were not clean) The staff was very friendly but I think they need to do a better job of checking the standards of the rooms before guests check in. Whilst we were eating breakfast, we could hear staff having open conversations about how much they wanted to go home. The tea cups at breakfast we're also not the cleanest.

I, along with ten other guests attended a surprise birthday party meal earlier this week at the hotel. The whole evening was such an enjoyable experience. The food, wine and champagne were first class. The hotel, restaurant and bar had a warm and relaxing ambience. The waiters were very courteous and looked after us all so very well. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. Strongly recommended!
