Taychreggan is situated to allow you to make the very most of this unique area with an abundance of lochs and mountains on our doorstep. Nestled within its very own bay looking down Loch Awe and within an easy drive of Glencoe and Glen Etive via the spectacular Glen Orchy, close to Oban - the ferry gateway to Western Isles of Mull and Iona - we are the ideal place in which to enjoy the very best of this beautiful corner of the West Highlands.

Taychreggan began life as a humble 17th century cattle drovers inn, built on a small peninsula that juts out into the loch. It was from here, at Loch Awe's narrowest crossing point, the cattle would swim across. From bustling with cattle the hotel now boasts a romantic country house hotel; full of features of a bygone day with the same idyllic setting.
Due to the hotel's stature and geographical location, we require a 14 day cancellation notice in writing. Our Master Suite offers luxury and the chance to relax. With its supersized four poster bed and beautiful antique furniture it's the ideal space to enjoy the company of a loved one. Indulge in the jacuzzi tub (big enough for two) or just chill with a book in the cosy lounge area.
Our beautiful new dining room 'Faodail' (lucky find) is truly that. We are delighted to have held 2 AA rosettes for more than 20 years and with that you can be assured that our menu offers the very best of local and seasonal produce all sourced from Scotland's abundant natural larder. Ghillies Bar offers guests the chance to sample some of the finest local malts, ales, artisan gins and spirits from our vast selection. Our experienced staff are always on hand to help and inform you with their knowledge.
Taychreggan sits alone on its own bay, within forty acres of woodland and gardens on the banks of Loch Awe. Situated at the head of Loch Awe, Kilchurn Castle is one of the most beautiful and photographed castles in Scotland. Located nearby is St. Conan's Kirk, a l9th century church with a surreal and affecting mixture of styles - including gothic gargoyles - and worth a visit.

Taychreggan is a must on anyones to do list. 17th Century coachouse nestled by Loch Awe. The location is stunning and there is something special that cant be quantified. The grounds are well manicured but look so natural, so much so it's hard to stop yourself taking a dip in the Loch when the suns out. It is surrounded by forrestry and is simply quite beautiful.
The home and it will feel very much like a home from home during your stay is sympathetically decorated and is imaginatively styled ensuring there are lots of special touches making your stay memorable. Inside, this could be the dog corner, housing everything required for a happy hound, to a lovely quiet seating area in the orangery to play games, read a book or just sit and soak up the peaceful atmosphere, not to mention a well stock bar or a game of snooker on a full size table. Outside, it's the beauty of the outdoors, your ears are filled with birdsong and your eyes filled with joy at the natural surrounding beauty.
Of course, night time is also special as you can sit by the Loch with your own fire pit which is started for you and you can build with pre chopped wood, also left for you as well as a very attentive outside bar service. The rooms are large, traditional, Scottish, well kept and clean and there is housekeeping but we never used it. They pay attention to the environment and dont use single use plastic, instead theres good quality toiletries which are topped up, they encourage re use of towels but will provide new on request.
The food is delicious and you can choose from A la Carte or Bar or Bar menu and you can eat in the Orangery from both menus. Even your dog can accompany you, under the table which is novel, refreshing and a really nice touch. Dogs are just as important as guests and the only place they are not allowed is in the A la Carte Restaurant. The choices for breakfast are huge, beautifully displayed, fresh and thoughtful this combined with table service whilst seated infront of the Loch is a fabulous start to the day.
The Staff are the glue to this jewel in the crown of Oban. They are professionals through and through, attentive, informative, knowledgeable and clearly happy in all they do so much so you can feel it. The Boss, Michelle is the GM and she can found at Reception, waitressing and also swimming in the Loch. She knows every crook and crannie of Taychreggan and just how she ticks.
She has an excellent eye, fabulous personality, real customer care skills, a real affiliation with her Taychreggan family, impressive ideas and will ensure that Taychreggan will continue going from strength to strength. She works hard as do the team and this combined with location, excellent service, fabulous food ensure everyone who crosses their door is made to feel special and is guaranteed to have an unforgettable stay.

This is one of the most relaxing and beautiful places I have ever stayed. Stunning scenery, welcoming staff, great food and so dog friendly. So quiet, so peaceful but Oban is in easy reach. Mr Dog loved it. Basket of tennis balls to choose from at the front door and towels to dry him after a swim in the Loch, walks in the woods, and a sausage at breakfast.

The hotel itself is in gorgeous grounds overlooking loch but experience let down by no fine dining menu and no heating or hot water for 24hrs and staff did not address this. It was so unprofessional and spoilt our stay, there were also no extra blankets in room that we could have used to keep warm. The room itself needs gutted as it was very run down and old fashioned, just be aware when booking to ask for a room overlooking the loch

Stayed in this lovely hotel for 2 nights. Staff welcoming & attentive & hotel set in beautiful rural surroundings with amazing views over Loch Awe. Excellent breakfast choices on offer as well as tasty informal fine dining. Meals are also served in the bar area. If you're looking to get away from it all this is the place to be - comfy beds, cosy & relaxed atmosphere, friendly & helpful staff & amazing views - bliss! Well worth a visit.

Very friendly welcome, the room was ready on our arrival. Clean, spacious and warm. The hotel is a mixture of traditional and new, each room is well decorated and beckons you to sit and relax. Food, my favour subject the breakfast caters for every taste from full Scottish, ham or salmon benedict to any combination of hams cheese and pastries with an unlimited supply of tea and coffee.
I defy anyone not to be satisfied. Service from staff pleasant, sociable, informative on the surrounding area and nothing to much trouble. Evening meal in the restaurant is a pleasurable experience, the food is exquisitely cooked, the duck melts in your mouth. I cannot normally eat 3 courses but I would have managed as a large appetite might need a little more.
The food in the bar is excellent we highly recommend the steak burger. The only suggestion I have is the menu needs to provide more options to the menu in the bar. We would recommend a stay to relax and unwind. Thank you it was wonderful.

Had a wonderful few days here. The roads are not for the faint hearted though as they are windy with passing places. The food was excellent, the staff really helpful & the breakfasts not too early - served up to 10.00am. The scenery & views are spectacular as the hotel sits right on Loch Awe. Highly recommended.

Romantic break with my wife for my birthday and what a great choice of venue. Pretty much right off the beaten track on the shores of Loch Awe what a great place to chill and enjoy great food. We were blessed with great weather and hotel staff do make sure there are plenty of outside seating options but the hotel has so much public space too any weather will do. The staff also light outdoor fires at night so that you enjoy an evening under the stars without the midges! What you waiting on?
