The Bessemer Hotel

Very small tv impossible to watch laing in bed. Biggest problem no hot water.cant have shower before bed. No day shef soup.

We only stayed here for one night to break up the long drive, with a reservation booked. Despite only giving 3 stars, there isn't much to complain about. However, there isn't much to sing about either. The room was fine, I did get a The Shining vibe while walking there though. The shower was awful, hot but no power behind it and the floor was soaked because the curtain was clearly drunk and couldn't do its job properly.

Free WiFi = awesome. We go to the bar for a drink, but are standing around for about 10 minutes because there's no staff around and when they did come, they weren't apologetic, just demanded our order. The restaurant, clearly very popular and the food was 3 stars worthy, chicken was overcooked but drenched with BBQ sauce, totally fine. The chips cooked to perfection.

We saw the dessert menu and the ice creams looked amazing! So we went for it. Such a disappointment, the real thing is nothing like the picture, so don't be fooled! Good for a quick place to stay and would use again for a night's visit (but haven't looked around the area for anything better either) Good luck.

Good rooms, ok food. Stayed for 1 night before hiking into the Brecon Beacons, nice big room and even had a Jacuzzi bath! Had carvery dinner and fry up for breakfast, both were ok especially given the breakfast was included. The owner and staff made up for this as they were very friendly and kind enough to let us leave the car for a couple of days.

Carvery was beautiful meat very tasty and not shy either, worth the visit

Beautiful place and great location . I had the opportunity to stay here for few days and succeeded in my solo walk from this hotel to Neuadd reservoir. Delicious food grilled fish with coleslaw and vegetables for dinner was good. After returning from my long beautiful solo walk, I had the wild berry sundae which was phenomenal in taste first time to have the same in my life.

Thanks for the same to all staff I was very moved by meeting such generous people during the walk and also near the hotel who guided me through and took good care of me, very lovely people in Merthyr Tydfil. I thank the manager for giving me the proper directions and to the staff as well for my solo walk to reservoir's. As a water student it was a good experience seeing the beautiful mountain view and lovely green nature of surrounding pontsticiil and Neuadd reservoir.

Clean air ice cold pure water and beautiful view all over. A must visit to these sites for water science professional, engineer and scientists. Also those who are into solo walk or group walk this is a must destination. My next trip will be from Neuadd reservoir to penn y fan ,w ill see you soon Bessemer hotel . Staff were very friendly and accommodating and the breakfast was very nice. It was also included in the price of the stay. Perfect location for walking in the brecon beacons which was the purpose for our stay. Only knocked one star off because it is very dated, although it is well kept and clean! I would reccomend

Great hotel. Lovely lobby. Friendly staff. We stayed for three nights and every night was busy in the restaurant set within the hotel. Free breakfast. Great value for money.

Some nice staff, man carving meat miserable and not pleasant at all, asked for crackling cause I wasn't having pork told me I couldn't have any. Vegetables not to the normal standard and it was very cold there not sure if that was due to all the new restrictions for ventilation

I been coming here for over 20 years with my family for celebrations and birthdays. The staff our great and always make our night a special one. The food and drink is the best and we always feel so welcome. My children who are gown up now still always ask to come here for their birthdays so, I think that speaks for itself.
