Situated in the heart of the Welsh Valleys, our elevated location set within 9 acres of private landscaped gardens provide splendid views over the surrounding countryside and a relaxing base for both the business and leisure visitor. The present house was built for Sir Captain Edmund Williams, an important local mine owner and High Sheriff of Monmouthshire, in 1890, whilst the history of the site, known as Maesrudded, (Translated means 'Fields and Freedom') can be traced back to 1434.

My husband booked sunday lunch to check out the venue for a bigger event next year. The views were amazing but that was it. First of all the table wasn't clean crumbs every were, second the head waitress didn't know how to say lamb cawl (she said its because she's English, l'm English but know how to say it) it's he job to know what she's serving!. third Lamb Cawl is meant to be large peaces of lamb, veg and potatoes in a light broth!
It was thick gravy (it did tast nice but not a broth) with little bits of lamb and veg no potatoes. Forth a junior waitress got us a wine list she said " lve crossed off all the wines we don't have", head waitress took our wine order and said "do you have a second choice" we did so, she came with the second choice. You should have an up-to-date wine list for that day. fifth when the wine came they provided wine glass that you would get in your local not a Manor House. Sixth when ordering our main l asked if the pork came with crackling? Head waitress didn't know (again she should know what food she is serving). Lovely grounds but the service and food doesn't say Manor House.

Simple awful. Disgusting run down decor. We were woke up at 4am by what sounded like catering fans running full blast these run right the way up until we gave up on sleeping at 7:30. The shower is simply laughable there is no pressure it just dribbles out. The rooms were so dated I was simply blown away but how the place is even open. This should be classed as a hostel not a hotel. Never ever again. We requested the details to complain, were provided minimal information and the girl on the desk said " I'm fed up of people complaining all the time "

I only came here for an event which was an ABBA tribute band with food. The area is beautiful and the hotel is big. The Staff members are friendly and I never had an issue with the service I recieved. I have previously been here before for a friends wedding reception and the dinning room was big and had a dance floor and a stage. There is a bar so you don't have to travel far to get a drink. Toilets are kept clean.
Overall a really good experience. As for the ABBA tribute band I couldn't be more happy about their performance. Both Ladies interacted with the audience and the one stoped to let me take a picture with her. Food here is lovely too.

Under staffed, there was a domestic the whole night and no staff to deal with it. Never slept. Food was ok. The tv and heating was not working in our room, seems to be a common complaint. We were given a bottle of wine as an apology. Staff when you could find them were pleasant. Won't be back and it's a real shame as this place could be amazing

Had a lovely afternoon at my friends lynseys baby shower, we had a selection of sandwiches and cakes to which were lovely and fresh, also pots of tea were flowing, couldn't fault it. Staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble, we had a beautiful room which was very spacious. Enjoyed the whole afternoon there at the beautiful Maes Manor. Definitely recommend you give it a go.

Pleasant place, though I suspect we were allocated one of the smaller, less attractive rooms. Food very good, enormous helpings! We were there for a family wedding and everything went like clockwork, the staff were very attentive and obliging. I must just mention the lovely grounds, with a neatly trimmed lawn, laid out with shrubs, bushes and trees and a spectacular view from its raised position. I'd stay again, but I would ask for a different room.
