Outstanding hotel in perfect location with beautiful rooms. Rooms: The rooms are spacious and beautiful. Comfortable and well equipped. It is a dog friendly hotel and there were a lot of dogs when we visited I was so surprised when in the room we could only hear the very occasional dog. I love dogs so that was a plus anyway. The common room is Comfortable and lush. Service: Staff are very friendly.

There was only one poor woman running breakfast service and I think she completed a marathon up and down and around everyone. She did an amazing job and service was great and she was so happy, please get that poor woman some help. In the attached bar it is super busy and not much space inside but outside is wonderful so happy to sit outside. Service is quick at the bar and well stocked. Location: Right in the middle of the small village close to all shops and some spectacular walks. Close to everything and could spend days rambling around that area.

We stayed there for 2 nights. The room was really lovely, with Character too. We had a dog with us so the only evening meal option is too be part of the, 1st come 1st served, routine within the bar area. This is very busy at 18:00 hrs but we did manage to get food, when we wanted, on both nights. We would stay there again!

Small but comfortable bedrooms although sink in our room very slow to drain. Also faulty door lock necessitated staff member kindly accessing room by climbing through the window from outside.seemingly all too easy! Breakfast room very dark and gloomy but overlooks lovely grounds. Good selection at breakfast of cereals, fresh fruit and cooked menu.

Evening meal options extremely limited and expensive. The sea bass fillet was one single fillet on a very small amount of crushed potato for 18! Burger with fries was passable but chicken salad was weird. Staff in the bar and dining area give a good impression of being there under sufferance and have way too much attitude. Good selection of real ales but only one expensive lager on tap. Very busy and relying too much on its own misplaced air of superiority. Disappointed.

I only ate here, the food was good, the service was reasonable, no complaints there. One thing that isn't specific to Tweedies but does apply, there is nowhere in the UK that takes advantage of a tourist like the lake district! 19+ for a cheeseburger is unbelievable! Doesn't matter how good a burger it is, 19 is never right.

Great atmosphere, busy but staff helpful and friendly in the bar. Also visited the hotel restaurant and the decor, ambience and food were great. The female waitress was absolutely superb, welcoming, attentive, friendly, hardworking, knowledgeable about the menu and I think that she is a great asset to the team. She exuded warmth and it was refreshing to experience this and thank you.

Great food and drink and atmosphere. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. To access the bar from the hotel does involve walking around the outside of the hotel. Not normally a problem, but in the appalling weather we had a bit of an issue. We successfully changed our meal reservation from the bar to the hotel restaurant to overcome the challenge!

Simply brilliant. Massive beer garden, lovely homely pub with great selection of beers. Staff who are super efficient and make you question how living wage employees are so attentive and brilliant (perhaps they're share holders )

Foods excellent. Fantastic sellection of craft beer etc etc. Cherry on top. Asked for a chair with back support for my pregnant wife. Which the friendly staff got no worries but then also went and found some cushions for her without us asking. Which was just a lovely very thoughtful touch.

Just popped in for a couple of drinks so can't comment on food, but loved the atmosphere. Friendly staff, dog friendly. Just really nice buzz that can sometimes be lacking in the more traditional pubs. Would definitely go again.

Great bar. Great beer. Great staff - all super friendly. Great beer recommendations. Great wood burner, which we managed to sit next to - eventually. The sharer bottles in the fridge could end up getting interesting when I come up here with the kids (they're all in their 20s, so no worries). Highly recommended
