Friendly staff, room was clean but shower was awful. Tried and tried to get it slightly warm and then went cold again. Loose toilet seat and sink drained away very slowly. Pillows and bed very comfortable and breakfast was lovely. Didn't see any cereal or pastries etc but was offered strawberries. Breakfast was cooked lovely though and all in all a lovely experience. Would stay again.

Place is nice perhaps a bit noisy above the door. Guest don't seem to recognise the sign saying don't slam the door. Does disturb you in the early hours. If you are in the rooms directly above. Our 8 month old puppy escaped out the room as we were putting our bags down. Shouting heard down stairs. Realised he was out. Found him cowering in the corner after the completely irrational reaction from the owner and manager who continues shouting at me for letting him off the leash.
For a couple of minutes I could not get an apology in edgewise. Poor guy was shivering and must have peed himself in fear. I agree dogs should not be off the leash. But as you are arriving expect that there will be confusion. And at least allow your guest to explain and not have 2 people (manager and owner) shouting. I was really angry with them but my tongue. So. Don't bring your dog no matter how conscientious you are as a dog owner, they say they are dog friendly, but this innocent accident and their over reaction proves otherwise.

Have visited Brighton multiple times over the years and stayed at all sorts of B&Bs and bigger hotels - this is definitely up there amongst the best of the best! The welcome was incredibly polite, professional and set the tone - you really feel welcome and off to a great start! I forgot the guy's name unfortunately, but he was incredibly welcoming and was dashing about to deliver exceptional service.
The room was a nice size (2nd floor), had comfy beds and space for a wardrobe, table, TV and a pair of chairs/small table. Built in USB sockets into the wall was definitely a bonus for travellers in this day and age! A great view out to the sea and it's incredibly close to most amenities. As it's just off the main road, it is a little bit quieter than staying directly on the seafront. Exceptionally clean, fresh - credit to housekeeping!
The following morning was greeted by a lovely host Suzy - who served up a delicious, super-fresh and locally sourced breakfast. Service, service, service - absolutely excellent and very accommodating! Will be back am sure :) Only thing I could fault was that the bathroom was a little small and shower wasn't particularly great, but definitely a top experience!

I cannot fault this place. From the first moment, the staff were so friendly and welcoming, they talk with genuine interest about your stay and offer the best room for a great price, I genuinely think you could not stay anywhere thats better value for money than New Steine (We booked the standard double room) Its in a great location as its near the sea front, as you walk out too the right of the hotel you can see the sea! (The pier and shopping centre is about a 15 min walk which is very reasonable) Thank you New Steine for the memories and we look forward too returning year after year

For the price you can't fault it. The rooms are small, the bathrooms small and the decor a little. Worn but it's lovely and clean, reception is friendly and helpful and it's extremely well priced and situated. Would highly recommend staying here if you are in Brighton and won't need more than a room and a bar. If you are in rooms 208 or 209 get ready for a mini Kilimanjaro climb, so much so that they even put the door handles at the bottom of the door as you will be on your knees panting when you eventually get to your room.

Cool art all around this nice little hotel. Rooms are small but have what you need. Double beds, shower, small table, hair dryer, hot water pot, safe. Wifi does not reach into second floor room but can go downstairs into common area. Breakfast is included and served up in a quaint open area on the main floor. Close walk to the Brighton pier.

Incredibly superior staff. Excellent location. WiFi was strong and segmented for easy usage. Neighborhood is densely populated with good restaurants and bars and close to the Pier and the Pavillion. Much quieter than being on the main road but note that Brighton is a party town and late night noise exists. We had the basement garden room, which was quiet. Rooms are nicely done and only complaint was the low water pressure, although it was adequate and hot. The garden bathtub was great. Oh yes, an excellent breakfast too.

I completely agree with Jessica, when I checked this place out I was impressed with the quality of service and products laid on for what you paid. I have been looking at current prices and they have got some cracking deals on if you are thinking of coming down to Brighton for the weekend or want to treat a loved one. The location is excellent as well as it's close enough to be right in the city but you shouldn't get too much noise pollution in the early hours of the morning from the nightlife.

New Steine Hotel was the first name to pop up on almost every internet search for Brighton accommodation. Once I'd checked in, I could understand why. The service was wonderful and welcoming and the little cafe near the front desk had me looking forward to the next day's breakfast as soon as I arrived. My single room was small, but came with both a television and free wireless internet.
I barely had a reason to move that first day. The only downside was the shared bathroom down the hall, but for 54 per night, I wasn't complaining. Plus, there was a full sized bathtub for guests who wanted a good soak. Breakfast surpassed my expectations - a selection of full hot meals or the buffet of cold cereals, toast and fruit were included in the price. Delightful. I'd recommend booking early - the hotel was full by the time I tried to extend my stay.
