Lysses House Hotel

I don't get why this hotel is 3 stars. Everything ranging from service and presentation was simply outstanding. The services in the room were impeccable, usually only found in some 4 star hotels. The towels they provide were plentiful, clothing racks were plentiful, bathroom was in clean condition. Sure, the rooms itself may be a little old for some people's liking, but for a classic hotel, it definitely ticks all the right boxes for me.

Additional bedding, full 100% coffee/tea service in the room with plenty of drawer space (AND A DAMN TEAPOT), mirrors, a functional tv, comfortable bedding, and a good number of extras you wouldn't find in any chain hotels. I booked a double room as the price was the same as a single, but the room is significantly spacious. If anything could do with changes, it could be the door handle as it was shaky and some additional security/convenience features would be ideal (i.e. card access, etc). The staff were immensely friendly and welcoming, not completely immersed in the work either to have a quick chat. Honestly, I don't think I could have booked a better hotel.

On arrival at the reception desk we were greeted by a smilling, cheerful member of staff. We were attending a School Reunion which was held in the evening. The sit down buffet was of excellent quality and the bar prices reasonable. Our room was clean and bright although it did look out over the kitchen area. The kitchen extractor fans came on at about 7am which woke us up.

The en-suite was immaculate and modern although there was a bit of dust on the light fitting over the mirror (I shouldn't watch 4 in a bed so often). Breakfast was great, although the tablecloth was covered with a few crumbs from the previous guest, which should have been swept away before relaying. Overall a lovely hotel with friendly staff and a refereshing change from the 4 star hotel we had just came from. Would stay again, without hesitation.

It is a lovely hotel, but needs updating a bit. Can't fault the location or food, but niggling bits: 1) bathroom was dated and I had to ask how the shower worked. Others had asked same question, why not have an update or a folder informing clients on these querks? 2) one sash window was stuck open, so got chilly at night. That is maintenance issue that should be addressed. 3) lovely breakfast on one day, but certain things were not laid for 2nd day and my table had not been cleaned from a previous customer!

That is staff training issues. 4) I had to book another night - new kitchen hadn't been completed at home! - but the Receptionist hadn't logged it. Good job I double checked and all was OK. Again staff training issues. Other than that, the range of food was good, and suffering from dysphagia, the chef was able to alter my choices as was needed. It is very popular for group meetings, wedding receptions and wakes.

One lunch was glad there was a pub opposite for a small snack! NB: the small bottle of mill on the table at breakfast took me back to my childhood at school when we were given a 1/3 pint of milk FoC!

We booked a function room for a corporate event. The room had several screen and they provided a projector. It was a brilliant evening. The staff were very friendly and the food was really good. Would recommend without hesitation. Thank you to Lysses, we will be returning soon. We couldn't comment on the room as we didn't stay.

We had a meal for 13 in the Hampshire room. Exceptional service from booking the event to leaving at last orders. Food was superb. All 4 courses including coffee and petit fours were excellent, superbly presented and tasted as amazing as it looked. Thank you all involved. We will be back!

Wonderful food, absolutely amazing staff and everything you could need. Great breakfast and room facilities. A perfect little gem of a hotel.

Fantastic staff who made my stay a real pleasure. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Great food in the restaurant. Neat clean rooms and a comfortable bed. I would recommend this hotel for business travelers on a budget but who would prefer something nicer than one of the big budget chains. I will definitely be staying here again in the future.

A warm welcome and a comfortable stay. A feeling in the room that all one's needs had been anticipated and provided for: really good reading lights in bed, face flannels and a shower cap in the bathroom, extra blankets in the cupboard. And such kind, friendly and helpful staff. And delicious food in the restaurant.

OK, but the longer we stayed the worse it got. Day 1 excellent and breakfast great. Day 2 breakfast waiting on staff dreadful. Please can we have bowls for cereal? Please can the orange juice be filled up? Etc. No attention to detail. Waited an age to get the key after we'd been out. Day 3 breakfast service still dreadful. No hot water in room. Toilet for some reason smelt of cigarettes the whole time we were there? Such a shame as all the above is so easily remedied. Not sure we'll come back

We came here for a Christmas party. The food was amazing, not the usual Christmas meal fare. I particularly enjoyed the beetroot and rocket risotto with salmon and prawns, and others in the party rated the lamb. The atmosphere was lovely with great staff, drinks and disco. I only wish I could rewind and do it all again. Thank you. xx

Staff were all very welcoming. White table cloths and napkins which make it a very pleasant dining room experience. Food was served hot and not a long time to wait. Well worth a visit.

On13/11 21 our family party of 17 had a celebration dinner here. We had a fantastic evening. Great food, great service, and a lovely setting. Thank you Lysses House Hotel. Highly recommended.

Excellent Chistmas lunch in lovely surroundings. Not rushed, very pleasant friendly staff and really good value for money.

I DJ'd here for my friend's mum's birthday. Buffet was really nice and slightly different, which was great. Only downside was the radiator cover fell away from the radiator and was close to hurting a young girl. Luckily it missed her heel by a centimetre and only scraped her shoe. The staff were really attentive and could not fault the service we received. Thank you Lysses Hotel for a great evening.

Brilliant Staff, food and drink wonderful Clive. It was my daughters wedding reception which had to change dates due to covid-19 well worth the wait the Staff made the day very special for Amelia. A special thank you to Lily, James and Clive. Hotel clean, tide with period features, friendly and helpful staff. I would definitely return.

James is amazing, him and his staff are friendly and approachable and nothing was too much trouble. It was my sister's wedding on 23/9/21 2 night stay, food was the best. The atmosphere was so chilled 5 stars for sure.

Our Team celebrating 40 years since we started enjoyed a really excellent 3 course lunch today. It was faultless. The meals were delicious and the service outstanding. 11 of us in total but all the courses ordered were exactly right and served well. It's not our first visit to Lysses and it will not be the last. Well done and thanks.

We had wedding on 19.08.21 and I can say that the hotel and the facilities are excellent. The food was delicious, cooked to perfection, very tasty and tender. The welcome was great and the staff very friendly. I will recommend this to everyone. We are very happy with the event

ANother Work Christmas Lunch at the Lysses. Port/Duck Terrine, Salmon, Peach Melba Pavlova, finished with coffee & a mini mince pie, very enjoyable yet again.
