Knipoch Hotel Nestling beside Loch Feochan in Argyll, Scotland, lays Knipoch Hotel (pronounced neepoch -och as in loch). This four star country house hotel is privately owned and run by the Craig family. We opened Knipoch as a hotel in 1981 when the original building was refurbished with the reception, kitchen and bedroom wing being added. Prior to this it was our family home with a history.

In 1592, Campbell, Thane of Cawdor was assassinated here at the "house of Knipoch in Lorne". In England as well as Scotland, hotels vary and individually owned hotels each have a personality.
Services
At Knipoch hotel we have 17 bedrooms including a suite and a triple room. All of our rooms are en-suite, with combined bath and shower, and have heating, TV, radio, hairdryer & free toiletries. Each room has a delightful view of either the surrounding countryside or Loch Feochan. There is a superb walk behind the hotel where both you and your pet are safe and free to climb as high as you wish.
Circumstances may force an alteration in prices without notice, so please confirm tariffs when making a reservation. Our restaurant is open for evening meal from 7.30pm with last orders at 8.45pm, and 8.00am until 10.00am for breakfast. There is no accommodation charge for one child under 7 years of age when using existing beds.
The first and smallest is the red dining room, which is oak, panelled using panelling recovered from the ruins of Ypres Cathedral. The open fire adds to the cosy atmosphere. The largest dining room is the gold room, which is also wood paneled, enhanced with signed Russell Flint's prints. Lastly the stone room, which would have been the original Knipoch House, was built in 15th century and was the site of the assassination of Campbell of Cawdor. At Knipoch we always use the finest, seasonally locally sourced products, and our menu changes daily to represent that seasonality.
Knipoch is ideally placed for exploring Argyll and the Western Isles. We are situated 6 miles (10 minutes) south of Oban. The scenery is beautiful, with a panorama of mountains, lochs and islands unfolding around almost every corner. There are plenty of activities to enjoy, including whale watching, golf, fishing, whirlpool boat trips, etc. Take advantage of a number of scenic cycle routes, diving trips, relaxed garden walks or visits to historic monuments and castles.

This is a wonderful country house hotel with a very warm welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. All rooms (public and bedrooms) are spotlessly clean and comfortable. We'll definitely be back - thank you Knipoch Hotel

A house of special history and character in a stunning location. A great welcome, helpful staff, warm and comfortable facilities. A good central point to explore the area. There are woodpeckers in the garden!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The staff were pleasant, the room had everything we required and the food was excellent. Would love to return.

The Knipoch Hotel was very clean and rooms tidy. On arrival Lorna a member of staff greeted us, she was warm and welcoming to me and my friend. We decided to have dinner at the hotel, had a drink before in the bar and a lady called Maria served us, as well as serving us at dinner. Maria was lovely. Her service was professional and she was great fun to chat to and Informative about the area and the history of the hotel.

We were the only two in the dinning room as the some hotels wind down at this time of year. Food was well presented and very tasty. It was a lovely evening my friend and I had catching up after 30 odd years I do think that my bedroom could do with a up date as well as the bathroom decor and mattress, it had a 70's feel.! Having said that it's my second visit, and because of the warm interaction with the staff and quality of food and cleanliness I would most definitely stay again.! Thank you Lorna and Maria for giving such a good care to your guests. And yes I would recommend the Knipoch Hotel to stay at! as well as a very good location.

No food services thoughout the day. Rooms very out dated and lumpy matresses one room even contained fleas. Wifi doesn't work. Far from town and no activities or any facilities. Not recommended for tourists or someone traveling to explore. Very expensive for low quality. The food was very good.

Lovely views, wonderfully clean, very friendly and helpful staff. Only niggle was having a shower curtain instead of a screen - the soggy cloth experience in the shower is not heavenly. The food was plentiful and delicious.

The rooms are big and very bright. Only the airing in the bathroom was annoying and loud. The food was very good and the stuff friendly.

Lovely country house hotel, stayed for 2 nights rooms are spotless clean and everything is available for a comfortable stay. Not your normal run of the mill room as this is a family run hotel rooms are decorated in country house style. VIEWS are beautiful out into the loch and mountains and all the staff extremely friendly and helpful, breakfast was lovely plenty to chose from cereals, fruit, cheese and hams, jams and pastries and also cooked to order full breakfast and toast.
