We came to day for afternoon tea one of my 70th birthday presents really enjoyed it the waitress was very polite had a lovely manner.the sandwiches were really tasty.was only one very small complaint will you please ask your cleaner when she cleans the toilet to walk in close the door in the toilet will then notice the dust behind the door the rest of the toilets were fine just didn't give a very good impression. But the whole experience was very enjoyable and will be back. Can you tell me on a lovely sunny afternoon can you eat on the terrace as the view was lovely

Extremely disappointed. Experienced very poor service, firstly given the wrong meal, which was eventually replaced. My brother wasn't served bread with his soup as advertised instead was given bread about 15 mins before the soup. We had to help ourselves to cutlery, napkins and forced to ask for sauces as we were never asked if we wanted anything.
When given the correct meal, the young lady just said 'here you go', no apology or other comments. Left feeling very cold and unwelcome. Food was also dry, tasteless and overpriced. AVOID.

It's ok. Service good and food ok. Will try again and update. I just got the feeling it's run by someone even older than me.simple menu lots of pig options, race horses on the wall sports tv yet trying to be something a bit better than that old pub in North Yorkshire that served John Smiths and Carling.

Used a Groupon voucher today for an afternoon tea plus Bucks Fizz. We had a wonderful welcome and staff were very friendly and polite. We were given a variety of savouries and cakes with two pots of lovely coffee and the Bucks fizz to finish. We were not rushed at any time and were asked a few times if everything was ok. Very good value for money and if the offer was on next year I would have no hesitation in going again.

We visited yesterday for our Groupon Afternoon Tea. Warmly greeted by staff, service very good. It was a lovely afternoon tea with an extended choice of savouries, so besides the usual sandwiches, we had filled rolls and hot sausage rolls which, were particularly nice. The scones were flavoursome but a little overdone. The cakes were delicious but the small apple and blackberry pie needed some additional sugar or flavouring.
These are only minor comments because on the whole, it was one of the best afternoon teas we've had.and we've a lot! Plentiful supply of hot tea, the fizz was good and the staff lovely so, would highly recommend as value for money.

This could have easily have been a 5 star. The lady on reception when checking in was very helpful and friendly like all the other staff in the bar and restaurant. The lady on reception when checking out though was very unhelpful. We asked about the Air con in the rooms that we paid for and that there was no controller to turn it on she was so unhelpful this slightly took the edge off an excellent stay apart from that. Shame after everyone else was so helpful and friendly.

Very interesting establishment steeped in history and atmosphere. A 100 ft deep well in the reception area, revealed many historic artefacts which illustrated the time line of the original farmstead. All the staff were very courteous and friendly and helpful, going the extra effort to make our visit individual and personal. The afternoons teas were very high quality and plentiful, too much for a single sitting. "Doggy bags" were provided! Our visit was very enjoyable and would recommend others to visit to savour the experience for them selves.

Stayed here after attending my nieces wedding. Lovely hotel, staff were all vary friendly and welcoming. Our room was very nice, clean, plenty of space for your clothes and things and a king size bed. lovely big bathroom with large shower over the the bath. Breakfast the next morning very good with plenty of choices hot and cold. The views from the hotel were amazing, a good place to stay for a couple of days if you like walking.
