Services
Dating back to the 16th Century, The Red Lion is steeped in history and indeed we once played host to a most royal guest. In 1646, King Charles I cut his hair short and disguised as a servant fled from Oxford to join the Scot's at Southwell. Today, with traffic hurrying by on the main road, many people fail to realise that the Red Lion is that remote tavern which sheltered the fugitive King.
The Red Lion Hotel, near Uxbridge, is located in Hillingdon village. With good access to central London and major road routes, it's an excellent base for business or leisure travel. With the hotel near Heathrow Airport (just 5 miles away), it makes the perfect stopover en-route to far flung destinations the world over.

Get the King Charles room. This inn has been around 380+ years. The King Charles room, one of only two original rooms, is quite large with a view of the church yard. It has a covered 4-poster bed that was very comfortable. The heating system was turned off for the summer season, but summer clearly didn't get the memo. So, thankfully, they had very effective space heaters available. The completely redecorated bathroom was practically a shrine with a huge tub and showed cabinet. The food in the restaurant was okay, but not thrilling.

Stayed 2 nights at The Red Lion, very friendly from housekeeping, to bar staff to front desk. Yana & Sam at the front desk went the extra mile to help me get my phone charged. The assistant manager also gave me some post-jubilee Union Jack flags to give out on my return home. Great patio, fine good & great fish n chips shop right across the street. Recommended!

Decent rooms, free parking area, good food, most of all helpful staff. We stayed in this hotel two weeks ago, we chose to come back to this hotel again because of Tihana welcoming and helping us out of her way, so we can enjoy our stay. We were so happy to see her again and she was helpful just like before. I recommend this hotel, you will not regret it.

A very nice place to stay. Nice rooms with complementary fridge, yes, you actually get a free beer, wine. Room included a proper coffee maker and coffee selection. Staff were fantastic and happy to help. Good restaurant food and a great bar. (They almost lost a star due to lack of hot water one day, but they volentarily offered a part-refund so they keep the 5th star)

I came in on Sunday with my family just for a couple of drinks before heading off to meet some friends. The Bartender Danyal was such a helpful and kind member of staff. He kept a very friendly attitude when dealing with my self, and my parents. He continued to provide conversation about the beers on offer and then continued to talk to my father, and father in law about belgium and belgian beers.
I am also so amazed by the languages he speaks. What a young man. I unfortunately did not deal with any of the other staff but i am sure they are more than lovely. I will be be back to the red lion hotel soon, and im going to make sure i mention this place and Danyal to all my friends. Thank you for making our Sunday wonderful! xxx

Went to the Restaurant. We've been before, and usually its been pretty good. However, they (I'll be kind) were clearly having a bad day. Waiting staff were friendly, but useless. 15 minutes to get our drinks. Food - indifferent. I had fish and chips - fish hot (but clearly pre-frozen). Peas & chips cold/lukewarm. Pudding - they only had 2 copies of the pudding menu! All in all a very dissappointing meal. I hope they improve. They need to.

I love this quintessential English hotel and pub. it is stepped with history - King Charles I is rumored to have been in the tavern on site here in 1646 as he fled Oxford. The King Charles room here is lovely, the four poster bed makes you feel like a princess and is so comfortable that I felt like I was on a fluffy cloud sleeping! The bathroom was spacious with both a bath and walk in shower - only downside was lack of full toiletries - could be because of Covid but no wash cloths, hair conditioner, or cotton bud and wool supplies as the norm.
Nice touch in the room is a complimentary bottle of Fullers Ale and a well stocked hot drink and biscuit box. The breakfast offerings are always fresh and tasty - staff are friendly and very nice ensuring you are taken care of. A great place to be before or after Heathrow and the new Fish and Chip shop across the road can be a nice addition too! I really recommend staying and eating here
