This is a great Hotel to stay in Peebles, staff are great friendly, chatty helpful made our stay that more enjoyable and fun. Room was spotless, beds had lovely sheets very soft pillows the bathroom was spotless and instant hot water at any time (better than a lot of hotels at twice the price) Breakfast could not fault eggs were so tasty as was the bacon and tomatoes.
On our last night had Dinner this was excellent nice portion and presented well and packed with flavour. Their lounge is always busy with afternoon teas and looked great, did not have time to try but we will be back. Highly recommend this Hotel. Nice to see dogs are very welcome and looked after here.

All of the hotel staff that we met were very friendly and efficient - a real credit to the hotel. The meal that we had in the Bistro was excellent and breakfast was good too. Our group had 2 rooms. One had been refurbished with a very nice new bathroom. The other room had not yet been refurbished and was a bit jaded.

The Tontine Hotel is one of the loveliest accommodations we have stayed at. We have had the privilege to stay here twice with the Tontine team and would do so again and again when visiting Peebles. We booked rooms for roughly 10 other people for a wedding anniversary party on our second visit. The impeccable customer service spoiled us at the Tontine and the staff started to feel like part of the family.
The breakfast, coffee and dinner were delicious and the location of the hotel right on the high street was excellent. All of our guests slept comfortably and enjoyed relaxing and dining in the hotel. The check out was seamless and the staff understood our needs sometimes before we did. The amenities were great and the shower was spacious and updated.
The beds were large and clean and the sheets were of high quality. I have and will continue to recommend the Tontine to friends and family and we very much look forward to seeing Kate and the rest of the team sometime soon. Thank you again to the Tontine!

We didn't stay, just had a meal in the restaurant. As others have said, the place needs upgrading - it was like going back in time, both in terms of decor and menu. We both had the beef roast, which was uninspiring and parts of the meat needed a steak knife; inedible. The staff however were cheerful and helpful.

This hotel is great. Food is good cleanliness is exceptional staff are very helpful and polite. I would have given it 5 stars if accessibility to the rooms was easier, saw too many older guests struggling with cases etc trying to either climb stairs or brave the hill adjacent to hotel. But would go back.

We had an absolutely fantastic two night stay at the Tontine (Mar 2022). The family room we had was spacious and the beds were really comfortable. The breakfast was amazing and the bar and lounge were great places to socialise. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. All in all, I'd be back there like a shot, I just cannot fault it.

Great stay, superb food, very friendly and helpful staff. Covid measures still in place with evidence of cleanliness easily seen. All requests dealt with efficiently, the fact the owners and family are hands on gives the hotel a homely feel. Some rooms on the back of the hotel have uninterrupted views of the Tweed, definitely worth upgrading for. These rooms are serviced by a small lift and most have walk in showers. A most enjoyable stay.

We haven't actually stayed here but have eaten in the restaurant a couple of times since their refurb and have had good experiences. The restaurant space is fantastic, it's like a grand ballroom and is just a lovely place to sit and have a meal. With social distancing measures in place, there are fewer tables than they probably would have, so you are practically guaranteed a peaceful evening.
We found the menu, although not extensive, had enough variety to cope with most diets, and they are always willing to adapt to your particular needs. Portions were just right - meaning we could manage the full three courses! Staff were courteous, friendly and chatty, and made us feel very welcome.

We did not stay at the hotel on this trip, however I would be remiss to not mention our past stay which was quite nice. The staff was pleasent and the rooms comfortable, though not lavish. The full breakfast included in the dining room is quite nice and enjoyable. The stairs navigating to some of the rooms can be a bit awkward if you have much luggage.
