The Lancaster Hotel

Its dated. Its cheap. Its in a perfect location. The staff are lovely. If you manage your expectations - you get what you pay for. Its clean, it's comfy, but it needs a facelift

Had a fantastic 2 week stay, staff were great went out of there way to help, rooms were clean and cosy, food was great too. Would definitely go back for a third time

Lovely staff, food basic but good, breakfast nice. But when it came to comfort beds need renewing, springs hard on one's back. The shower was small, but drain was blocked so gave up showering as it would have flooded the room. See pictures of shower plughole.

The hotel is situated in an amazing spot right on the water front, great views watching the boats go by, rooms clean & tidy the staff are amazing canny do enough for you, food lovely also, the b&b like time forgot but very quaint & historical serves its purpose very well would highly recommend & if we return will be going back. Thank you all at Lancaster.

AVOID if possible. absolutely terrible place, everything is in bad condition. Toilets are badly dirty, rooms are in fatal condition, beds are ripped and dirty, toilets in room are like bad joke. they are in size of small wardrobe, no water temperature control. you have to take "hot shower". Electric cables are unsecured, bad smell everywhere, this place should be closed ASAP.

Terrible place. Dirty, dated and plain terrible. The only nice thing was the lady at the reception with purple hair. She was lovely.

As 2* it's an ok hotel, lovely attentive staff, decor 'unique' but if you like your showers hmmm didn't impress, breakfast basic

Lovely friendly staff, though a bit dated and in need of an uplift it's full of character.an oldy worldy type. Beds were comfortable. Gave 4* because of the shower which heated were it touched (eventually after spending a long time trying to adjust the temp) just not at all good. 1 of us had a 'shower' on arrival as was cold but it just was not worth it.

We didn't have one in the morning! Wifi good. Lovely views over the sound from our room. Breakfast was fine. Sorry but due to the shower more than anything we won't be back and wouldn't recommend.

Very nice staff but this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I would not recommend it. We stayed in this hotel because it accepts dogs and the website looked appealing. When we arrived the outside appeared charming, but the charm quickly wore off once inside. The interior is outdated, which is forgivable, but most importantly, it is dirty and smells.

Once checked in (having to pay up front which we thought was odd) you pass through a series of fire doors and after each door the carpet became shabbier and a smell started to permeate through the air. We were the last room at the end of the hall and gagged when we opened the door. We attempted to change rooms but the other available room was just as bad.

Not able to find another room in town we decided to stay. This is when we noticed how filthy everything was. There were even clothes from the previous guest left in the room so who knows if it had been cleaned before arriving! To top it all off there was no hot water and the shower was just a small dribble of water. The next morning we demanded our money back and were given it without question - making us wonder if that happens often. Trust me, even though our stay turned out to be free it was not worth it.
