Oban (literally 'small bay' in Gaelic) boasts the best harbour of the Highland seaboard and the town is an unrivalled centre for West Highland touring. As you sweep down the hill approaching Oban, ringed as it is by low wooded hills, the vista opens up before you and it is easy to see why Oban continues to attract visitors like a magnet.
So many tourists these days look upon Oban as simply a stopping off place en route to their next destination. Though the town itself offers the discerning visitor a wealth of things to do and see, its real advantage lies in its central position to so much of interest in Argyll and the Western Isles.

Wee bit disappointed. Stayed here before and loved it so we returned. Room this time not nearly as nice. Felt overpriced at 98 a night. Quite small, nice views. Shower was tricky, could only switch it on by getting in, which sounds daft, but then had to stand in cold water waiting for it to heat up. Water pressure in taps rubbish, dribbled to wash hands and took ages to fill the kettle.
Breakfast a bit mean too. Instant coffee a huge no-no. Not hard to use filter! Scottish breakfast consisted of 1 cheap sausage, 1 slice bacon, I dry potato scone, 1 fried egg (nicely cooked), half (yes half) a slice of black pudding and half ( yes, only half) a slice of haggis with a tiny spoon of mushrooms oh and half a tomato. No cereal, no offer of porridge. Toast was nice.
Coffee was dreadful. I know I have said that twice but the minimum you expect is a decent cup of coffee in the morning. Parking is very tight too if b&b is full. Get there early, then walk everywhere! Would we return for a 3rd visit? Doubtful which is a shame.

Check in was nice and Colin was friendly. However, on check in and breakfast no one mentioned check out. Colin then knocked on the door and 10.45 and said check out was at 10.30 and we had 2 mins to get out. Great! My pregnant wife who had her first holiday since the pandemic (NHS Dr) had to run out the shower terrified. Thanks for making our stay truly memorable for all the wrong reasons.

We spent 2 nights in room 5 this week and the room was stunning. Perfect quiet sea front location within a short walk from the town centre. Frances and Colin were very welcoming and the staff made our stay an absolute pleasure. On leaving today, we have booked another visit for later in the year to this special place

Really lovely b&b with excellent, warm, and helpful hosts. The views from room 5 were spectacular, and we could have sat and gazed at the bay all day long. Breakfast was delicious and a variety of options were available. The location was perfect, a short walk from town and very close to the ferry terminal. Very clean, the bed was super comfortable, and the blackout curtains kept the room very dark.
