Had a lovely stay at the penny farthing last week. The staff are all so lovely and genuinely helpful, even though it was a very busy weekend, they handled a full hotel beautifully, and we all felt very well looked after . We were checked in promptly by the reception staff, a lovely helpful chap. My room was brilliant!( mad hatter 5, large double room) it was towards the rear of the building so away from the road, which can be quite busy at times, so perfect for very light sleepers.

My room was absolutely spotless, and well decorated. The bathroom was huge! With a full bath, toilet, shower, sink ( perfect for getting ready for a wedding, which I was!). The bedroom has a dressing table and lots of storage in the wardrobe ( plenty of hangers too!). We had breakfast the next day, perfectly cooked poached eggs! The wait staff were amazing, like I said it was fully booked yet the ladies took it in their stride, smiling and making sure we were all well attended to. Had a wonderful stay, and definitely will book again. Thanks to all the Staff, you're all wonderful people, and can't wait to visit again. Many thanks, Lucy

This hotel was rather disappointing. It is in considerable need of repairs and maintenance. The shower in one room didn't work, in another room it barely worked, the entire place looked to be in need of a massive restoration. The hotel is situated in a lovely small town, but is right next to the main road.

Fabulous! Room was quite small with decor that needed updating, BUT do not let that put you off. It was clean with a comfy bed, wardrobe, dressing table, mirror, tv and tea and coffee making facilities. Great base for exploring the New Forest and the coast. If you have a dog, then they're in for a treat - they'll be welcomed with open arms, literally, and will be completely spoilt.

Breakfast was fabulous and good quality with cereal, a cooked breakfast, toast, jam, honey, tea, coffee. Very short walk into the lovely town. We'll definitely stay here again if we're in that part of the world. Staff were just brilliant.

Nice hotel, comfy beds, large car park, very central, friendly staff. Worst thing was the constant traffic throughout the night, the noise and the headlights, heavy curtains would help. One real complaint was the filthy light pull for the bathroom, so cheap and easy to replace. Would definitely stay again if we had a bedroom at the back of the hotel.

Budget hotel, very friendly staff. Poor quality bed and on a busy rd 5.30am onwards, ok if you get up at this time. Breakfast was fine but on a extremely small plate(child's portion) Carpet in the toilet, very unhygienic.

The apartment was excellent, the hotel itself is a bit tired and old. Dog friendly everywhere, which is a huge plus. The staff was friendly and nice.

Simple hassle free stay. The people running the place are pleasant and friendly. Breakfast is plentiful, very good service. Check-in and out are quick. The room is clean, basic but comfortable. Car parking behind the B&B is free. It is literally a couple of minutes' walk from the High Street. Don't think there is any lifts, so it may not be convenient for the elderly or disabled. Google direction is wrong, should turn into Queen's Parade not Welland Road.

Nice hotel and friendly staff, rooms were a little bit dated but bed was comfy. We had an issue with one of the rooms that hadn't been cleaned resulting in us having to share a room but reception sorted it out and gave us a refund without an issue next day.

Hotel was value for money. Friendly staff who were only too happy to help with any queries. Nothing was too much trouble.

5 stars all day long for this place. The people who run and work here could not be more friendly, each and everyone was so lovely, and best of all they made Betsy the dog really welcome (they even cooked her sausages for breakfast). The room was clean and tidy and the eating and reception area modern and well maintained. The cooked breakfast was really nice (if I had to think of a negative- tinned mushrooms in the breakfast) but that really is the only fault I could find. Highly recommended. Thank you

The staff were very nice and good breakfast, also great having a free car park and near the centre of the village. But the rooms are very very tired and single glazed, traffic is non stop even through the night so impossible to sleep. When lorries drive past the whole place vibrates.

Rooms clean, food was lovely, decor was dated and could do with a lift, stairs were very steep so anybody with impaired mobility should ask if there are accessible rooms, our room was a double it had plenty of space for a king bed which would have been more comfortable, a fan was provided which was a blessing, would stay again if we could have a king room, no real issues otherwise than personal choice for us

Very clean, right in the picturesque Lyndhurst, dog friendly. Breakfast was lovely, as was Sue. Look forward to returning. (Theo says thank you for the sausage at breakfast )

Such great value, great location, plenty of parking and such great staff made our stay here for a wedding such a pleasure. We had a family room and there was more than ample space for everyone. Breakfast was great and the portion sizes perfect. Could not fault and highly highly recommend!

The hotel was spotless the bed was very comfortable the breakfast was very good. The best thing was the mother and daughter team Susan and Danielle they were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is very dog friendly they gave our little Maggie a sausage every morning which was a lovely touch. All in all a very good hotel I would highly recommend. We loved it so much we've booked again next year. Debbie Daly
