Mark and Sharyn would like to welcome you to our beautiful Victorian guesthouse The Gables set in the very heart of Ambleside where we have lived since 2006 with our family. The house occupies a prominent site in Ambleside, on the edge of the central area with fine open views across parkland to the fells beyond. Together with our wonderful team we are more than happy to help in any way to make your stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible in our comfortable bed and breakfast.
The house is stylishly furnished and decorated with all the usual amenities you would expect of a modern B&B with the added bonus of some private parking and don't worry if our parking is full - we will always direct you to alternative free options.

Delightful guesthouse, conveniently located for the numerous shops, places to eat and easy access to all the local attractions. The room was spotless, comfortable and welcoming. The beds were very comfortable, just wish we had more than one night. The breakfast was well cooked and plenty of choice. Good that there was vegan sausage, maybe a venture into vegan bacon (This isn't Bacon is lovely, freezable & quick) would add just a bit more. Really friendly hosts. Would recommend.

We had an amazing experience at the lovely Gables Guesthouse located right in the heart of beautiful Ambelside. Our room was immaculately kept; spotless, in fact. Our super king-sized bed was true to its name and comfortable. And the breakfasts- wow. Great food and served tastefully with a smile each day. We loved the Gables and highly recommend it for your Lake District holiday.

This was the first time we stayed at the Gables and definitely not the last. The owner is super friendly along with the staff who served us at breakfast and chatted away when we came and went from the guesthouse. The Location is a perfect 2 minute walk into Ambleside. We had a super king sized bed, that was really comfortable, the room had everything we could need and was very clean and tidy.
Breakfast is excellent with loads of choice and little extra's like yoghurt/prunes/grapefruit. We had the fry up most mornings to set us up for a full days walking. And sidney the dog was another bonus to welcome you back after a days walk. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Gables. Thanks to Sharyn and her staff

We recently stayed at The Gables and absolutely loved it. The room was big and comfortable. Ideally placed in easy walking distance to all shops, restaurants, pubs etc. The breakfast was lovely and the whole place was spotlessly clean. Great hosts. Having visited Ambleside for over 25 years this is our favourite guest house. Thank you Gables

We stayed for two nights at the beginning of October 2021 - very friendly welcome and nice and warm inside (it chucked it down with rain pretty much all of our stay). Drying room was a god send! Good sized bedroom with plenty of storage and drawers. Lovely clean bathroom with large powerful shower - just what was need after spending hours in the rain enjoying the countryside.
All the staff were very welcoming, the breakfast was fab - they even sorted for us to sit in the conservatory so we could keep our two dogs with us at breakfast time. In short, lovely building in the centre of Ambleside, great sized rooms, plenty of amenities and fantastic staff! We have already booked to go back again at New Year!
