Wonderful hotel right in the middle of Grasmere village with some of the most beautiful views, walks and shops around it. The room was very nice with a great view of the hills across not too far away, but unfortunately the walls are very thin and the floorboards are very creaky. The staff were very welcoming, the breakfast was wonderful and housekeeping were friendly. The spa area is very good with a swimming pool, spa and jacuzzi.

I love this hotel. Nestled in the valley at Grasmere it is I the ideal location to walk some of the most beautiful walks. The hotel is lovely the rooms we had was upgraded for us. After our long walks it was a welcome lounge in the pool and relax in the sauna before dinner. Dinner & breakfast must be booked well in advance - before you arrive at the hotel.

The food was a delight and on the day we climbed Striding Edge from Glenridding we were going to arrive at 9.15 After the kitchen closed so they suggested ordering room service at 9. it was cooked fresh and it all arrived nicely presented fit for a king. The day after we had a level walk around the lake unwinding

We have just come home from a wonderful stay at the Wordsworth. The room was beautiful. The staff were so attentative and friendly. We ate in the restaurant for breakfast and evening meal. The food was perfect. Grasmere is such a beautiful place to stay. The Wordsworth made it extra special for us.

Well established, traditional hotel situated in the middle of the village. Outstanding food and service both at breakfast and dinner. Some of the furniture in the rooms is showing its age, but is still cleaned to a very high standard. Very friendly, helpful staff.

First holiday in 2 years and it was fantastic! Every single staff member I interacted with where brilliant. Room was lovely and food was fantastic. Bar and restaurant staff quickly knew my favourite food and drink and this just added to a fantastic experience. I didn't want to leave!

When you pull up into a Hotel and there is wild garlic growing at the front of the building and around the car park loved my stay here. Friendly staff, excellent food, great places to lounge with your friends, bird feeder in the garden that you can sit and watch out of the window. Lovely swimming pool and jacuzzi. Rooms a good size, spacious, en suite good size too. Lots to see and do in nearby areas including two lakes within walking distance and Rydal Cave.

Booked a night for my wife's 50th, but due to covid restrictions was unable to go. Hotel was excellent in sorting out new dates. When we arrived we had received a complimentary upgrade to a suite, with gingerbread and proseco provided The room was amazing with a massive bed and jacuzzi bath and outside balcony. Really didn't want to leave the room.

We had drinks in the bar later, which had an excellent choice of local beers and a very good spirits selection. Breakfast the next morning was delicious and we both had the Cumbrian breakfast which was freshly cooked and delicious The staff could not have been any more helpful and extremely efficient and professional Overall an absolutely brilliant night and would highly recommend

I attended a birthday celebration dinner on sat 19th Feb. Possibly the worst meal I've ever had A HUGE lump of pate with four little crisps Taste was fine for a shop purchase but there was so much waste from all of us. It was as if they knew the worst was to come and so to fill us up on bread and pate. The seabass more like a shrivelled goldfish that was so dry on a bed of half cooked fennel and one small croquette potato.

After one small piece I left every on my plate. The waiters never said a word! DRY. Sticky toffee pudding. With what I can best describe as the smallest scoop of ice cream. The caramel sauce was nice but it just tasted as if it was over cooked in the microwave. Others had chicken. Or should I say Pigeon wing. It looked awful and a plate full of grey!

Apparently it didn't taste much better either! The waiters in the bar just didn't want to be there. Never a smile and when wanting to order. every time we had to go looking for them! They just didn't want to be there! The reception staff. Probably the worst front of house people you could meet. Mardi is and understatement. Probably the worst four star hotel I've ever experienced

A beautiful hotel, right in the centre of the village. We had a free upgrade to a suite which was a lovely surprise! The staff are very friendly and the service at dinner was excellent. There is a large swimming pool and a jacuzzi but the sauna is currently closed due to Covid restrictions. An excellent stay at a very reasonable price.

I stayed here with my husband for a weekend in January 2022. We had dinner in the restaurant one evening, breakfast both mornings and stayed for 2 nights in the De Quincey suite. The room was absolutely stunning, though one morning noise from the room next door really was very noticeable. Not that you can necessarily expect buildings like that to be soundproof! That said, the stay was a really pleasant one, the staff were lovely and helpful and the food was excellent. It's so well located too.

How this hotel has positive reviews i honestly don't understand. Either people stay in very poor conditions at home or the two rooms we were given were the worst coincidently?! I don't want to comment much but. We hated our rooms somehow no oxygen! I wont even complain about the views! Will we stay again? OH NO!

December visit, beautiful decorations, roaring fire. Lovely staff, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Good with young children, activity sheet menu and crayons, staff were relaxed and communicated well with the children too. Peaceful setting with very good food. Great for a late lunch on a winters afternoon.

I would like to thank the staff at this hotel for being absolutely wonderful last night. My family were driving back to our accommodation, in the dark, but were still about an hour away in torrential rain. Having already basically driven through a waterfall cascading onto the road just past Keswick, between Grasmere and Ambleside we found that the roads were completely blocked by flooding.

Finding ourselves stranded, and with our young children becoming increasingly upset and frightened, we tried to find a hotel for the night in Grasmere. After drawing blanks elsewhere, we ended up at the Wordsworth. Despite being technically full-up, the staff were sympathetic to our situation and at 9:30pm managed to find us somewhere to stay for the night.

They were incredibly friendly and helpful, and even charged us the cheapest rate they possibly could. This morning we woke up, dry, safe and considerably happier. The staff were incredibly courteous and kind at breakfast time; my daughter's hot chocolate was delivered with a smiley face sprinkled into the foam, and my son proclaimed it to be the nicest breakfast he's ever had. A big thank you to everybody at the Wordsworth.

Had our wedding here and stayed 3 nights here. Catalin, the manager, and all his staff could not have been more helpful and supportive. We had the best day with amazing afternoon tea reception. The weather, fortunately, was gorgeous, so the grounds here are a stunning backdrop for the pictures. The room was exceptional and breakfast choice really good. Overall, 5 stars from us and highly recommended.

Loved this hotel, the stay, the staff, service, everything was great! Food was lovely and the staff were friendly and helpful. My only reservation was that when my husband and I came back from dinner, we didn't realise the hotel was shut and locked at 10.30pm. We had to ring the doorbell and waited for the night porter to open the door for us and let us in. Apart from that, a great stay.

I booked 5 for afternoon tea at the Wordsworth. It was really excellent. At 15 a head it's an experience I would recommend to all. Lovely sandwiches and the most beautiful cakes and scones. Excellent service and lots of space between other parties. I will go again.

Great hotel located right in the heart of Grasmere. Lovely gardens, pool and spa facilities make it a great place to unwind after long days out enjoying The Lakes. Dinner/breakfasts very good with plenty of choice. Only downside for me was limited ventilation in the rooms, so didn't sleep so well.
