Recently got married at Hogarths and had a mixed experience. The venue and food were excellent and the highlights. However, the staff were very taxing to work with. During the planning they were very slow to respond to emails and as different people picked up the thread there was often miscommunication. If you tried to phone people were often unaware of queries or how to signpost. Also, when we asked multiple questions we were often told the answer eventually but the first response was usually we can sort this at the final appointment. Having had the final appointment we were acutely aware if we hadn't chased these queries then we would have been there for hours trying to sort things.
We had guests staying outside of the hotel who wanted to join for the morning after breakfast we had arranged and were told Hogarths would phone them back to take payment. Nobody did despite my friends trying multiple times to ring again but due to working night shifts understandably had to cease. This is quite disappointing as is something very simple to sort.
On the day staff tried to be helpful but majority were not bothered at all. After the ceremony my sisters went to get my shoes from the room we had been getting ready in. Hogarths advised they would move our luggage to our overnight rooms (which we'd labelled as requested). Reception said to check the new rooms and no luggage was there so understandably my sisters asked to see the room we had just left as they likely hadn't been moved.
They had to argue for at least 10 minutes just to gain access to the room again due to being told the luggage would not be there and they were wrong - which of course once opened revealed all our bags still where we left them. The whole process took half an hour due to these barriers and was a shame for my sisters to have to miss out on time with our guests.
They returned understandably so frustrated and actually asked how we'd manage to plan a wedding with this team. During the reception we found staff weren't very experienced with using their own aux system and managed to have music playing in an entirely separate room we weren't in. In the end my husband had to go and sort this himself. The food was excellent but it seems dietary requirements were not seen as important or prioritised.
Despite being assured multiple times one of my guests with a nut allergy could have a dessert without the nut garnish (and this was down on multiple forms we'd handed in as well as checking that morning), I was told after staff were not aware and would not accommodate this. In addition, we had a large amount of vegetarian guests but staff were freely mixing meat and vegetarian options during the evening buffet until my mother had to quickly intervene and start serving the food herself.
This is very disheartening and should be quite simple. Staff did eventually get things in order once they realised our family was going to serve if they were incompetent in doing so. Lastly, I think the biggest disappointment was the general poor attitude from staff assisting with wedding reception on the day. The bar staff broke at least 3 glasses from the 10 minutes me and my husband were mingling with guests at one point in the evening.
But most of all, one member of staff asked my mother to go and slice up some wedding cake and take it to my room. This is not her job?! And the staff member seemed exasperated that oddly my mother said no?! Overall the venue and food were brilliant along with our suppliers. However, I'd recommend to future couples to be wary that despite the cost the customer service can be appalling and you need to make sure you stay on top of everything yourself.

The room was very good, though originally we were given a room that was not ready, unmade bed, dirty cups, surfaces and towels. This was quickly and apologetically resolved. We had some food in the evening, the food was ok, the bill came as a bit of a shock. The main was very good, the cheese board was disappointing. Not great value for the food unfortunately (140, 3 course meal with wine and port), I have paid a lot less for far better meals.
Service left a bit to be desired, but the staff were quite young and possibly somewhat inexperienced. The breakfast we had was much better (included) and the staff on at this time clearly had more experience with people and service overall, this made up for the somewhat disappointing previous meal. Overall, the bed was comfortable and it was a nice place to stay. The value overall could be better. If you pay a lot more, you expect it to be a lot better, when it is not, it is inevitably disappointing.

We had afternoon tea for 3 people 81. None of us like fish so we asked for cheese. The guy running the whole afternoon experience was faultless, but he said he didn't know if the kitchen had cheese! As it turned out the kitchen didn't have cheese, totally unbelievable, we were given egg, which one of us couldn't eat and a half bagel which contained a couple of pieces of beetroot & gherkin. Cakes were nice and cups of tea were flowing, but I found the sandwiches unacceptable for 27 per person. They need to up their game.

We booked this venue for our wedding, and cannot recommend Hogarth's Highly enough. In spite of the wedding being postponed twice, the staff were incredibly helpful in making sure our special day went as perfectly as possible. The staff at the venue on the day made us feel at ease by being super well organised and running the day seamlessly behind the scenes.
Everyone we dealt with both in the run up to and on the day itself were incredibly kind and helpful. All of our guests noted what a beautiful venue we had chosen and how great the food and amenities were. Thank you so much to everyone involved in making our wedding an absolutely incredible and unforgettable experience.

I went to Hogarths last night to go to a charity ball for Signpost Inclusion. I just want to say that the staff working behind the bar were lovely! In particular I would like to mention Bobby and Ben, they were both fantastic and are great at their job. They were so polite and had great customer care. They were both great at remembering my order which made ordering at the bar so much easier, especially when you are buying a lot of drinks for different people. They are an asset to your team! I would really appreciate it if you could let them know how fantastic I thought they were that would be great!

GREAT venue, spacious, contemporary, good sound system and helpful, friendly staff. My band played at a charity event this month and it was a really positive experience from our perspective. Here's us hanging in the winter room, which we were given as our green room. Lovely room, spacious, well appointed bathroom and seating area. Nice work team Hogarths

Was gifted a night's stay at this place for Me and the Mrs from family and it was amazing! Loved the french doors leading to our own little patio area in the bedroom overlooking the beautiful gardens. Impressive fixtures in the room itself with the bathroom finished in Quartz. Breakfast menu was limited at the time due to what I can recall as covid related but was still served by a member of staff and enjoyed what was available. Very peaceful in picturesque settings what more can you ask for. Will be visiting again!

One of the rooms had an awful smell. The staff tried their best to solve the problem but not a good thing when you're celebrating a birthday party. The venue itself is lovely but this incident made me put off by the place. What's worth the management knew there was a problem but didn't do enough to solve the problem until the guests turned up and complained about the awful stench.

Hogarth's hotel has one of the best restaurants in the West Midlands in my opinion. Having been several times normally for special occasions or treats I attended with my family for an anniversary dinner and was once again blown away by the quality of the food and service. 8 of us attended the meal which did require booking ad they do get busy however once we arrived we were seated and had given drinks orders withing 15 minutes.
Food served is traditional high quality English food with a few modern twists. Starters came out after less than 15 minutes and are quite large with some people in our group commenting that they could have been small mains. Mains quickly followed starters and my fillet steak (cooked blue) was done to perfection and the peppercorn sauce was something special made with a turnip Base it tasted earthy and fresh.
I didn't go for desert however the selection is vast and the final course of coffee was served professionally from an incredibly friendly and polite waiter. It isn't the cheapest of restaurants but service and quality of food easily make the price justifiable. I would say for a table of 2 including wine you could do 3 courses each for under 150 as a total.

An overated, over priced, noisey hotel. I recently attended a friends wedding, the service and attention to detail was poor. Throughout the wedding service you couldn't hear any of the service as the PA systems wasn't working and all you could hear in the background was the M42. The hotel rooms are very small and over priced and the breakfast like something you would receive on a motorway cafe.
As for the service, we had to ask for tea and coffee and for someone to clear our plates. The meal at the wedding was very average and couldn't beleive it cost 79 per head.

High quality food at very high prices. If you can afford to eat here regularly then you are a richer man then I. The food is outstanding, if a little pretentious, but you certainly feel the hit in your wallet. Good food comes at a price but if you come here for a special occasion you will not leave disappointed.
