Hired the Hotel to celebrate 30 years in business. The venue was amazing and the fact we had the whole Hotel meant my guests could stay should they wish. Having use of the kitchen was perfect as the hot and cold buffet was made there. The owner John McTaggart was so helpful and such a lovely person. I will not hesitate in recomending this venue and would definitely book it again. First class.

Went for a gig. Friendly, cosy, comfortable. I was not dining but could see others enjoying delicious looking food. The atmosphere with fires and candles was enchanting. I would love to go back to actually stay there.

Went to a fundraiser a couple weeks ago, it was a great time. The food was really very nice although there wasn't much of it. Drinks prices were high, and this ain't the Ritz. The 2 piece entertainment act was extremely good, a girl singing and a guy on acoustic guitar. Parking is a bit of a nightmare at this place on a busy night with a function on. We had to park on a side street and walk up. It was a bitterly cold night. I would go back here again.

Very friendly and welcoming staff, great food, rooms clean and tidy. Beautiful dining room with amazing ceiling rescued from an old steamship. Evening meal and breakfast were exceptional, few minutes walk from the railway station

My son and partner had booked the hotel for his 40th on Sunday 20 October. I just wanted to say to all the staff a big thank you for what you did. You dressed the table and chairs beautifully, very friendly and welcoming to us all. Could not do enough for us. The food was excellent and you all just made the day go splendidly. Would not hesitate in recommending you to others.

Was at the hotel for a function lunch. The organisation was poor, considering we had pre ordered food. Service was slow and people were finishing their meal when others were just getting served. There was only two servers for the group approx 30 people and they did their best. On the upside the food was good and hot. Coffee was quite disgusting and suspect it had been made much earlier. Would like to try the hotel again just as a couple and hopefully it would be better.

My husband and I stayed last night as there was a Meet and Greet event on. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. We had a meal which was tasty and delivered quickly. Good quick service. There was a great atmosphere at the event. Which was very enjoyable. Our room was basic and old fashioned but it was was very clean. We will not hesitate to book again. Thank you.

Mid-range, small-town hotel. The whole place has been recently, tastefully, decorated, and is clean and comfortable. The "Clipper" dining room is simply magnificent. Even if you can't stay, if you're passing, go in and see it, and read the history of the wood paneling. I was on a voucher deal, which included dinner from a limited version of the full menu.

The full menu was very full and varied, but the limited one was perfectly adequate, and the food was good. Only complaint was the whole place was cool-ish, it being November.

The Woodside Hotel absolutely made our trip to Scotland magical. We travel very often and this was one of my favorite hotels we've ever stayed at. Family run by the incredibly kind John, Liz, and Joe, you truly feel like part of the family when you enter the premises. Our rooms were spacious, beautifully decorated and impecabbly clean. The breakfast and dinner at the hotel is AMAZING.

A great selection that was always vegetarian friendly, cooked with obviously high quality ingredients. The chef even came out to personally greet us after we extended our gratitude for such a wonderful meal to our extremely personable and attentive waiter, Kyle. This hotel is in a PERFECT location. We were able to walk to some wonderful shops and many restaurants and were even within walking distance to the water and the incredible Aberdour Castle, which only cost 6 pounds to have full-run of. WELL worth the money. We are already anxiously planning our trip back to The Woodside. This place is fantastic.

The staff was clearly aimed at making the customer happy. We were allowed to check in a few hours early so we could rest up from the trip. The couple who owns this hotel was extremely helpful in giving us tour tips and ways to get into Edinburgh by train instead of driving. Just a short walk from the train station, we walked both days to the station with a light walk back to the hotel when we returned. Located in a charming village, it was near everything and far enough away to be comfortable. Highly recommend this hotel.

Apparently under new management. We booked a table for four. Have to say. None of us was impressed. We sat outside initially but had to go right back inside to get our own menus and drinks to fetch back out. We moved inside instead - less traipsing. There were probably only four tables being served including ours yet the service was pretty slow. Main chap serving was good but clearly stretched.

The other two working with him looked like they'd rather have been somewhere else. Food was so-so. I had the fish and chips. Really small portion and more batter than fish. Didn't bother with dessert. Apparently the soup was good. Overall, average food, not great service, almost zero atmosphere. Don't see us going back somehow.
