Enter into the Victorian splendour of Sawrey House Country Hotel. Here service, quality and an atmosphere of hospitality blend to provide an idyllic holiday retreat for both the lively and the lazy. The House stands proudly in slate hewn from the very fells it overlooks and occupies a prestigious place in the centre of the Southern Lakeside National Park in the lovely village of Near Sawrey. A village where only yards away Beatrix Potter spent much of her life and where still stands her charming home, Hilltop.

Went here for our anniversary meal. We didn't book as we kind of just tried on the off chance as we walked past. Very accommodating staff, polite and humorous. The meal was top notch. Really enjoyed it. Great setting. Clean and welcoming. Can't comment on rooms.as we didn't stay but I imagine they are great too going by what we experienced down stairs

Wow! What can I say! A fabulous afternoon was had at Sawrey House Hotel. We booked an Afternoon Tea as we were going to be in the area and they very kindly worked around our travel times which was really appreciated as we were limited on time. David was wonderful and shared some great stories. The Afternoon Tea was 'Instagramable' if was that good!
Not only the presentation but it was delicious. Definitely worth visiting and to top it off the views are incredible. Thanks again to the team at Sawrey House Hotel. We will be back! Xx

What a great experience in this 11 bedroom hotel. The food & service is great and there is oodles of hot water at a good pressure. The lounge is sumptuous & the dining room is well laid out with enough room. Without doubt one of the cleanest hotels I have ever stopped in, with nice decor. comfortable beds and bedroom furniture.

Great one night stay with gorgeous food in the evening. Seen some of the posts staging old property and dated yes it is an old property. Don't go if you are expecting a glitzy glamour property, with all the mod cons that you don't end up using, but do go if you want to savour the delights of a period property in the heart of the lake district. The great hosts and good food is simply icing on the cake.

Had an amazing afternoon tea here. The homemade scones were massive and tasted amazing. I would have preferred clotted cream for them but there was a generous portion of cream and jam. The cakes were perfect but we had to take some away as we were so full. It was great value for money. The owner who served us was really friendly and chatty with us and was also happy to show us some rooms. We loved the place so much we are planning to stay for a couple of nights in the future.
