The reception room looks a bit cold, unwelcoming, the room itself wasn't too bad, but needs to be renovated, on 1st day we found 1 of the towels damp. The breakfast was a good, staff was very friendly except on our last day, a girl waiter who had a bad attitude and was making faces messed up our morning a bit, but we got over it. Location is good, close range to shops, beach and attractions.

Room okay but looking tired and old-fashioned. Fan in bathroom not working, curtains wouldn't close. Breakfast a bit mean and cooked food was average. Limited choice, no fresh pastries. The worst thing about the hotel is how noisy the rooms are at night. The hotel has its own nightclub which fills the whole building with loud music. Until 4am! Reception admits the rooms are noisy and offers earplugs! This is unacceptable for a hotel.

Booked here for easy access to the BIC as it's just a stone's throw, literally, across the road. Wasn't expecting much but wow! Staff are brilliant - pleasant and attentive, everywhere is spotless. Due to the age and nature of the building virtually every floorboard creaks so you silently apologise whenever you walk anywhere but it is only to be expected given the character of the place.

Beautiful cocktails in the 1812 bar and you MUST have the Asian tapas - absolutely incredible Being a lady of a certain age I had to ring down to reception to request a fan as there is no aircon and the room (to me) was pretty hot - it's at the door in less than five minutes Unfortunately the gig I had originally planned to see while here was postponed but I came anyway and I'm so glad I did - I've had a very pleasant and relaxing time away from home. Prices very reasonable and I'm looking forward to booking here again when the gig is rescheduled. Thank you The Royal Exeter

First time I stayed here wasn't disappointed brilliant. Town was few minutes walking and I was seeing a show at the bic just 2 mins away. All the staff was fantastic so friendly and helpful the bars are great parking on site 8 pound a day really cheap. Nearly forgot the breakfast was amazing thank you.

Ridiculously loud nightclub underneath the hotel which plays music until 4am on Sunday morning. Our room on the second floor facing towards the sea (so not directly above the club) was vibrating with the bass for goodness sake. You are told on check in loosely "you might hear some noise" - absolute understatement of the century and where else were we supposed to stay when you realise how bad it is? Understandable that the bar played live music until 1am which was accepted but the night club was just ridiculous. Also charging 8 for parking on top of the room cost was pretty cheeky! Lack of sleep completely spoilt the next day - avoid at all costs!

Room was really clean and spacious. When booking in saud we would decide on breakfast in the morning, went to breakfast wS told we couldn't have breakfast as did not book in advance don't think that is good caster service. We into 1812 for drinks and was to we had to leave as was wearing hen party sash we were all dressed respectively, when asked why the other hen party was not asked to leave said nothing. Will not be staying there again

Lovely clean hotel. Bar was nice and a good atmosphere. The main problem is staying on a Saturday night when the hotel club bangs out music until 4am meaning no one can sleep. Due to this reason I would not return. I'm shattered today! :

Nice hotel just a stones throw from Bournemouth pier. Close to beach and town. Has popular bars such as the 1812. Can be noisy Friday and Saturday as live music till the early hours. Drinks and food seem high price but nice. Car park is extra 8 a day even when staying at hotel. Staff are friendly and hotel and bars nice. Can be busy around the hotel as a popular area to visit. Stayed in room 207 can just about see sea and pier. Some dodgy electrics.

The hotel is very central. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The rooms are spacious and clean. The beds are really comfortable and a good height. BUT. What was not mentioned on the website, or at check-in, is the fact that there is a nightclub in the hotel, which plays very loud music until 4am. Annoyingly, the TV signal isn't strong enough to watch it properly and this was the only alternative to listening to the bass all night. I don't know if this is only on Saturday nights, but it's something to ask before booking.

Plenty of free onsite parking and a warm welcome from the reception staff. The room was small but comfortable and sufficient for my needs. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean. There is a wonderful Italian restaurant on site and a live music venue and nightclub on site. I had a brilliant time and highly recommend it to anyone travelling solo (like me) or otherwise. Very close to the beach and the town centre.

We were directly above the very late night bar. You are only advised of this bar after you have booked. A bit cheeky. Staff did tell you about it when booking in, you would only.know it would possibly disturb you when you got yo your room. Not sure what could be done as full up, we had a very disturbed sleep.

All in all disappointing. 180 for the night, pretty pricey compared to other hotels nearby, though the pictures online, the reviews and the proximity to the beach and the BIC were enough to tempt me to book. The downsides. Room is dated. Clean but fairly bland and with an awful view over a flat roof. Hotel wi-fi, as good as useless and no hotel parking. Tried the room service and was told I probably wouldn't get anything as the restaurant is "separate to the hotel".

In the end, I wandered down to the restaurant, only to be told they were to busy to provide me with food or drink. I asked if I could just take a couple of drinks to my room and was told "No". The worst part of the stay was the live music that was hideously loud. Of course, I was only made aware of the music that would be playing till the early hours, when I checked in, not when I booked. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back. Very expensive and overall very disappointing

From checking in to checkout the service from all staff was exceptional especially Sarah on reception. The rooms we had were great. Location is good. Breakfast staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Enjoyed our stay.

Comfortable classically decorated hotel. Rooms are nice and bed comfortable. Best thing is location, just 2 minutes away from the Pier and coastline and less than 5 from the Garden, a food court and main shopping streets. 3 different bar ambiences and outdoor areas: classic indoor bar with terrace, modern more 'clubby' bar with current tunes and outdoor 'edgy' wooden booths. Outside building oesn't match the inside standards as much. Only cons would be the plastic bathroom floor and a bit used bathtub.

On the weekends the noise from the bars below is unbearable. The staff are nice and warned they had a band but it was like I was in the bar itself and the noise went on till late with people walking up and down the halls. Other than that, it was clean and comfortable and a good location.

Room is nice, staff is nice, 1812 bar is nice with live music. Super noisy, bar with beer garden and DJ music until 11pm. If you're looking for somewhere quiet for a relaxing break, don't go to this hotel. If you're young and looking for night life then yes it is a good place. Quite pricey.
