Nice rooms, very poor services. We stayed at the hotel under previous management and then it was fairly basic though suited us well. There was a real family feel to the place. Since changing ownership the hotel seems to have changed in part for the good and in part for the worse. We booked a 'Deluxe' Double room and this really was not deluxe. On the good side, the rooms are well furnished, attractively laid out with a nice big open bathroom.
The shower was efficient apart from a loose shower head fitting. We didn't get to use the whirlpool bath so can't comment on that. On the bad side: We had to run the hot tap in the bathroom for two or three minutes to get anything above lukewarm water. The internet signal was mostly unavailable or off. I watched a program on the TV on BBC I player and it took an hour to stream around 10 minutes of it.
We also connected our phones and tablet to the internet and trying to do anything on them was beyond tortuous. Speaking of TV, the available channels should have been a full range of freeview option. In fact all we could watch was the BBC channels. When I tried to watch any of the commercial channels I was told on screen I had to set up an account.
That may have been free to do, I don't know. I do know it should not be necessary. The room was booked for B & B and while the breakfast was adequate we had to order in advance the night before, both what we wanted to eat and the time we wanted it served. One morning when I asked for 9 o'clock I was asked to change to 8:45 as it's not so busy then.
I thought we were the guests. We ate diner in the restaurant once and while the meal was reasonably good, again we had to book a time and select from the menu a good hour and a half in advance. And it turned out it was just the two of us in there. Maybe the other guests knew something we didn't? Needless to say it was a fairly basic meal with no atmosphere.
We didn't try that again. My last issue is about access. My partner is a wheelchair user and when I called to ask about availability I made this clear. I was told that they had no rooms with direct wheelchair access. However my partner can walk a small amount and take very small steps down stairs. So we were told there were two stairs to the room which she should be able to manage. However.
There was no handrail. The shower was not suitable for a disabled person as it had no handrails. In all it would have made sense to just say they had no rooms available for our particular needs. We had a very nice break, only three nights. The only disappointment was the hotel. Oh and yes our issues was raised with a member of staff after breakfast on the first morning. I was told they would be looked into. They weren't or if they were, nothing was done. Ian Troughton

We went for a two days to New Forest with our puppy. The hotel and staff were extremely welcome. The room was cosy, clean and big for 3 of us. We were amazed by the breakfast. Size and the quality were exactly what we needed. Small portions (we were full but not overfed) and high standard kitchen gave us healthy boost for a day. The best British breakfast we ever had.

We had to ask for the heating to be put on because the room was cold. We had to buy our own milk with no offer of the hotel paying for it. The breakfast on Friday was fine, but on Saturday the standard of service was very poor and the meagre piece of smoked haddock was quite remarkable. All in all it was a poor choice of hotel and it spoilt our short break.

On a positive note the location is fantastic. The room was probably the worst I have been in considering the price we paid. The cleanliness was awful and it was clear that whoever cleaned the bathroom had a poo in the toilet and hadn't flushed it away properly and therefore was not cleaned. The hairdryer didn't work, the shower sounded like a machine gun firing for the duration of the shower.
We were asked to book breakfast for the following day.yes I do mean what we were going to eat. Obviously if I didn't feel like it in the morning I would get what I asked for. This was apparently in place due to Covid. Overall, probably the very worst stay we had in any hotel but as said, the location was great.

Stayed here over the weekend and enjoyed it. Room was good size and smartly decorated, so was ensuite with large walk in shower. Bed was big and comfortable. The staff were brilliant, helpful, polite, and very welcoming. Have a drinks bar, and evening meals available. Lovely cooked breakfast, with tea, coffee, and fresh juice. Easy check in/out. Would stay again.

A private hotel that cares for their guests. This is the third time we have stayed and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and comfortable rooms. The room we had this time had been redecorated to a good standard with an excellent ensuite including a walk in shower. Our dog Ben was made welcome. The hotel is set just out of the town centre with the front aspect looking onto the New Forest. It has plenty of parking spaces. Plus a front garden with plenty of seating.
