Lovely views over the loch. Excellent vegan menu and great service. Accommodation in the new wing was just a little bit tired and dated, and the walls are very thin (thank you for the tunes snoring neighbour! ) but it was very clean and comfortable. I could have happily sat on the balcony soaking in the view for hours and hours.

Just got home from a wonderful short break at LMH. Lovely room, beautiful view, excellent food and friendly and attentive staff. It is a great place to relax! Actively dog-friendly too! Despite almost continuous rain, we really enjoyed our stay. Aiming to experience it all again some time in the sun! Thanks team!

Beautiful location. View from room was just stunning. Our doggie was made very welcome and received a few treats and extras. Food was of high quality and service was excellent. The only grump I have was I mentioned we were celebrating our silver anniversary when booking and checking in but unfortunately nothing was made of this, was a bit disappointed.

Fantastic overnight stay - the views are breathtaking and never get old! The room was good - clean and spacious with a lovely deck area. could hear the people upstairs running about a little but nothing unbearable. Bathroom was spacious too and very clean. The food was outstanding - what a treat! The menu is varied and everything tasted amazing. The scallops were cooked to perfection and the fish main was absolutely delicious -as was the chocolate dessert!
Nice little touches like the bread rolls and the sorbet between courses made the meal feel extra specia - A highlight of the trip. Breakfast was also very tasty and really liked that locally sourced food was used. Staff were attentive and pleasant, nothing was too much trouble. Definitely going to be returning soon - a hidden gem not too far from Oban!

An absolutely great hotel. We stayed in a room in the house with a balcony overlooking the Loch. The room was good but with the balcony and weather it was great. Food was, in my humble opinion, exceptional, I particularly liked the smoked sea trout which I had for breakfast and dinner on one day. The staff were just right, friendly and very efficient as it should be. Will I go back? Yes but it's a long way from home so it needs planning into another tour of scotland

What's not to like about this Hotel. Beautiful views when having a meal on a lovely day outside. Also staff really nice and friendly. Got nice plant's at the garden centre. Also we had a walk round the Mini botanical garden. Lovely pit stop. Glad we found it, on the passing going to Adfern for a overnight stay.

Great location with fantastic views of the western isles, the sea view rooms are fantastic with a walk out balcony or decking. Main reason for the review is because the food and service was excellent. We are both veggies, breakfast, lunch and dinner, we had great options and the food was amazing. Plenty there for vegans too. We don't find this everywhere so really appreciate it. The waiting staff are really friendly and prompt. Only thing that would improve the stay for us would be if you have cocktails available.

I'd always fancied an overnight stay here, with the beach on the doorstep, and beautiful scenery nearby, but sadly not anymore after the poor service on Saturday. It's disappointing to still find this level of service in an area of Scotland where tourism is vital. Food when it eventually arrived was fine, hence the 2 stars. Our order was lost, only passed to the kitchen when we enquired over an hour later and then there was a further wait, with no drinks or even bread offered, before it arrived. When a manager eventually apologised it was so half-hearted and insincere that I really think this hotel and restaurant has no interest in their customers.

A beautiful lochside location with gorgeous weather serving locally sourced seafood and game. What could possibly ruin such an idyllic scene? Well, the worst service experienced for many years and ever reducing menu in the mid-afternoon when the restaurant doesn't close until 9pm. The Melfort Hotel has stunning views across the Coryvechan toward Jura and it is a good job as a 70 minute wait for two sandwiches a bowl of mussels and a grilled salmon isn't acceptable and equally neither is it good once reminded after 60 minutes of waiting to be told the meal will be 5 minutes longer and then taking 10.
When the bill did arrive we had to ask if something was going to be offered for the poor service at which point the member of staff told us he had to ask the manager, he did and gave us a third off which was some compensation but it might have been nice for the manager himself to make the offer instead of sending the lacky back with a message. The food was ok when it arrived, hence two stars instead of one but a small microwaved bread roll really isn't enough for a large pot of mussels. This had great potential but sadly let down by poor service and cheap food to accompany some very good mussels.
