Please can all guests of this hotel be aware that they do not pay there staff! Many chefs come through and leave after a few weeks due to poor working conditions and don't recieve any wages for the time they did work. illegal behavier like this in hospitality needs to be boycotted!

Didn't actually stay as it was a business meeting, but it's clearly an outstanding hotel. Beautiful bedrooms, gorgeous drawing room and a very smart dining area with stunning views. Only gave 4 stars for service as I didn't actually stay but expect service matches everything else.

Absolutely amazing hidden gem of Cumbria. Michelin Plate status for the last 3 years and their rooms have been recently renovated to an amazing standard. A perfect location in Borrowdale for exploring.

Lovely out of the way boutique style hotel. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Fixed menu for evening meal but the food was very good. Rooms were very clean and a good size.

Superb service from Charlie and the team. So many lovely little touches and an amazing dinner/breakfast. Comfortable room and a thoughtful gift for my husband's 40th from the staff. In a beautiful location, we did the Via Ferrata at Honister 10mins drive away. Highly recommend.

Fantastic food and service from start to finish of our 4 day break. Idyllic surroundings and Lee, Charley and rest of the team could not have done more. The best 80th birthday present I could have wished for from and with the family. 5 star in our opinion!

This place is a spectacularly peaceful retreat. Tucked away in the foothills surrounded by nothing but nature. The rooms are more than adequate, though nothing amazing. The food was superb and the service immaculate. Charley will take such good care of you. We stayed two nights and will definitely be returning.

Amazing service. We didn't stay but had pulled over with a flat tyre. They were hugely welcoming and even made us tea. This was gratefully received after a days walking. I spoke to some of the guests and they were delighted with the hotel.
