An elegant Regency country house, cradled by both the Quantocks and the Blackdown Hills, the Mount Somerset is the 'Most Excellent Country Hotel' in the U.K, noted for its elegance and warmth. It has the warm, inviting feel of a delightful, private country house and, having only 11 bedrooms, gives you the feeling you are staying with friends. High ceilings, large windows and a fabulous, sweeping, circular staircase create a sense of spaciousness and elegance. Real log fires, abundant scatter cushions and antique pictures and ornaments add extra warmth and colour.

Did our anniversary here and really felt special. There were many little personal touches. The dining experience was in a league of its own, with little complimentary amuse bouch before the meal. The staff were all so lovely. The spa was lovely. I honestly don't have anything bad to say. Thank you Mount Somerset Hotel for making our special day memorable

Lovely venue. Had a wedding event here and it was a beautiful day and a beautiful wedding. Unfortunately how you can justify nearly 5 for a pint of lager which tasted so rank it was barely drinkable is beyond me. Add to that the fact the bar only served doubles a round of 4 drinks was over 36! Considering how much our friends paid to hold their wedding there, I find that disgraceful.

Such a beautiful hotel in superb surroundings. We visited for afternoon tea and enjoyed every bite and sip. The waiter who served us was so polite and efficient. Make sure to book ahead as each afternoon tea is specially constructed by the chef to be perfect. There were scones and sandwiches and cakes and desserts and the most delicious croque monsieur.

After our first stay, we had some issues with the electrics in the room however this was proved to be an issue easily resolvable by the understanding management and staff of the hotel. They were very understanding of our frustrations and were exceptional. Here we are again tonight on our second visit to the hotel and it had been fantastic, we met the director who took the time to come up and visit us personally to make sure everything was perfect. We have recommended the hotel to our friends and will continue to do so, thank you for all your hard work and efforts to make our stay so enjoyable.

We had a Travel zoo lunch voucher. We had no idea what a beautiful hotel this was. The staff were very pleasant and efficient. It was a lovely lunch. We felt we were judges on Great British Menu. We were very impressed with the meal. The venison bolanise starter was fantastic. The gardens were beautiful too.

Lovely relaxing evening and meal in comfort with great surroundings and excellent service. The meal started in the bar with drinks and an amuse bouche then moved into the main restaurant, returning to the comfort of the fire in the bar for coffee. The only reason for not rating 5* is the menu choices, there is too much emphasis on trying to be different (excellent though the chef is if you don't want to eat game you will not choose).

It was noticeable that of the tables we could hear ordering most of the food selected was the more traditional, hence in my opinion give at least two traditional meat options and one less exotic. We will be back anyway!

The hotel was beautiful. The room size was great and room facilities good also. The scones for afternoon tea were freshly baked and fantastic, as was the evening meal- really great food and service. Although they had a spa and some spa facilities, we hadn't realised there was no pool. Enjoyed our stay nevertheless and would go back.
