The title says it all. We've stayed, literally, in hundreds of pubs and hotels over the years, both in this country and Europe and I can honestly say that we've seldom, if ever, enjoyed a place more. It's spotlessly clean, supremely comfortable and well appointed. The restaurant offers a excellent selection of beautifully cooked and presented dishes and the beer is of the same quality.

Just arrived in wales for a weeks holiday and the ty gwyn had lobster on the menu last week so we booked ahead of time. Rang last night to confirm booking and all good so far. However thats where the good stuff ends unfortunately! We arrived on time and was immediately seated by a nice young lady. We both ordered the moules marinare which unfortunately when came were not hot.and i had 2 mussels which hadn't opened.

A young man came and asked us if everything was ok and i told him that the dish wassnt hot enough and 2 mussels didn't open. " why didn't you say something, ?" He asked. Well the mussels that didn't open were at the bottom of my dish so i didn't see them until id nearly finished! I didn't want to mention they weren't very hot as my partner seemed to be enjoying his!

Then came the main.i ordered the trout which was lovely and tender and was a big portion too. ( unfortunately the lobster wasn't on the menu) The waitress came and asked if all was ok.which as we had only just started to eat seemed to be ok. Unfortunately as i progressed with my meal the sauce was very greasy and the carrots were dirty and not scraped and the beans hadnt been topped and tailed!

The young male waiter came and asked if everything was ok.and when we proceeded to tell him our concerns he threw the bill on the table and left! Not asking if we wanted dessert or drinks etc. We went to pay.and was confronted by an obviously angry scruffy young waiter who called us " obnoxious " and when i asked him to calm down he said we were on camera and that we weren't to come back.blah blah blah. Well.not before i had told him it was our first and last visit to this establishment.

Why ask if everything is ok if you're not prepared to listen to constructive criticism? What an absolutely beautiful building but unfortunately with arrogant trainer wearing creased tee shirt boy trying to show his authority. On this occasion young man you have lost this business our custom for the next seven days because of your argumentative immature behaviour.

Have you ever heard of " the customer is always right"? We left a 2 tip.please put this towards a pair of shoes and a crisp shirt. Thankyou to the young waitress who seated us and took our order initially.

Lovely characterful inn with beautiful food. We hoped for a pleasant pub meal after a busy day exploring Wales. The food turned out to be stunning. Everything we ate was beautiful. I'm very thankful they called us during the day to ensure we could make a reservation, as they were beginning to get full for the evening. Our room (the apartment no.14) was amazing, beautifully furnished with everything you could need. We're really looking forward to going back in the future.

Very enjoyable stay. Staff very friendly. Food top class and great menu. Lovely atmosphere apart from the bumps on my head from the low doorways but it is a very old hotel so my fault for not ducking. Would definitely go back!

We didn't stay at the hotel but had amazing food in the Inn, delicious, fresh and the price is affordable. We were amazed to find out the Inn dates to 1600's and all the furnishing and decor dates back to the same period. The people there were lovely, the waiters attentive and overall we had an amazing experience. We'd definitely come back to eat there when we're back to the area!

Enjoyed our stay in this historic hotel. The rooms are modern, clean, and Martin and his team are very welcoming. The food is excellent, book a table for evening meals as you wont find any better in the town. would highly recommend.
