Underwhelmed. The prices were quite toppy and the food quality didn't warrant it. My partner had the halibut, which was a bit overcooked and came with 4 pieces of gnocchi and a watery mushroom sauce. My venison was well cooked but the dish came with a mound of pear compote and a massively over-reduced sauce which was almost solid. Both dishes were also quite small in portion size.
The staff were also a bit disinterested although became more interested when they realised we had booked for food. There are much better places to eat in the area. Go elsewhere instead would be my advice.

I had a lovely stay. Staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was nice and clean and there was a great range of drinks and toiletries in the room. We had cocktails which were served to us out in the sunny garden. The breakfast was Fabulous. We came down for breakfast around 9 and there was everything you could want as (the kitchen was very attentive in refilling) I had a full English and some pastries. You could definitely tell the staff cared about the service they were delivering.

Impeccably clean, friendly staff and a sooo comfortable bed. We got help with our cases which was a godsend. TV too small for the room but otherwise per cent I would recommend this hotel. Lots of history in the building, set in a beautiful small town. Didn't have dinner. fully booked sadly, but the breakfast was superb.

While at the hotel my wife suffered from food poisoning from a local restaurant not the hotel it's self. We had to leave after staying only one night of our booking. After speaking to the hotel receptionist I was left with the impression we could use the rest of our stay at another time or may even get some kind of refund. I had to chase them several times to be told if I book again they would give me a good rate. At over 200 per night would have expected better.

Stsyed here for 3 days.greeted nicely/ warmly by a lovely gentleman.changed our room immediately when i expressed stairs were a problem with my arthritis. Room was exceptionally clean & comfortable but pillows were awful. Evening meal on 1st night was not great & dining staff not knowleable with wines, bringing different brand to what we ordered. Food was just average, breakfast next morning was ok, self service & food had sat on hot trays for a while, everyone touching same serving spoons/ handles.would be better if orders were taken & served from the kitchen.poor service for teas/coffees at breakfast, having to ask several times. Sad to say i wont return, not great value for money & not great service in places.

Good location Rooms are very dated and the carpets needs a serious deep clean and the whole room needs to be modernised, everything just looks a bit worn in this hotel. Food Allergies are not taken very seriously, upon arrival to breakfast the staff didn't ask once if we had any food intolerances. BIG BIG problem, my husband has a gluten allergy. Bathroom - Not clean enough.
We found a long black hair in the bathroom ( not ours) The sink is very dangerous, there are two metal legs under the sink and you keep catching your feet on them, trip hazard. Blinds - If you look close there's brown splash marks on them, disgusting.

We had a gift of a 3 course dinner with cocktails and wine. We added a room for the night. The whole stay was lovely. Helpful and friendly staff without being intrusive. The food was excellent and the room clean and nicely decorated in tone with the old building. As it's in the middle of Lyndhurst we had a pleasant easy walk around the town and onto Boltons Bench with views of the New Forest. We had a great time and would recommend it for a special evening and wander round Lyndhurst.

Stayed here in October as a treat for my Mum. Our rooms were beautiful and even though we were on the front of the hotel on what felt like the busiest road in Britain, we didn't have any problem with traffic noise. I need fresh milk with my tea and I was disappointed that there was no mini fridge in either room, especially for the price we paid. The previous night we had stayed in Bournemouth, overlooking the sea with a balcony.
I paid less and there was a fridge for us to put our milk and a few snacks for our expeditions. That would be a recommendation for me but not the reason I dropped 1 star. That was for the welcome I received. On booking in I was asked if I would like to book a table for dinner, my Mum was still in the car so I said I won't do it now, I'll check with my Mum and let you know.
The response was very negative. Well we're very busy you know, we probably won't be able to fit you in. I said no problem then asked if either room had a walk in shower, again negative response. Basically I should have checked at the time of booking, neither of our rooms have walk in shower, she might be able to down grade me to a room which has one but probably won't get any money back, we're a very busy hotel.
I just said it's fine, we will manage and went to get my Mum from the car. Funnily enough, the first thing we did was make tea and I saw the said lady leaving as I went to the car for the milk! She did say goodbye to me, maybe she had just had a long, hard day or other problems, but this is hospitality, leave it at the door as you walk in. Problem is, you only have one chance to make a first impression. Other staff very friendly and helpful and would definitely stay again.

My wife organised a surprise celebration for my 70th birthday & instead of a quiet, romantic weekend, 12 of our friends descended on the hotel to help me celebrate. It was a brilliant weekend & at all times the staff could not do enough for us. From management to every level of employee nothing was too much trouble & it was service with a smile throughout.
The Breakfasts were superb, everything you would expect from a buffet breakfast, but the quality was excellent, especially the scrambled egg, which a number of our party commented they had never tasted massed produced scrambled eggs like it, cooked perfectly. As was our 3 course meal on the Friday Night. Andrew you can be very proud of your team & please make sure you pass on Marilyn's & my compliments to them. We will certainly return.

Superb friendly and helpful staff. Accommodations were fine but not extravagant. We were delayed from the USA due to Hurricane Edna and had to cancel our first night. We were charged a full night's stay per the policy. I let a friend know who was looking for a room that night and he was told our two rooms had already been booked that night. So both rooms were rebooked, both rooms charged full night's stay for us, and no reply from the unfriendly manager. A real racket.

What a wonderful hotel. We stayed for two nights. the Staff were welcoming and extremely helpful. We ate of the hotel restaurant on both night and although the menu wasn't large there was more than enough variety and the food was to a very high standard. They served one of the best breakfasts we've had and as it was buffet going for seconds wasn't a problem.
They also do a brilliant Afternoon Cream team. The rooms were of a high standard - they were very warm so if you like a cool room just ask for a fan. I can't recommend this hotel enough. a wonderful place to stay.

AWFUL! Went to our room and found blood all over the bed sheets. Reported to concierge who at first did not believe us and laughed. He then told us they were too busy and short staffed to change sheets and we. would need to make our own bed. Thick dust throughout the room, sticky substance on the remote and bugs running along the bedroom floor. I would suggest you really need to sort your service and housekeeping standards before charging 300 a night. Reported all pur issues and was told someone would call us within two days, three weeks later still nothing, shocking.

Wonderful celebration for us, clean, spacious and all staff where very professional. Good was excellent. We were not pestered at the table, the waitress and waiters were behind helpfulness and chatted freely with us without being in are faces. Defiantly will be returning, Thanks for a great evening everyone.

Me and the husband very much enjoyed our two night stay here. The staff are friendly and very welcoming. Christo is quite the character and we enjoyed having him serve us at dinner. Atilla was a delight to. welcome us in the morning for our breakfast although the manager could of cracked a smile. The garden is gorgeous and so peaceful and the hotel in general is spotless. We did have a blocked sink though in our room as it seemed to take so long to drain and hair residue would come back up. We look forward to our next stay!
