Over priced. First impressions lovely decor pleasant staff. Could hardly read menu as type do feint thought 65 for a la carte menu expensive. Each course creatively presented but portions far too small. The wait between courses far too long we sat down at 8pm and left at 10.30 wine overpriced. Wouldn't even water on the table

Everything about our stay was delightful. The staff were attentive, friendly and informed especially about the food and wine. Our room was spacious, clean, with ample storage space. The decor of our room and throughout the hotel was fascinating. All in all it was everything we excepted and more and made our Golden Wedding celebration extra special.

I cannot speak highly enough about this hotel! It was absolutely incredible. Newly (and beautifully) decorated, it was immaculate throughout. The lounges had roaring fires, which made for a relaxing and cosy night in after a day walking the lakes. We visited with our dog, and it's the first time we have stayed at a hotel and felt there's no compromise to be had having him with us.
He was treated like a guest, to the extent that when we went for breakfast/dinner a blanket was laid out for him to lay on (there is a separate dining room for dog owners to the guests with dogs. This dining room is of a v high standard you would expect for dining without dogs. The food was absolutely sensational (some of the best food I've ever had).
Our room was spacious with a rainfall shower, bath, corner sofa, dog bed, bowl and treats for him, he loved it so much it was hard to motivate him to go for a walk! Upon returning he gladly got into the dog shower provided in the boot room, without any persuasion (a first) and was extremely content to lay down and dry by the fire in his robe provided by the hotel.
The staff gave him lots of fuss, which he loved. We were late back from a walk on our last morning and believed we had missed breakfast, but the staff asked if we would like it anyway (yes!) which they arranged, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. If dogs aren't your thing, don't be put off about it being a dog friendly hotel - they have set it up in a way that you can be entirely separate from them in the dining room and lounge. Absolutely outstanding, would recommend without hesitation, our favourite hotel we've stayed in the UK, will definitely be back.

Visited for the taster menu when staying in Ambleside with friends. A little disappointed that whwn it was booked the price was 70 or 75 So very surprised that on the night it was 95! Some prior notice would have been appreciated. It was lovely although the service between courses towards the end of the menu was slow. We finished at 10.45 pm from a 6.30 booking time.

We did not stay overnight as we live in Keswick just 30 mins drive. Booked by accident as we had a voucher bought for us at Rothay garden and realised when we turned up there was no reservation as I had booked the wrong hotel and my phone history search agreed. So glad I made the mistake as the Sunday lunch was incredible. I have a pork allergy also gluten free and this was well catered for. Staff brilliant. Food awesome. Brilliant wine menu. Surroundings and decor beautiful. We can't wait to return. Definitely up there with my favourite places to eat.

Lovely place, staff are superb, a tight knit team who can't do enough for you to make sure you enjoy your stay despite being run off their feet at times. Dan and his team provide top quality food, you can't go wrong no matter what you pick. Strongly recommend the tasting menu, clever use of ingredients ensures your taste buds are working overtime whilst presentation is pleasing to the eye. Rooms are very clean and very well presented. Thank you to all for a very enjoyable stay.
