Lovely clean ground floor and spacious family room with modern bathroom and nice toiletries. Easy check in and out with friendly helpful staff. Good buffet breakfast.though glad went early as queue was long later and some people in our group waited far too long. But overall would recommend the hotel, especially if like us, were attending a wedding at Bordesley Park which is minutes away in the car.

A few issues with a room service breakfast delay and my bill on checkout was incorrect which took a few minutes to resolve and delayed me further. I also noted that there were still children in the pool after 6pm when it was supposed to be adult only time so I didn't bother to swim. I've stayed before. Will probably stay again. Hopefully with a better all round experience.

I feel reviews of this ilk should be caveated at the moment with 'the exceptional circumstances of Covid may have contributed to the service and standard of facilities and service': I stayed at the Abbey as a delegate for a conference. On arrival, the coffee supplied in the canteens was so terrible, I ordered one at the bar. No sugar arrived with it.
I requested sugar. That arrived, no spoon. I requested a spoon. That was indicative of the service level received through the stay. Everyone was lovely just not very on the ball when it came to service or attention to detail. There are very limited places to work if you're attending a conference. I set up in an area which was quiet to begin with but soon had the what sounded like the Top Gun soundtrack blaring.
Very odd choice of music and volume given the setting (not at all opposed to some 80s soft rock but a time and a place and all that!). I felt really sorry for the bride and her mum having a meeting about a bridal shower sitting under one of the speakers, having to raise their voices to be heard. My room had a broken, dirty skylight. The blinds didn't work so I was glad it was winter and the mornings are still dark.
The iron didn't work. I let reception know about this. The wall lamp was water stained and broken. Cooking at scale is always hard but the main and dessert were very poor for the evening meal. No one seemed to be keeping the breakfast buffet topped up so choices were limited at breakfast. I appreciate its winter and therefore inevitably there will be mud on and around a golf course but at a facility pitching itself as 4 star, you really would expect them to either contain it or clean the car park. I didn't expect to getting muddy shoes walking across the car park to the hotel. I personally wouldn't choose to use this establishment again.

This hotel has one thing that you cannot fault, it's staff. Every member of staff we came across was amazing and friendly and honestly it's sad the hotel let them down! Our room was meant to be a an Executive double, a touch of luxury. It is not. It's like being in a time warp. I wouldn't mind if it was clean but it wasn't. Again, I don't want to fault the staff, we were listened to and cared for by the operations manager who rectified the price to reflect our stay.
Advice to owners- Invest in your hotel. Strip out the old furniture and make it a modern luxury get away. Another huge positive is the breakfast. It's really delicious with lots of options. Hash browns are 10/10 lol. Would I come back? Yes. If they gave everything a good scrub I would definitely come back. I've never met friendly hotel staff.

Stayed in the hotel for 2 nights, had breakfast and used the pool and spa. We had a premier room, and it was spacious but is rather outdated. The decor looks very old, and the TV is very small and not a smart TV. The room was clean but it is not what I expected for a luxury hotel. Breakfast was nice and food was hot. It could be improved by some veggie options.
The spa is nice but using it Saturday morning - just filled with tonnes of children. It's not really what you expect when staying in a spa hotel, felt more like a community swimming pool. It could be a great hotel with some updates and tweaks but it falls a little short how it is. Staff are all very lovely and helpful though.

Solid location filled with good honest working class staff and clientele. Massage rooms will be cold due to heaters not working. Afternoon tea will be microwaved scones bought from the supermarket. Sandwiches are made the day before and will have a dry and tough bread crust because of it. People and staff aren't wearing masks. Good place with good people - just not for me.

Our team came for a Christmas party on 3/12/21 and the whole experience was excellent from the staff to the food to the music. We were so happy with the service. One area for improvement would be the price of the drinks which were extortionate - 11 for a glass of wine is a bit much even for a hotel. Thank you for a great night - Creena Bullock

Unfortunately it's a poor place to be. Our car Club had its Christmas Lunch there. My beef from the carvery was as tough as old boots, the vegetables were ok but only lukewarm and to top it all it was served on cold plates. It has no atmosphere, no Christmas spirit. Unfortunately not a good experience and spoilt our festivities. Not a patch on what it used to be five or so years ago.

Thank you! I had fantastic stay at The Abbey this week when I attended a conference. The team were all super helpful. The quality and presentation dishes (lunch and dinner) were excellent, and notably I had one of the best room service breakfasts (hot, fresh, accurate order and on time). Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to use the leisure facilities as this was a business trip, which gives me a good excuse to come for a weekend break soon.

Pleasant relaxing stay whilst on a 3 day course locally for work. Everything except bar paid for by work. My room was nice and quiet so got 3 great nights sleep. Budget room OK, clean and everything you need but would have been a bit expensive if you had to pay out of your own pocket.no better than a premier Inn or travel lodge for half the price.
Good food at dinner but hot buffet breakfast went cold quickly whilst left out. Great to use the amenities for free, Swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. I didn't bother with the golf or gym, not my scene. Overall a pleasant relaxing stay, but I get the feeling it survives on corporate events using it with the tab picked up by their companies.

Lovely clean room but the menu options for non meat eaters were poor. pasta, pasta or more pasta, my dinner was a dish of ravioli with no salad or veg, and hot lunch was a pasta option both days. Cold buffet had no veggie options except rice pasta bread and soup. I need a little protein! Shower ram very cool but apart from that good

Lovely holiday here so far. When we arrived we were not so very happy with our room or the view from it. After visiting reception I was shown several different rooms for our week stay. The one I wanted was unfortunately not available for the week but we settled for room 10 which is very large and on the ground floor looking out towards the golf course.
The bathroom is fitted with bath and shower above sinc and toilet. The room was cleaned regularly which made us happy. We can honestly say that the food is exceptional here. We had evening room service daily and breakfast is lovely. Emily, Laura and others are fabulous making this hotel one we will certainly return to again.

We visited on father's day (20/6/2021). It was a treat from my daughter, son and wife. I made two mistakes: 1. Not asking for the wine list, however later another table of four got one as soon as they sat down. I ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio, which went on the bill at 30. 2. I cannot eat melted cheese, and I forgot ask if this was included with the vegetables.
The plate came out with cauliflower cheese. I explained, and they quickly returned with my main. My son had the soup of the day which he said was good. My wife and daughter had the pate, with a meagre portin of toast. I had the ham hock terrine, it was fine but too small amount of ciabata bread. 2 x Chicken 2 x beef (My wife asked for some horseradish sauce.
The waitress repeated it as though she had never heard of it before. She went to ask the chef, and returned with small bowl of horseradish sauce.) The beef had a hard grissle along the edge. My wife asked to swap with my chicken, well, what was left. I then tried to cut the beef and needed to ask for a steak knife. The total bill was 101. Overall, everyone was disappointed with the meal.
We shan't be booking another meal there again. More so, I felt sorry for my family, who took me out for a treat. I have to say I didn't raise any of the issues, as I was really the guest of my family and didn't really want to embarrass them. NOTE: They have had a refurb, but I don't know if that was during the lockdown.

Markets itself as higher-end, but its pretty average. The restaurant has all sorts of lotions'n potions included in the courses - I'm trying to think of a mild version of 'you can't polish a turd', which would be far too harsh. The superfast wifi is more akin to dial-up, maybe its a retro twist they're aiming for. Shocking price for what you get.
